This is so me and my mom, I remember when I was little there was this cheesy song that would always come up in the radio that was named “mi cachito, mi pedazo de angelito”and she would always sing it to me, it’s about the love a mother has for his child. but I would always try to make her not sing it, I don’t know I just can’t explain how it made me feel but I secretly liked it.
You ever notice with your favorite songs you keep listen and listening hoping you can get the feeling of the first time you heard the masterpiece.... just like a drug
My family once bought a house off wreckless eric. That house was the one that he lived in in France. He used our living room as a recording studio, holes for wires are actually still in the walls. Also at the beginning of the song depression you can hear a guitar, we actually still have that guitar.
Before this concert, I had only taken the time to listen to Ain't no rest for the wicked, Trouble, and Cold Cold Cold, and while they're all great songs, I never really listened to any of their other music. I really gotta hand it to my father, he has a damn good taste in music.
cagetheelephant i went to this concert :) it was my first ever real concert and i've listened to them ever since i was in elementary school. i live in BG so it was cool that i was finally able to see them. also, @ matt, mrs. Paisley talked about you ALL the time lmao
I've been searching for weeks trying to find this version of this song. They play it on the radio all the time here in SoCal. This is the best version of this song bar none!
It's a great version...but the original is a timeless classic that helped change music forever... It was the inspiration for a great deal of pop/punk and new wave music that followed in the 80's and 90's. Yes, this is awesome.... but the original is timeless.
Found him at a local grocery stocking dairy products. New from the moment I met him, he gave me the butterflies. Fast forward 5 years, we are about to get married. I won the jackpot at the dairy department. He's my whole world. And that's how love should feel :)
Cage the elephant is a great band, they are right in the middle of pure talent and smart commercialism, their songs are very good on their own, and they work great for the radio as well, which in fact is a really nice balance in today's mainstream
Cage The Elephant sound a cross between The Rolling Stones meeting T. Rex in this! Superb and really like this band. Good to know good music melodies/choruses are still around :)
To anybody who says this isnt a cover, you are wrong. Cover of Whole Wide World by Wreckless Eric. The Bahamas also did a cover of it too so dont think they are the first to play it.
[Verse 1] When I was a young boy My momma said to me "There's only one girl in this world for you And she probably lives in Tahiti" [Chorus] I'd go the whole wide world Go the whole wide world Just to find her [Verse 2] Or maybe she's in the Bahamas Where the Caribean Sea is blue Weeping in the tropical moonlit night Because nobody's talking about you [Chorus] I'd go the whole wide world Go the whole wide world Just to find her I'd go the whole wide world Go the whole wide world To find out where they hide her I'd go the whole wide world Go the whole wide world Just to find her [Verse 3] Am I hanging around in the rain right here Trying to pick up a girl Why are my eyes Filling up with these lonely tears When there's girls all over the world Is she lying on some tropical beach somewhere Underneath a tropical sun Pining away in a heat wave there Hoping that I won't be long I should be lying on that sun swept beach with her Caressing her warm brown skin And then in a year or maybe not quite We'll be sharing the same next of kin [Chorus] I'd go the whole wide world Go the whole wide world Just to find her I'd go the whole wide world Go the whole wide world To find out where they hide her I'd go the whole wide world Go the whole wide world Just to find her [Chorus] I'd go the whole wide world Go the whole wide world Just to find her I'd go the whole wide world Go the whole wide world To find out where they hide her I'd go the whole wide world Go the whole wide world Just to find her I'd go the whole wide world Go the whole wide world To find out where they hide her
whatever happens happens my boyfriend has sent me this song and I haven't heard it previously. Whenever I'm listening to a new song I like seeing the lyrics.
Ana Banana that's fine chick. But if you listen to the song properly you will hear the words. This song was made years before RUclips and people knew the lyrics
I cannot get enough of them or this song or them again. My world feels much better with them in it. Gr8ful. PS: Love the double snare shots @ 1:46 ....
I didn't know this was a cover, or who this band was, until today, and I don't know what songs they have, yet, but I'm already in love with this performance, so I'm having high hopes.
