“AMERICAN PICKERS” TRIP TO NYC & NEW JERSEY TURNS UP ULTRA RARE GM NOS RESTORATION PARTS STASH!

- A last minute change of plans before we were supposed to leave for Florida sent me in a completely different direction this past weekend.
After finding a possible broken flex plate on my Malibu I decided to stay home rather than risk taking the car to Florida.
Instead I got to work tuning the carburetor on the Orange 70 Nova, and then an opportunity presented itself to go to New York City and New Jersey to go “PARTS PICKING”
Let’s just say I had a great time, and I think you will too! 🤣 Авто/Мото
Hey Bill your drone shots are epic and make your videos even better to watch. And I know it takes time for you to pull over and do them so keep up the good work
Ya'know, I was just thinking the same thing. It been about 30 years since I drove through the tunnel at Wheeling, WV. When Bill took the time to take old I-70, cross the old bridge, and through the tunnel, it brought back wonderful memories. Then I considered the time it took to leave the highway, find a place to park, and follow up with drone footage, well... that is a LOT of effort for a bunch of people he doesn't even know and will probably never meet. Thank You, Bill! And I'm certain more people than T. Ward and I pick up on these things, your efforts do not go unnoticed!
Aw hell... I'm already on the keyboard so I'll keep pounding. With 579 comments already, I doubt you'll ever read this one, but I'll go ahead and continue. This video was your BEST: Editing, content, storyline. Other than the click-bait title and the brief footage of.. uh...the individual who is ending the historical significance of a 50 year time capsule Nova, it was a perfect video! Starting with some excellent tuning advice and a Mark cameo (that guy is gold!) The Ohio back roads, the lengthy road-trip, the Pennsylvania tunnels, your GPS mistakes, the overcast, the Long Island geography lesson from the guy who considers road signs to be optional, (to be fair, I think that's in his Long Island DNA). Then the segment with the parts-stash Dude, etc. But the BEST was the bloodhound wake-up alarm and your face!! Hah- I damn near fell outta my recliner on that one! And then admittedly, I snorted my coffee the second time it happened! Well done, well timed. On the flip side, watching you constantly fix Billy's cars and trailering 4 or 5 cars to a "street race" well, it no longer holds my interest. Way too much stress and headaches. I hope you can find enough subscribers who want to watch this most recent kind of Old Mans Garage video and that you keep turning them out. You had asked for input, so consider this only constructive criticism. No disrespect to you or your family, but please go back to being "Old Man's Garage" channel with tuning, family, realistic car builds, street racing that you DRIVE to- not trailer, interviews with your business associates, some behind the scenes/take-outs/bloopers etc. It kind of seems like OMG is becoming a support Billy's SRC channel. I honestly believe many of us come for you, Vicki, Jeremy (Bucko), your Dad (more please...I know he doesn't talk much, but some farming, history or old stories would be nice), Paige, Mark (Chumpy), Bob, the dawgs and the rest of your Buckeye misfits and outcasts. ...anyhow, that's my .02

Shout out to Don for not only being a collector but also selling parts and not just being a hoarder.
The hoard is some of these guys retirements. My grandfather retired off flathead ford and early harley parts. What used to be $50 flathead cheater heads and matching intakes are now $2000
New Hampshire fishing boat livery
Well the house of pearls knows a guy who knows a guy. Great to see the new friends with the same love of old cars. And rooney is like the one family member that everyone has.
Hear, hear to THAT!!
Thank you for pointing this out.
😂 we need more bill and mark working together content 😂
Absolutely loved this video u killed it as always
Love knowing that there are still people like don out there who are very honest and knowledgeable about stuff and Have full time jobs but still take the time to sell and help others fine rare NOS parts they need
I worked at a Chevy dealership in the 80's. We all had those parts cages. We strapped them to the walls in the shop. And our tool boxes fit perfectly inside. And they were lockable. The floors in the cages folded up. They were perfect.
And yes, the shop I worked at had some serious hot rod guys. So we had hi-performance parts and sheet metal everywhere. You name it and it was in the shop. Fantastic times in my life. Great people I worked with. Memories I will never forget.
Awesome memories
Thanks to people like Don who saved new old stock parts
I genuinely enjoy listening to old automotive stories like that. I may 50yo (which I just turned on the 20th) it still has that same level of enthusiasm I had when I'd hear stories in my late teens early 20s!! To all the nos parts hoarders thank you for your ability to save what you can!!!
