Kathy Bates said that they were having a hard time casting a male actor pretending to be immobile for a long time AND being outshadowed by his female counterpart. They had approached basically now all older actors : Harrison Ford, Deniro, Morgan Freeman EVERYONE and they all say no. All respect to James Caan for taking on this role.

The literary agent is the legendary, Lauren Bacall. She has one of the most famous lines in film history, "You know how to whistle don't you? You just put your lips together and blow..." That line was from the movie "To Have and Have Not" (1944) that she stared in with Humphrey Bogart when she was only 19. While filming they started a love affair and then later the two got married in 1945. They were married until his death in 1957. Such an iconic old Hollywood couple. Even though this is such a small cast, it is a magnificent one. Every actor and actress...amazing.

I always thought that last scene was brilliant. Paul's "Misery" novels were popular and even though he killed off Misery, he's still gonna have random people telling Paul: "I'm your no.1 fan," unaware of his trauma (unless he eventually does write a book about it). I even imagine some will be confrontational about him killing off "Misery." Moving on from his trauma won't be easy.

In fairness, if you they want to use a live subject as the recipient of the CPR for “realism” purposes, it is never going to look accurate without endangering the actor. Then, if they use a dummy and try to film around it, it just takes away from the scene, at least if the recipient is from the main cast. It’s a lose-lose IMO, and if I were a director I’d avoid CPR like the plague.

I don't think anyone could've nailed this the way she did. It's not just the acting ability, but it's knowing what you're trying to portray. They ATE those roles! Especially Kathy. I have a deep respect and admiration for actors/actresses all around the world who can play as psychos. Even more so if then can also switch to acting like innocent sweet things as well. If any of y’all have ever watched the kdrama Vincenzo you no what I’m talking about lol.

The book was so intense-it defined the word “page turner“. I remember being scared to see the next page.

Dolores Claiborne is another must see Kathy Bates movie. It's also a Stephen King story. I actually like it more than Misery.

20:27 had me rolling 😂 this is my fav couple. Loved this reaction. I love how they put themselves in the characters shoes and can be humorous about it at the same time.

This is really one of the classics as horror movies go^^
I want to suggest you two horror films that go in very unexpected directions:
El orfanato by Juan Antonio Bayona
The cabin in the woods by Drew Goddard
I am confident you will love them both.
And continue the great reactions guys. When my financials will allow it, you'll have a new patreon member^^

Resident Evil 7 has a DLC where you are in a similar situation in the Baker Mansion. Probably the closest I've seen to a Misery video game.

I feel you, Cody. I heard the line, "He's got shallow breathing, no pulse," in a medical drama once. I was both amused and hostile over it.

I had Spam for the first time just three years ago and was surprised at how much I absolutely love it. MUST be sautéed but I eat it at least once a month.

Follow up for peeps not in the know-when sliced and sautéed it becomes this beautiful lovechild of ham and bacon.

If you love "Misery" you two should check out the 1981 movie "The Fan." It stars Lauren Bacall, (the agent in Misery) and Michael Biehn. Great movie.