In the realm of covers, this is right up there with Cash covering Hurt and Aretha Franklin's amazing rendition of Respect. You guys have been amazing every time I've caught you at some festival or another. Thanks for the music!
Mats Looman I came here because my dad told me that a band my sister likes covered a song by a guy my dad and I like. i had to hear how they did it, and so far I prefer Eric's. I enjoyed the way he did his voice for the song and how he made the chourus diffrent from the rest of the lyrics with his voice.
I really liked this song because it seemed like.a good old fashioned song. Later I find out it came out in the late 70's no wonder I like it lol. I was hoping more modern artists make new songs that sound like this.
For anyone saying their old stuff is better or whatever... things change. This is great. TMIP was great. Their first album is great. It's all Cage and it's all great.
It's the only band i feel connected to.. Although i don't feel we've grown the same way, i see where there lives have taken them through their music. It might not be "me" anymore, but I they strung me in with their music in a way i've never felt.. I'll always feel connected to them, even if it isn't music
His dance at 1:44 makes me happy! He's so into this song and it shows!
😃😃😃😨😨😨
That's what I'm talking about.
Me too!!. I love it.
The dance at 1:44 makes me happy also!!
The words! 💕
I just love the way he’s feeling the music
Respect to Cage the Elephant for covering Wreckless Eric
While this IS a cover. It's a good one.
Used at my wedding for mine and the wife's entrance to our wedding reception/party :D
Mick Jagger, is that you? I love his energy and the way he dances when he sings "I should be lying on that sun swept beach with her."
"Flours...I brought you flours."
Hahaha you're here too😂
Stranger Than Fiction. A little late to the party but I made it.
@@johnnyc1352 You're not late. Welcome! :)
Matthews' voice sounds so tender in this song and telescope, i simple love him
I sing this to my daughter she pretended to not like it until I caught her singing it when she thought I couldn't hear😊
Hearing my babygirl sing gets me all cheesy too. Especially if it's a song I love.
@@bengutierrez4613 Paul McCartney put it there is a good one
This is so me and my mom, I remember when I was little there was this cheesy song that would always come up in the radio that was named “mi cachito, mi pedazo de angelito”and she would always sing it to me, it’s about the love a mother has for his child. but I would always try to make her not sing it, I don’t know I just can’t explain how it made me feel but I secretly liked it.
@@peckz. I get my daughter on video when she sings I do it discreetly then show it to her afterwards lol
@@UpChuckTheBoogie 😂
I'd go the whole wide world for new Cage the Elephant music
😨😨😨😨
i think you’ve found it :)
Lol have you heard social cues?
My friend let me tell you...
I know
What a fresh sound! The orchestra really makes it! Hooked on these guys.
You ever notice with your favorite songs you keep listen and listening hoping you can get the feeling of the first time you heard the masterpiece.... just like a drug
words can't describe how much i miss this concert :(( best concert of my life
Lauren Hawkins I agreee!!
where was this at?
Brooklyn Lugar The Ryman in Nashville I think!
Ryman in Nashville, was an amazing concert.
miss the ryman concert 😫
...and then it hits me several minutes later. This is a 70's Wreckless Eric song.
ruclips.net/video/T9NqnzPc-Ic/видео.html the original from a French TV show 1980
Yeah... funny when people claim Google as an extension of their own memory.
Matt Marzula lol
very uplifting cover
And the Monkees cover didn't come out until 1987 on Pool It.
My family once bought a house off wreckless eric. That house was the one that he lived in in France. He used our living room as a recording studio, holes for wires are actually still in the walls. Also at the beginning of the song depression you can hear a guitar, we actually still have that guitar.
This band is just amazing and perfect.
True that, true that.
Before this concert, I had only taken the time to listen to Ain't no rest for the wicked, Trouble, and Cold Cold Cold, and while they're all great songs, I never really listened to any of their other music. I really gotta hand it to my father, he has a damn good taste in music.
They’re great but I hope you know Wreckless Eric the original is amazing too!
Most excellent !
Matt's energy is still consistent, even in a stripped down acoustic set haha! love it!
Its great
Found her at a struggling bakery when he was auditing her, gave her flours
😃😃
Winslow Cross hahaha now that’s what I call stranger than fiction 😂
Get bent! TAX! MAAN!
Yes, I too found this song from the film years ago.😁
Legit just watched it last night