The way u explained pre ignition was an amazing illustration Mr Bill u are one talented guy !
It’s amazing the kinda people that are into the hobby of cars. Just the best kinda people.
MARK FROM A-1 IS THE COOLEST GUY EVER!!! Top notch customer service and all done with a warm smile 😁. Great job Mark on a job well done 👍. Also, this video is amazing 🤩. You and Tommy ARE NATURALS at video editing and filming, way to go! Anyway, thanks for the video 📸.
Thank you for the compliment! CHUMPY
Mark makes me wish I lived in Ohio. A parts guy who knows his craft is truly a blessing. Great job sir!
God bless you Don. I appreciate you preserving these car parts and cars for future generations 🙏
Nice stash he has and now you have him as a source and stash. That beautiful survivor getting taken apart breaks my heart
Bill- Pure entertainment, good friends, cars and new and extremely intersting new friends...
That story managed to make Monday feel right.
Good people doing good business with one another.
Billy Tommy and Allison came down and kicked ass! It was awesome to see them down here. That Nova flewww down Showtime Drag Strip. 🫡
The old man and Mark film crew pretty darn good. I like it😊
Mr bill u could’ve really been like an automotive teacher fr. U explain how stuff works really well.
That’s awesome! What a great gift saving all those parts and helping enthusiasts out with our builds!
Young People that's How Businessman interact with Class .
Well Done Sir.
This is one of the best car related channel on RUclips!
Since I haven't seen anyone else comment about this. I'm like most of us watching this channel and a V8 rear wheel drive is usually the go to driveline for all vehicles on this channel. But this man has one of the cleanest 1993 Chevrolet Lumina Z34 I've seen since probably 95! That's a 30 year old car behind him that nobody has ever decided to do a restoration on thinking it'll be a classic one day. It's just been very well maintained its entire life. I may be the only one that can appreciate all that, but I can also still remember my mom having a black one because we are all Earnhardt fans and even learning how to drive a 5 speed in it "a ultra rare combination to find". I remember that car hurting several 5.0's feelings when they found out that it was a DOHC 3.4L engine and front wheel drive. Top speed was a lot more than the 120 mph on the dash. I hit that half way through 4th gear shortly after I got my license! What I wouldn't give to find a clean one in black with grey interior with the 5 speed.
Ain't the brightest bulb in the pack tearing up a original nova like that lol
I loved the animation you put in explaining pre ignition. Great video as always
Old man you looked mighty rough there those 2 mornings I’ll be 63 Wednesday and I definitely feel rough great channel 💪💪💪💪
We need more people who see the value in a dream and taking the time to see it come true, one of the best video yet , I'm grinning from ear to ear , old school rocks !
If it makes any difference , I really loved the drive ability diagnostics and how you actually had everything defined on the screen at times. You would make a great instructor. When you actually like the teacher you actually pay more attention and understand easier. I just wanted to say thank you for that tid bit of knowledge and KEEP EM Coming
I just love when Uncle Bob puts down a good run on the Dyno and he yells out Woooo. Lol.
Glad to see there are guys like Don still out there in this day and age. Well done sir.
Can't wait to see what all you gathered up Bill. Congrats to Billy on his weekend. Stoked to watch that footage. 😎🤘🇺🇸
19:21 aww I could wake up with that view and alarm clock every morning. 🐶🐶
I wouldve been dying 🤣 sorry bill ole blue thought he had em one treed 🤣
One of the top 5 best videos you have done, the spark plug animations showed my nephew how to set up spark plugs and timing
My favorite part was you waking up to the blood hounds in the window. Hilarious 😅. Uh and getting lost without Mrs. Vicky. Loved it. God bless Bill. THE REAL STEVE 💯 OG.
Thank you Don, world needs more like you today.
Bill what an awesome trip and the finds you got are all worth it. Now you have a connection with Don that people only dream of. Thanks for sharing your experience with us
lol He’s got Bloodhounds. They love to bark. I guess you figured that out
WOW BILL YOU ARE ONE OF THE MOST DOWN TO EARTH AND REAL NARATORS OF RUclips HISTORY LOVE THE JOURNEY
Rooney is an absolute hoot. That looked like a really good trip.
Wow,, tha 'ol Man's gett'n soooo good at running his drone, filming from high above while driving his hotrod's up and down the street. Awesome video!
