Regarding the questions about the COB light strips I use in all of my builds... I buy them from the best Canadian online FPV shop, Rotor Village โช@rotorvillageโฌ These are the ones I explusively use: rotorvillage.c... - note they are 6s version, so connected directly to the XT60 leads on my 6s quad configuration. I just make connectors so it's easy to unplug/plug them if needed.

Yes, literally! I enjoy it so much, just watching it... let alone when I start flying this build. Unfortunately I have not had enough spare time to setup/update firmwares on this build yet, ad go out and fly it... but I am planning to do some setup today.
Nice clean build. The tpu parts give it a nice flair. You're relatively new to building but clearly you take time and care to do it properly. Keep it up, the more you do the more you'll impress yourself. You'll learn over time, what works and what doesn't, and what you should have done differently.

Just finished setting everything up (Avatar sky unit, updatd FC, configured BlueJay on ESCs and updated my true diversity receiver. I have never had such a smooth process with any of my previous custom builds, and the truth is, it was going pretty smooth even with those... This one is special I guess :)

I've had to install my FC seemingly every direction possible lol. always a battle, and I'm always impressed when a whoop frame is designed with building in mind. Like my bee35, not my favorite whoop, but the frame was designed with every part in mind.
looking at all that room on the 5" though, doesn't seem to be quite as confined as the tiny whoops. I love the El Toro tpu, it's like a texas low rider ;)
So much attention to detail, that is what I absolutely love about your builds. Excellent solder balls as well! I love black and red, the leds look awesome! Looks like Cookie likes it too๐

Great video, but hotter soldering iron needed, solders looked dry as, aka not a nice shiny flowed bubble. I had same problem before. Especially for power of ESC.
Your motor wire solders were better, so get hotter iron for bigger wires is the trick.
Thanks for the tips. Unfortunately that's not the case here. 400 degrees is more than hot, I usually do everything at max 350. The problem is my old flux, and I am in process of replacing it. All connections are solid now, I did a reflow afterwards. It's not easy to record some process that lasted over two days total, and keep all the footage. Video is already too long even like this. I have never had a single problem with any of my previous 6 builds and I always used the same technique. It's clean, and the most important thing is, there is no residue left, no solder blobs around, no flux spilled. I would never take any of my custom builds for a maiden in case I have not checked all the connections and did a stress test on the same. Again, iron was super hot, my flux paste is probably 3 or 4 years old now. That's the problem.

That is a great advice! To tell you the truth, I was always kind of afraid to go above 400... always had it at the back of my head that I'd damage ESC if I hold that soldering tip too long on the pads. And sometimes it seems like it's stubborn and does not want to melt anything. Flux is the answer, but unfortunately I am stuck with this old one for now (ordered new one though). I'll tty 450 next time, thanks!

I am always trying to find some good components that are not damaging our wallets too much. Well, FPV is one of the most expensive hobbies, if not the most expensive one, out there. And it's not that easy to find affordable, good parts. But I'm in love with SpeedyBee v3 and v4 and they have never failed me. Installed BlueJay on all of them so I can enable bidirectional DShot, and none of them (F405) flies any worse than any of my F722. This time I took my chances with Flywoo GOKU F722. Really inexpensive stack, and it looks amazing.

Thank you! Yes, I fly with Dji goggles v2 and Walksnail Avatar Fat Shark Dominator HD v1 since the beginning basically (when I started some year ago). Half of my quads is on Dji, and the other half on Walsknail Avatar. I switch from one to another when needed, and I love both systems equally. When set up correctly, I practically can't see the difference between the two. I enjoy them equally. In this video I will post a link, you can see the comparison between the Dji and Avatar HD Pro... somewhere around the mid-video, you will be able to see comparison between the two cameras during the night flying... big, big difference. This frame is amazing ineed! It is pricey and that's the truth we can't run away from... but it's worth it, every single penny.

I will publish them as soon as I'm done setting up this build and maiden it. The thing is, all of them are branded with my nick-name, and in order to release them to public, I'll have to redesign couple of little things first. Not sure anyone would like thair quads to have my name all over their TPU parts. I will have to make generic versions of each one. Once I am done with that, I will post links inside the video description, just as I did with my Tango 2 /Boxer / Zorro sound packs for FreedomTx and EdgeTX.
You could save a bit of space by not using nylock nuts on the stack. Regular nuts will work fine (just dont use nylon)
Good to know. You mean because nylock ones are little taller? I just wanted to use all the parts that came inside the package (frame), but in the future I might get rid of most of the TPUs and of course thingies like the one you've mentioned. โ@@Seii-FPV yes, exactly. I've done over 100 builds and I've found out that when it comes to clearance for straps, wires, etc, every millimeter you save really helps. Just remember, when using metal nuts on the stack screws, crank em down as tight as you can, they'll be fine. Use nylock nuts on the top of the stack screws, on top of the stack.
And you see... because of people like yourself, who are ready to unselfishly help with nice advices, or even with constructive criticism which eventually, sooner or later makes us all who understand it, much better in these things we love to do. Thank you for your input, it's always more than welcome! That's how one learns, and that is a prime example of how good experienced pilots help newbies. I follow FPV and I am in love with it since 2018, but I started building my first custom quads just a year and a half ago. About a year ago, I finally got courage to start flying, and now I constantly feel like I'm totally addicted. For me, this is not something temporarily, something that will ever fade away, I don't even look at it as a hobby... I see it as a way of living. FPV allowed us to see this world from completely different perspective and while doing it, be as creative as we possibly could be. Not even the sky is the limit, literally.

