I was thinking the same, literally all of what people considered the WEST and more specifically the South West were all MEXICAN territories until 1948 that means more than 70% of what we call Texas today, all of NM, AZ, CA, portions of CO and UT.
So the 'MEXICAN' population was already in place long before the territory succession.

This country was 90% White up until the 70's, and most areas were literally 99% White. The county I grew up in PA, with 175,000 people or so, was 99% White. I rarely encountered a non-White person until moving to CA in the late 80's. Europeans never immigrated in such large numbers. It wasn't such an easy thing to do back then.

It's very obvious that Asians and Mexicans have a wider community, so you don't even have to tell me that, but the "Asian" category is too broad all by itself. The Iranian immigrant population in America is estimated to be anywhere between 600,000 to 1.5 Million. The higher end of this estimate also includes other ethnicities from Iran in addition to Persians such as Kurds, Armenians, Assyrians, Azeris, Balochis, etc.

Remember the title says immigrants and this country is built by immigrants, it doesn't matter what country they come from eventually everyone that came here in the 1800s, their descendants in the 2020s are already Americans so yes it makes sense to include Puerto Ricans.
I hate to break it to you, but you are not 100% American because Puerto Ricans on the island do not have the same rights as Americans on land, such as voting for the president, and Puerto Rico has its own legislative structure. Puerto Rico is a commonwealth and does not belong to the Union.

Whoever take a quick view in northamerican history will notice how many of the US great infrastructure, monuments and even art works have been made (designed or literally build) by inmigrants: irish, italians, mexicans, french, germans, dutch, russians, polish, chinese, japanese, koreans, etc. Even somethings like the rock & roll or the jazz, the liberty statue or the Erie canal are the products of those who arrived to US many years ago, without even knowing the english language.

People will talk crap about Mexican Americans. And I understand why to an extent, But as a 4th generation Mexican American I promise we get much better. You could argue America liberalising it’s immigration system is the reason why it’s still on top today and not stagnant like Japan or Europe. The richest states in the country are majority Mexican American. And that’s not to say it’s because Mexican Americans, But to say that places that take in the most immigrants grow the most.
I'm 1st gen but most 1st and 2nd gen become super American. Bet half of the 1st gen can't even tell you Mexico's independence day; probably even thinking Cinco de Mayo is 😂
@@luissanchez2067 Maybe I’m 4th gen and went to a 96% Mexican American school and couldn’t really relate to anyone, they spoke English, But didn’t seem super American to me. Only the people who’s ancestors came along time ago like mine in the 40’s are actually fully Americanised.
@@DivinesLegacy Well I guess it depends where you are. I'm from Missouri so we don't have a lot of Mexicans here. But the one's that are born here are not fluent in Spanish, maybe know a few more Spanish phrases than the average American but that's it. I went to a 76% black school but it's St. Louis, where whites and blacks dominate the city by a landslide.
