That's really helpful you pointed out the "key wobble" on the Sonic53 switch. Cheers for that. My main concern on prebuilts is always the stabilizers and key wobble. The fact that after all these years virtually every single prebuilt mechanical board has horrendous stabilizer ticking and rattle is just mind blowing to me considering how expensive some of these products are. Thanks for the vid man
Do you think the stabilizers are good here? I own a Keychron Q1 V2 and have been stunned by how bad the stabilized keys are. They rattle, tick, and seem to be barely lubed at all. Thanks!
P.S. Is there no Delete key? Normally those go by the backspace key and I didn’t see one during the video. Thanks, great video man.
The Stabilizers are good, the overall experience is excellent. The delete key is in the dot key next to the 0 key.
@@GizmoChinaTube Thanks that’s helpful. If I pick one up I’ll probably go for the tactiles and not the linears since I don’t like key wobble. Really cool they use Kaihl box switches most prebuilds do not. I hadn’t even heard of this company til your video.
@@GizmoChinaTube Sorry to trouble you again, but are the stabilizers top mounted or screw in? Thanks!
@@BlindBisonTop mounted.
@@GizmoChinaTube thanks
where is this brand MelGeek from ?
It's from China, a well known mechanical keyboard brand.
"Maybe MelGeek realized that all their previous keyboards are a bit higher priced, so they released this one: the Modern97, for only $139."
*so they released another expensive one 😅
For a keyboard with this feature set the price is actually not bad at all. From the outside looking in most people balk at prices like this but for people who’ve been in the keyboard scene for awhile passing a certainly quality threshold has a cost. My buddy has a super cheap razer board and the stabilizers make me want to gouge my eyes out they sound so terrible.
Imo I wish they would’ve gone even higher end than this using double shot PBT keycaps over ABS and investing in very high end stabilizers. To each their own and all that. For people that want very cheap boards they’re out but they usually also are quite terrible.
@@BlindBison Sure. Same as a Lamborghini being a budget Ferrari.
Like @BlindBison said, for its price, the features you get are awesome!
As it turned out all these eco friendly products do more harm to the environment, cost much more than ordinary plastics and last much less doing double damage to the polar bear population. As a product it is not so competible price wise and has no killer features. It is just an overhyped product niche.
Hi, thank you for your comment. What we want to convey on the Modern97 keyboard is the concept of nature, so we have some presentation in color matching and packaging.
As a mechanical keyboard, its function and feel are very good, especially this time we have made improvements in battery life, this keyboard can last up to 2900 hours. You don't need to charge it often, which is environmentally friendly to some extent.
Actually, we don't really associate the Modern 97 too much with an eco-friendly product (no matter if it is or not). It's more about a unique design and using experience than anything else. In fact, the end result looks great.
@@MelGeek_Official Going off reviews it seems like you guys are doing great work.
Have you considered making a version of the Modern 97 (or a new board) but with the Num pad on the left side like the recent Keychron Q12? I’d buy that in a heartbeat from you guys assuming the stabilizers are implemented well. Keychron is recommended all the time these days but in my experience their stabilizers are horrendous (ticking/rattle/little to no lube) even on their more recent boards. Sound quality and gasket mount implementations seem pretty good in the videos I’ve seen for your products.
Only other thing I can think of is most enthusiasts prefer doubleshot PBT caps over ABS. The design/visual look of the modern 97 is great imo.
EDIT: I noticed for your US warehouse only box plastics are available. It would be great if the US warehouse could also get the box tactiles too if possible. For me 38 force linears is a bit too on the low side - feels like I can’t rest my fingers on the keys without accidentally pressing them and I like to rest on the tactile bump.