Man, I've been doing the same for some time. I simply trust my SpeedyBee F405 v3 and even more the v4 for quite some time... but this F722 had too good price to pass by. I can't say anything about it unfortunately, still haven''t had time to do a proper setup for this new build, but I am planning to do that today, and take it for a maiden one of the upcoming couple of days.

I almost always run all kinds of cables in between my ESC and FC. Every single custom build (7 so far), flies like a UFO, absolutely no problems. I have maiden flights for all of them up on my channel. Can't wait for ugly weather to clean up in my area, so I can do a proper maiden with this last build.

Nope, as long as your wires are properly insulated, there is absolutely nothing that would interfere in any way. I mean what's inside those wires, is already on the pads that are on that same ESC. I was originally going to install them under the ESC, between the ESC and the bottom of the frame... but I was too lazy to replace the XT60 lead. This one is long, but not long enough if I wanted to run it under the ESC (only because of the way I would have to solder the ends to the pads). This way, it fits perfectly. Ideally, I always love when FC orientation is as it should be, 0 degrees... but in this case that was not an option and I had to install my FC 180 degrees.

GepRC Mark 5 is an amazing frame. That quad (my 3rd custom build) is still one of my best flying quads. I have not had enough time to go through the setup of my last, 7th build (planning to do that today), so I did not go out and fly it yet... but Apex frame... truth is, it's quite expensive (considering you can get amazing frames such TBS Source One v5 is, for as low as $29), but the way carbon was cut, precision in which screw holes were punched, it's incredible and I can see where that pricing is coming from. This frame is one of the best out there, no questions about it. I am not saying other ones are not good (I have not tried them all), but out of all frames I've purchased, this is by far the best, at least a mile above all the others. The only one that comes even close to Apex is my QAV-S JohnnyFPV Special Edition frame (my very first custom build, all build videos are up on my channel).

Greatly appreciated, but the thing is... my goal is actually not to get more subscribers (I never liked the idea of "leaders" and "followers", generally with anything in life). I simply keep this channel alive, only as my personal online video archive, so I can track my FPV progress (flying, building, 3D modeling, etc.) and hopefully help others who have questions that are answered in one of my videos. That's really my only goal. Financially, I don't need any revenue from this, my wife and I work hard to make this life easier, and it's been like that since forever. Not even a single video on my channel is monetized, and I plan to keep it that way (and there is a lot, literally a tons of videos up there). As I mentioned in one of my other replies, I did not have enough spare time to do a proper setup, like I did on all my other custom builds, I even recorded the whole process. You can check my 6th build setup video. I don't want to rush it, and I always want to make sure I've covered every single point. Updating ELRS receiver, updating FC firmware, installing BlueJay on ESC, and in this case I have even more work to do... I have to setup up my FC orientation at 180 degrees in BF, and then reorder motor resources. I also have to update Avatar firmware. Only when all that is done, I will take it for a maiden, and probably do some prompt recording. Hope I will be able to do it over the next couple of days.

I don't like releasing something if it's not fully tested. Unfortunatelly I didn't have any time to setup this quad completely, so I were not able to fly and test everything as I always do with every single build and STL files. Once I see they are OK to be release, only then I publish them to one of the STL hosting sites. I usually go through couple of revisions, until I am 100% sure everything is as it should be.

Once I finish all the testing and polish all the TPU designs, I will publish them to some 3D modeling site. They all have my logo imprinted on them, and I am sure not all would like to have it on their quads. I might leave a "Design by Seii-FPV" somewhere though.

@@craigchin5306 - it could be a security issue as well. I can't provide them with my logo. In case someone crashes into a crown, God forbid damage the property or even worse hurt someone, drone plastered with my logos would be on the scene. Not a good picture IMHO :( I need to change them into something else, that's definitely what's going to happen. Unfortunaely, I can't get enough free time to work on that at the moment. Once it's done, I will upload them to one of my 3D printing sites accounts.

Can I ask how you attached the elrs receiver under the frame?
Double-sided gel tape. That alone holds it without any possibility for receiver to move, plus all the wires are tucked inside the frame limiting the movement as well. At the end, I used small TPU strip to add another layer of protection, and it screws exactly to where those two screws are around the receiver. It's like little safety belt holding the receiver tied to those two screws. Totally unnecessary, double-sided gel tape is more than enough. Every single quad I've built so far has it like that, and I have never had a single case of receiver detaching or even slightly moving around.
...also, you can have a look at my 6th custom build video, and exactly at 27 minutes and 21 seconds into that video, you can actually see I did the same (that little cyan TPU bar securing the receiver) on my 6th custom 5" build.
