Many Chinese immigrants came to Canada, but many Chinese immigrants also returned to China. Chinese people hope to have a good life through their own labor, but we are disadvantaged in Canada. For example, in a company where I used to work, the manager became Indian. He fired all of us and replaced us with Indians, so many of my Chinese friends had to consider returning to China.
It's easier and more convenient to "abuse" the labour of Indian immigrants. Indians are very timid compared to other immigrants. They wouldn't report workplace violations.

I have to somewhat agree with you. I used to go to a food market and a bakery of which I will not mention names. Management changed for both and experienced employees were replaced and the quality of product and cleanliness deteriorated.
South Asians are the most able to tolerate with the abysmal working conditions and not report it.

I'm not against immigration but Brampton Ontario is a sad example of it. The frequency of bad actions and lack of respect is what it is. The Canadian gov like most is a joke, though let's keep in mind, via voting, the people think this works.

@@DW-op7ly you do realize during the 40's canada was at war in it transformed this country from an agricultural to an industrialized economy, they engineered and built alot of things, from manufacturing to aerospace. There was alot of boom proceeding this period, and canada was definately a player at the world stage with alot of influence because of that hard work and sacrifice, it carried forward, the problem is replacing these boomers yes, because alot of them were working in specialized fields, construction, engineering, energy, management, medical, so alot of them have big shoes to fill but instead of leaving 13 kids like their parents did after the war, they have 2 or 3, and less and less, so there demographic controls most of the senior positions in a decent portion of cases and that means you are missing alot of ppl to do their jobs after they are gone, but the generations after and new immigrants do not have the same experience, expertise, work ethic, or even in alot of cases interest to do these jobs.

I am a Canadian who came from Hong Kong. I am not against immigration. Besides, Canada would be in dire socio-economics condition if there hadn't been immigrants to fill some of the gaps.
Yet, I do feel the overall migration situation under Trudeau, including not just the permanent residency type of immigration but all other aspects including the processing of illegal migrants, appeared to have been lax and vetting wasn't sufficient in many instances.
While we desire immigrants to have sufficiently matching skills and knowledge, I think whether the immigrants appreciate and generally believe in Canada's constitutional values including freedom and liberty should come first.
The same goes for investment immigrants. They do help with providing immediate employment and so on. Yet, in the long term, the focus should be on developing our own business entrepreneurship.

Canada is the easiest visa amongst english speaking developed countries. USA UK Aus and NZ are tougher. EU has language issues.

Definitely we need to tighten up our immigration policies. I’ve seen videos on RUclips made by Indians who are helping other Indians to come to Canada just to get a Canadian citizenship so they can then move on to the USA. In the same video the couple was saying that Canada over the past 10 years is not what it used to be. Higher cost of living and taxes, but hey once you get that passport you can move on to the USA.
My family came from Ireland and Germany 1-200 years ago. Times were desperate for our people and I am so glad they came here. This is such a beautiful country. My ancestors spread out but it seems like recent immigrants just cram into the cities.
I'd say go and spread out, I dont understand why so many seem to just stay in little enclaves in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver. We need more people to be out here doing hard labour and working the land, doctors, nurses, engineers and grunt labour.

20 years ago immigrations was quite strict and illegal immigrations were mostly ending up with deportation. My mom (canadian) got in a relationship with an austrian man who immigrated in canada in the 90s. He has a big company and hired born canadians (good for canadian economy since he was creating jobs for us) and it took him 20 YEARS to have his citizenship. Back then you had to prove that you were a good citizen for Canada in every way (assimilation) and the last step was an economy and history exam that you had to pass which he did successfully after studying and living here. So yeah if we have stayed that strict we wouldn't have that problem but no we have a clown who let them in and give them the citizenship after a week or two and we pay them to live here comfortably. Also, not the half of them like us, neither our cultures, traditions and laws. So it's not just an immigration problem but an invasion problem since most of them are not here for the right reasons. We already have our born canadian BS and criminals so we don't need the ones from other countries.
A friend left her job as a Manager in one of our banks here in Asia and immigrated to Canada to work in an effing Pizza shop.

Chinese immigrants who came to Canada in the late 1800s and early 1900s faced strict restrictions and were forced to pay a $500 Head Tax, which is about $10,000 in today’s dollars. Most of the Chinese men immigrated from South China and weren’t allowed to bring their wives over for well over a decade. They toiled in the most menial jobs and faced extreme discrimination. Many feel Canada owes them something and are self-entitled and demanding.
Main issue is regulations: the most important feature, if I may say so myself, it would be to require a full integration with the local communities and respect for the laws and rules of the hosting land. They were told to go back to where you came from over there when colonialism ended. Europe left, its protection left with it, and revenge is enacted to this day on them. Christian persecution.

What cost European migration to Canada was the Canadian government cancelling siblings sponsorship. When I came to Canada in the early 90’s , most of my coworkers were young Europeans, some of whom were sponsored to Canada by their siblings, Canada government decided to cancel that and allow people to bring their parents and grandparents instead , which to me, was not smart. First you are bringing people who haven’t contributed anything to Canada pensions to come and take old age pension and stopping people who were coming to contribute and help grow the economy. Eventually, young Europeans stopped coming and Canada had no choice but to allow whoever wants to come in the chance to come, unfortunately majority of those who came, came with their corrupt mentality and it’s affecting Canada big time.

Why are so many Americans immigrating to Canada? What is that all about?
I have been living in Toronto for 4 months, the reason is that the majority of Canadians live inside the Toronto Montreal corridor totally close to Usa. Many American corporations have an headquarter in Toronto, in Canada there are many benefits like Public Healthcare and universities not present in Usa. Canada is mainly unpopulated and is seen as a new frontier. Plus consider that the states are inside a commercial agreement that includes a movement of professions between Mexico and Canada
So benefits like healthcare and free college education but now the trend is reverse, in fact they were always more Canadians in the US than Americans in Canada.

This chart makes no sense and needs more explanation. It starts with 4.05 million immigrants in 1990 and ends with 7.58 million in 2024. What do those numbers mean? Are we getting 7.58 million immigrants per year (not likely), or 7.58 million since 1990 or 7.58 million total (also unlikely). In any case we are getting far too many Indians. I really miss the days when we could speak to someone at a business or support that spoke fluent English without the accent.