Ain't gonna lie, I got a warm, fuzzy feeling watching this video...people helping people...the epitomy of the car hobby culture...
Don being the holy grail horder for old GM stock and kind enough to sale had to of made your day Bill. Now that you have a connection to old parts i can only imagine how nice your cars are going to turn out. It was great to see you and Mark dialing in the nova the owner has the right guy working on it and the right parts guy at hand. Alarm clocks how funny we have 5 extra large alarm clocks that i think are broken they go off at any time day or night lol. Thanks again Bill for another entertaining video. God bless and as always be safe.
Love your videos, the photography and the narration are excellent, as always. They are one of the highlights of my week.
I been thinking
As a 66yo petrol head
I too had an El Camino 6cylinder 4,1 lutre (250 cube?)
Torque monsters and reasonably good on fuel mileage too
Keep yours "stock" ish..... just seen the vid of house of pearls buffing it. Really sweet ride.
Back to the motor. Fit a nice exhaust manifold, a turbo on low boost with a blow thru 4 barrel on it. Some nice brakes for the stoppy thingy when you need to, some shock and suspension mods and you can easily double the horsepower in stock motor. Those old 6 pots were bullet proof. You dont need to reve them through the roof either.
That way you have a high torque motor that is reasonably economical and can pick up the skirt and take off if needed. Wont scare mrs either till she overtakes a vehicle and things happen a lot faster than she remembered.....
I never did it, but i believe a "torque storm" type supercharger can turn the El Camino into a 6 pot tyre shredder.....
What about it? Something different? Give it a go.....?
Hell yeah Bill!!!
Beautiful rare NOS GM parts find!
Rooney & NY gang always cracks me up!!!
You get a sick feeling when He said smashed it up with a hammer!
Seeing that water tower for Buckeye lake has me craving "Buckeyes" now.... I'll have to make some tonight since we can't get them here in Georgia
Heck yea Mr Bill what a nice surprise to wake up to! THE BEST CHANNEL / FAMILY / GARAGE ON RUclips!!! 🤘🤘🇺🇸🇺🇸💚💚💚💚💚
Brother Bill...your getting really good at your editing and B roll stuff...I'm blow away how good you r at it now...I can remember the first dozen....super awesome job ....
Vacuum advance typically goes to the “timed” port on the metering block.
Man Don is a hidden gem of a person and helps people people get stuff they can’t otherwise find. It saddens me that there are fewer guys like him around.
Rooney.....New York driving at its best...lol
I love these old car guys videos. Think nothing cooler than the stories and seeing his collection.
That poor nova and I bet that cop was really impressed with you.😂😂
One of the best videos yet, Bill! 🤟 Keep em coming!
Congrats to the kids and I love their channels, but Gawd yours is the best on the Tube!
One of the best videos bill has done and how he explains everything very well done
Dude! The explanatory animations were next level! This channel is going places! You are awesome Bill!
Bill I understand where you are coming from when it comes to fine hard parts and good luck and be safe and God bless you
Always enjoying. The best carb man and timing expert.
That Blue z34 Lumina is fricken Fire!!!
Great video and nice score on the parts for the Monte Carlo, he’s got a nice collection and it’s cool he actually sells parts instead of just hoarding them.
This gentleman and the owner of Stevens Performance in Alabama are diehard and priceless parts saviors for Chevy and Mopar vehicles. LOL
Watching your videos reminds me of watching Power Block every Saturday as a kid. Very well put together videos 😎👌🏾
Awesome video. Really enjoyed that. Great seeing people like Don out there who have a love and appreciation for automobiles. I'm planning on attending the Carlisle show in April. Hoping to say hello to him.
You got all the shiny bits you needed. Outstanding! And you survived Rooney and NYC. That new drone sure takes nice video, nice job Bill.
I worked at a gm dealership back in the late 80s and 90s. And he is absolutely correct on the nos stuff. I was able to buy alot of old stuff from the dealer
MY FAVORITE GARAGE CHANNEL !
😁👍🏼
I for one respect Tyler ,anyone can restore a classic hot rod but it takes a true hot rodder to cut one up, can’t wait to see the finished product
Plenty of non original SS cars that are nice out there, just dumb to tear apart a original once car.
