      He averaged 44.3 in his warrior career that’s seven years. Can you imagine averaging 39 and team wants to cut your salary for having an off year. Jordan’s best year was averaging 39 for reference. .Those were standards wilt set. He set record point totals over 13 seasons. it took both Kareem and Lebron 20 seasons to break that mark. Just a different animal. Nonone was as dominant nor faced such a bunch of hall of fame centers. In his career.

      @@blackwidowsm wilt was the best athlete to play the game, maybe the best athlete ever. He could have won the decathlon. but he wasn't the most SUCCESSFUL player, because he didn't play in a way that helped his teams the best. The blame can be placed on his coaches as well as Wilt himself....and of course, on the Celtics, who DID figure out how to play the game in an efficient manner. It was only after Bill Russell retired that Wilt was encouraged to copy his style, dominating the defensive side of the ball, grabbing rebounds on both ends, and leading the league n assists, that Wilt reached his maximum potential and won a couple of championships.

    The NBA should acknowledge that Wilt got them on national television, to begin with, and jump started the league's popularity, and money making ability. Oscar Robertson was absolutely right. He was the one who people tuned in to TV, and went to live games, to see play. He was the Baddest Ass to ever set foot on a basketball court, but, according to many of his contemporaries, he held back some, so as not to badly hurt other players. Who else could be said that about?

  • @wpl8275
    @wpl8275 Год назад +6

    Just think of this, he owns the NBA record books for scoring and rebounds but none of his blocks and steals were recorded. That means he could own all of the defensive records as well. In his rookie season he averaged more than Jordan's best season and he did it without the use of a 3 point shot and while shooting free throws at 30% less than Jordan shot them. And after that rookie season he considered retiring because he got beat up so badly. As for athleticism all you need is this quote: When Winter saw Chamberlain dunk a foul shot, he nearly fell over. "He wasn't at the top of the circle, but he was about three steps behind it," Winter, now 95, recalled in 2011. "He ran to the free-throw line, took off and dunked the ball." That caused the NCAA to change its rules on free throws. Then 4 other rules were changed. Offensive goaltending. Defensive goaltending. Inbounding the ball. (You can't inbound the ball by throwing it over the basket). And finally the size of the lane and the painted area was changed. All of those rules are as a result of Wilt Chamberlain.

      Absolute nonsense.... Red, the manager of the Boston celtics, wanted Wilt to go to a college so he could end up with the Boston Celtics....Wilt Chamberlain refused....
      Red also disliked Wilt Chamberlain not only because of him refusing to become a Celtic but because the Celtic used some pretty unsportsmanlike conduct against Wilt....
      Having his teeth smashed through his gum line leading to an infection that damaged his heart being just one....
      Wilt even threatened Red when the same player tried the same thing, and he knocked him out....
      Red wanted Wilt thrown out of the game, but the nba authorities had told the referees to turn a blind eye to this treatment....
      On this one occasion, the referees took Wilts part, and one of them even said to the Boston Celtics manager when wilt chamberlain threatened Red...." if you have any more 7 footer volunteers to send out to chastise Wilt, then he can join Red's unconscious player on the floor....
      Even Bill Russell didn't get involved because he personally played Wilt Chamberlain fairly in every game....
      The Boston Celtics team, not so much, and even Bill Russell admitted it, and Tom Heinsohn confirmed it....
      " Wilt suffered more physical abuse than any other nba player ever. "

    Wilt hasn't played in over 50 yrs, past away in 1999. And still has the most records and achievements, and more acalades, who could honestly say they could beat him offensively, or defensively, in a game anybody ever, 1on 1, any individual standing out above all. None other than wilt chamberlain. Now we have nikola jokic, leading in points, rebounds, and assists. But wilts era was more physical, and there was not a more physical specimen in the nba than wilt the stilt chamberlain.

    Anybody, who thinks wilt chamberlain is not the most dominant player in nba history. Listen to your boy,. Shaquille o'neal, he'll even tell you himself, so will jordan, averaging 50 points in any era, and scoring 100 points in any era, leading the league in points, rebounds and assists, it's sad that carpenters can do that work and still have time to develop their game, and nikola, can work with his horses and still find time to develop his game, on the one track mind idiot, leotard james, when given everything to succeed, still fails, and never, ever developed his game.and 1on 1 chamberlain what are you gonna do, but quit to the sideline to manicure your toenails. He, can't handle guarding a little guy who's halfway athletic, let alone, a beast mode phenom like wilt chamberlain.

    I'm sorry but 50 points averaged in a yr. And 100 points in a game, is still, 50, and 100 points. What changed about that. And dominating in a harder era, without as, good of medical care, and played longer, while being hurt and injured, while league, changed rules to make it harder for him to dominate, but still did, no benefit of the 3 point mark, or blocks being counted as stats, wich would have benefited him greatly, just speaks of the man the legend, the late great basketball superhero the big dipper himself.
