In the excitement over SFZ, SEZ it is easy to overlook the Sarawak MM2H (SMM2H). It requires only 30 days stay (not necessarily consecutive days) in Sarawak per year and the visa holder can be in West Malaysia for the rest of the year. Also the SMM2H doesn't come with the onerous property purchase requirement and restrictions
Rena said a few times that the MM2H is a way to stay in Malaysia permanently. It should be clarified that the visa enables long term stay (5,10,15 years) but doesn't confer permanent residency status
Hi Sean, if Rena has a consultancy to provide services to those who are interested in applying for MM2H, can you please tell us how to reach out to her? Thank you.
Thanks for great content Sean & Rena, i have there a few questions not sure if anyone has any info. 1) annual target/cap of mm2h visas to be issued by gov 2) vacancy rates of kl/selangor, penang, jb. I know many has been predicting a property boom, these news are triggering a buying spree, but is it gonna be a short stint? As i googled currently there are only about 57k active mm2h holders. Msia although is getting the attention but compared to other western migrating countries the number is still very low. Can our property market really emulate those countries where there are super high incoming migrants and major lack of supplies?
In Johor Bahru, if Singaporeans buy from the developer directly, the minimum amount if RM600k. If sub sale unit then it has to be at least RM 1 million. Developer need to apply for the quota to sell to foreigner at the RM600k
It also depends is it under the Iskandar Putri (previously known as Medini), or special economic zones, or just the normal projects. So it's not that direct.
Question: If singaporean already purschase > 1m property after 10 yrs then can he apply n considered the property requirement is met or need to buy another property in msia?
Those contemplating getting the MM2H visa should research the history of how the Malaysian government treated MM2H holders during the Covid19 period. The visa holders who made Malaysia their 2nd home, bought property there were not permitted to re-enter Malaysia during Covid19. They were shut out of their homes for more than a year. Do your due diligence. The MM2H is essentially a social visit pass.
This mm2h sound scrary to me. As the influx of foreingners push the market prices higher. However, are we ready to compete with them? Will it wider the rice and poor disparity? I don't know how to describe my current feeling. For malaysian with singapore pr, i would suggest hold a private condo and buy a unit in malaysia which the unit that you intend for retirement. When u r ready to retire, sell the singapore unit or rent it to generate cash flow.
Not only cheap cheap cheap that we hearing, but also prata prata prata. After watching until half way still a lot unknown and uncertainty or question mark.
I got colleague from bangalesh for 18 years under tier higher than work permit working in singapore. Want to apply MM2H and buy a flat for his daughter for education as well. Wanting to loan up to 40 percent house and the rest in cash. Any advices?
If you want to hear a brutal truth about SFZ - it's a locally known fact that it's a ghost city because it did not take into consideration the population density of the present as well as the future needs. Perhaps when Johor especially the southern part can attract the kind of investments from businesses....not speculators..., something what Penang and Kedah has managed to do well recently; then SFZ will continue its reputation of being a ghost town....akin to what China is going thru right now. Investment from speculators have no long term added value.... something S'pore government understood a long time ago. Hence the latter's long-term planning of attracting high-value investments like Pharmaceutical, Chemicals, Chips....etc.
of course, sg PR basically is toilet paper...my sister married to malaysian more than 15 years, with twin girl...now husband + 2 girl , all malaysian, only my sister(Singaporean), still holding spouse visa, wose than bangala or maid...she drive car out, no ID, die die have to bring passport, in case of road block, and she cannot work at all....i ask her why no PR, she say ...wait long long...for those in sg, kbkp hard to get PR, pls...wait till after GE...now nost likely cannot get wan......
All I can say malaysians give up citizenship are dumb. They will never get it back and they also will never ever get malaysia pr. SG PR is easy, so cheap like toilet paper.
By law it’s easier to get Malaysia 🇲🇾 PR through Sabah ! Don’t ask me why but the state of Sabah in Malaysia 🇲🇾 has different rules from other states ! Sigh 😮💨