Those parts are superb. In 2012 i had an opportunity to clear some land off , that was being a dalvage yard for 60-80 chevrolets. Because of my upbringing by a grarhead and a gearhead myself, i wondered if my feiend shouldve removed all the OEM badges , teim ,bezels, hoods and fenders..?? Glad to see these pieces are still around and you are blessed to experience that . Mr. Bill , youre a superb man and these things happen to good people. Keep making SBC great again
Loved the alarm clock, lmao, thank you
I really enjoy your editing Bill, getting better and better with every new video.
I'd say you had just as much fun doing this as going to Florida. Great score on tge parts!
Everything happens for a reason!? Gods looking forward to seeing the Monte like brand new. Love it when a plan comes together!!
That shot of you just waking is great lmao😂
Another amazing video!!! Love seeing these old parts being found out the woodworks!!
I always enjoy your RUclips channel but before I watch my favorite RUclips channel I go to the kitchen get my coffee ☕ and toasted bread 🥪 .sit my butt down and enjoy watching you talk about carburators and just cruising these beautiful cars that i grew up watching my dad and brothers with there old school muscle cars . Keep up the good work my brother
That was probably the best video to date mate, the descriptive explanation on the spark plug detonation and carbon build up..that marketplace find wow. Your like Vicki in a decoration shop..😂
The old man has the best videos on RUclips hands down
He really does. He has to put so much time into making these. The details and drone shots while driving are amazing
@@Ada-zn3pw yeah he’s very dedicated and it shows !!! Most these others get clips and puts the videos together but his takes some time to do then he sets and has to do the voice overs I’d like to know how much time he has in one video
Glad I’m not the only one who likes these cars.
Bill keep coming with good videos. Your boys are inspiration to me makes me want to keep trying get all my parts together for my car so I can start racing thanks again bro.
Respect for all that you do Sir.
How you get on with the parts store folks is the best part. Seems like everybody's day is improved when you all get together.
On a side note:
On a dry day, the hill climbs on both sides of those tunnels on the Turnpike are amazing from the cockpit of a muscle car. I had the most fun in a Gen 2 CTSV (it doesn't garner much attention) and the second most fun in twin screw Fox Mustang (I was afraid to open this up all the way because it grabs attention and it's loud). You will have to do this trip again, in one of your favorites.
I spoke too soon. CANS 🤣🤣
Wow you and Don are like two long lots buddies. He definitely has a awesome collection. Cheers Bill on another great video
This Monte Carlo is gonna b a BEAST! Can not wait for the next video! Love this channel and SRC!
I love seeing good people doing cool things 🎉
I understand everything you say about carburetors. Always killed my engine in gear and never had an engine diesel on me, but I’m glad you explained this situation. Thanks Bill
Good Lord, what an amazing collection of GM parts! Awesome video as always
I remember playing in those GM cages as a kid then helping my dad unload them when I got older. I still have a few of the blue GM totes.
That teal lumina is Sweet!!
Don's an awesome guy! Couldn't believe the nos parts, the cars he has! Definitely great video!
Thanks for sharing the best content on the interwebs )
Bill, the pre-ignition lesson was the best one I've ever seen! You need to include more of these teachings in your videos. Also, you understand ignition advance and timing better than anyone I've ever seen!
Unfortunately, I’m not well spoken on camera. So it takes a lot of effort in doing voice overs, and typically tech videos don’t do well.
I sprinkle tech stuff in here and there when it comes organically. I don’t go out of my way to make them, but if something pops up that is important I’ll do my best to explain things. Thank you.
Hey Bill! Another great video. Great content! Glad you found the parts you needed for the MC. Good find. As always stay safe 😀😘❤️
A mid day video!!!!!!👍👍👍👍👍👍
Roooooooooonny!!!!!!👍👍👍👍👍
DUDE 😎 OLD MAN, make sure you spend some good quality time with Petey Small Block, he's fun and cool! Plus, he watches your show too, so he's got to be cool. Great job and look forward to every video. Thanks 👍.
Your videos still blow my mind on your production level for just being you on your own. The coordination of everything going on, filming, drone shots, editing, and still a great family man. It's like watching a documentary of your life with better quality than most TV shows.
Thank you.
Than you don for allowing filming. Thats was so cool to see your beautiful cars and the ultimate stash.
Just loved your two adorable alarm clocks..
Always love the carburetor education sharing your knowledge with us and shout out to Don for saving and selling all these amazing and unobtainable NOS parts Great video. Love y’all.
You at A1 was awesome an getting him to film for you was great. Lol great vid so far
You have to feel for Vicky waking up to that.😀
