This video brought back some great memories. My first new bike was a black 1975 Sportster. It’s hard to believe it was 49 years ago. I wish I still had her.

Reminds me of my 77 back in the day. I road that 800 miles to Panama City, in 1977 in one day. At 70 I'm still riding a sportster.

I had a 77 Sportster also . I bought it used with a complete Top End Rebuild with 500 mi. On the Rebuild had it for years and it was the best HD I ever had.
A lot of people hated the Cable back brake but it functioned great. I miss it from time to time.
      Thanks for the video.

.i rode my 73 from SC to lake okechobee in one day, around 700mi. Bike did great, hands and butt took some pretty rough vibrations. Long runs on iron head sporties are definitely for the younger bones. Same with the old rigids.
Oh you CAN, but you’ll feel every mile. My old rigid shovel was smoother, but the potholes were more noticeable.
Not by much though, sporties had some stiff shocks.

Owned a 72 Sporty in 1990, first year of the electric start I believe. Loved it. Only problem I had was a burnt out armature which I had rewound. On a 98 1340 today.

I owned a 1975 XLCH for years. I was always looking for an extra gear also. 😆
Finally found it. It was installed in my 2009 XL1200C. XLCH are fun to ride 👍

Those old round slide Mikuni’s made the old iron heads starting machines! I put one on my 1973 XLCH and actually won kickstart contests with it! People would threaten to “ fix it” so it started like a sportster lol.
I put a CV carb on the wife’s 77 xlch and it was even more smooth and responsive and started just as easily.
Those old ironheads were great when tuned and maintained correctly. But they sure vibrate.

You captured the essence of what it’s like to ride an old original Ironhead perfectly I felt like I was right there on the bike. Thanks.

Great video. My first bike was a 1958 Sportster XL. My second was a 1964 XLCH. Really fast. I loved that bike but it was stolen and never recovered. Yours starts better than mine did but I only weighed 135 lbs back then. 😂. I ran out of gas once and went to reserve. From then on I used my trip odometer for a fuel gage and filled up every 60 miles.

My First Harley was a 1980 Sportster. Put a Mikuni VM Carb on it. XLR pipes. Sure was a good running and sounding motorcycle. Your sounds so good and good looking!

My last H-D was a 1978 1/2 FLH. I liked the 4-speed tranny, 40 to 45 m.p.h on a county road was pleasure. I grinned when you adjusted the mirror because I remember how useless they are due to vibration.(blurred image). Stay safe and enjoy your scooter.

I believe Joe Hunt and Morris Magneto offered magnetos for the post '69 Sportsters, they mounted in the tach drive and were driven off the front intake cam. It was a simple installation!

I knew it! I fcuking knew it! As soon I pushed play button I saw that it's gonna be one of those "preaching and talking while riding" videos.🤦
Man I hate when people doing this. Why do they think that we are interested of that? They really don't understand that the main actor is the bike. You HAVE to show the bike while you talking. No one is interested of watching the road and listening you talking bunch of nothings.