cagetheelephant so glad you guys release this :)

Whole wide world and shake me down are my favourites!
Congrats😃
There has always been something so magical about this group of young men
That was SUPERLATIVE! LOVED the addition of a string section!
The Whole Wide World needs this band!
I agree!!
I've been searching for weeks trying to find this version of this song. They play it on the radio all the time here in SoCal. This is the best version of this song bar none!

These guys are awesome!!!!! Wreckless Eric should be proud!!
Not often that I say a cover is better than the original. But this is one! ❤
So excited to hear this album. Been a fan for years and it's gonna be awesome to listen to a live album.
Found him at a local grocery stocking dairy products. New from the moment I met him, he gave me the butterflies. Fast forward 5 years, we are about to get married. I won the jackpot at the dairy department. He's my whole world. And that's how love should feel :)
when the wedding
I love this entire band and he is a great dancer and really brings it. They all do. At any age. This is a great version. My favorite.
Wait till you see Beck dance
Cage the elephant is a great band, they are right in the middle of pure talent and smart commercialism, their songs are very good on their own, and they work great for the radio as well, which in fact is a really nice balance in today's mainstream
NEW ALBUM I REPEAT NEW ALBUM.
if you check the iTunes link in description it seems these are just live versions of old songs.
2 new songs
Iqah A live album
it's an acoustic album
Iqah A I pray
I find Matt Shultz to be very Mick Jaggeresque in his performances on stage. They do an unbelievable live show. #cte
Yes they are unbelievably good in concert. They are better than good in concert.
PJ Goedhals totally agree.
The Good Doctor 💙
I wanna move like Shultz 🕺🏼
Lil I. He gets his moves from Jagger
+Alec Fulayter he gets his moves from his self:)
He really enjoy his music.. and i quest who not?
The best band ever and have only recently found them. Great setting for this shame the crowd didn’t really join in.
this makes me want a TLSP and Cage the Elephant supergroup
I think Mick Jagger has a lot of questions to answer! : ) Fantastic stuff : ) Infectious joy!
This cover is live yet sounds over-produced and the original is in studio yet sounds raw and powerful
I loved that nashville's sound, can't wait to the album guys! 💃💃
Que banda, que música, que feeling!!!!
Nothing will ever beat the Wreckless Eric version, but this is a more than decent cover of a classic.
Beautiful performance! Nice song as well! Beautiful filmed! We hope to have live video just like this! Congrats guys!
Brilliant version of a brilliant song by a brilliant band
Best concert I been to 🙏🏻
NO BAND HAS EVER MADE ME THIS HAPPY.noting has> :)
the best band, I'll go to one of their concerts I promise ;)
Excellente prestation ce soir en première partie des Stones à Paris.
They kick so much ass. Thats rock n roll!!
Cage The Elephant sound a cross between The Rolling Stones meeting T. Rex in this! Superb and really like this band. Good to know good music melodies/choruses are still around :)
Never clicked on something so fast
Very nice cover!! well done!
Good energy.
Wreckless Eric wrote this - belter. It was written before pretty much everyone at this gig was born and still gets people dancing.
This song is beautiful 💜 can't wait for the new album 🤤
I was there !! Holy Shit what a performance, and when Jared and brad brought their daughters on stage ! Awesome
To anybody who says this isnt a cover, you are wrong. Cover of Whole Wide World by Wreckless Eric. The Bahamas also did a cover of it too so dont think they are the first to play it.
So did The Monkees in '87.
point proven
will ferrell did as well. in stranger than fiction
This is my favorite cover as of right now!
This was such an amazing concert that night, I'll never forget it!
Lucky!!!
I love Matt's energy in this
Little did he know that this simple, seemingly innocuous act would result in his imminent death.
So good. Met them a few years ago and they were every bit as lovely as they seem too.
this song makes me happy
Wreckless Eric cover! Awesome!
[Verse 1]
When I was a young boy
My momma said to me
"There's only one girl in this world for you
And she probably lives in Tahiti"
[Chorus]
I'd go the whole wide world
Go the whole wide world
Just to find her
[Verse 2]
Or maybe she's in the Bahamas
Where the Caribean Sea is blue
Weeping in the tropical moonlit night
Because nobody's talking about you
[Chorus]
I'd go the whole wide world
Go the whole wide world
Just to find her
I'd go the whole wide world
Go the whole wide world
To find out where they hide her
I'd go the whole wide world
Go the whole wide world
Just to find her
[Verse 3]
Am I hanging around in the rain right here
Trying to pick up a girl
Why are my eyes Filling up with these lonely tears
When there's girls all over the world
Is she lying on some tropical beach somewhere
Underneath a tropical sun
Pining away in a heat wave there
Hoping that I won't be long
I should be lying on that sun swept beach with her
Caressing her warm brown skin
And then in a year or maybe not quite
We'll be sharing the same next of kin
[Chorus]
I'd go the whole wide world
Go the whole wide world
Just to find her
I'd go the whole wide world
Go the whole wide world
To find out where they hide her
I'd go the whole wide world
Go the whole wide world
Just to find her
[Chorus]
I'd go the whole wide world
Go the whole wide world
Just to find her
I'd go the whole wide world
Go the whole wide world
To find out where they hide her
I'd go the whole wide world
Go the whole wide world
Just to find her
I'd go the whole wide world
Go the whole wide world
To find out where they hide her
Sigh. World is too big. Can't find my queen. :c
Jackson Jotaeme why do you think no one knows the lyrics. Do you post lyrics to every song on youtube
whatever happens happens my boyfriend has sent me this song and I haven't heard it previously. Whenever I'm listening to a new song I like seeing the lyrics.

Best cover of this song I've heard. Adds an even deeper 60s new wave mod dimesion than Eric's record.
it really should say somewhere that this is a cover, because obviously most people have no idea
i had no idea until i looked up the lyrics
Lauren Graves this isn't a cover? it's there new album
This is indeed a cover...great one though. This great tune is written by Wreckless Eric in 1978

Yeah, it's a great version, but I agree that I think it'd be cool if they gave some credit to the original artist.
brilliant absolutely brilliant,,,
Who remember "Stranger than fiction" movie? Favourite movie + favourite song cover. 😍
Whata fucking performance for such a chill ass song...THIS IS HOW A SINGER DOES IT if they're not going to be playing an instrument
Amazing cover👏 the whole wide world is one of my favourite songs I love wreckless Erick and this cover is just fantastic
Catchy, foot-tapping, head-bobbing tune. Keep it up guys!
You gotta love 2 chords songs. It werks! 😂🤣
Emporer's New Clothes by Sinead O'Connor equally fine example
thumbs up! love this song, love this band, bring the two together and....well...one happy camper!!!!
Great version/cover!🎙🎙🎻🎸🎸🎶🎵 The strings & extra guitar parts just make this OG song come alive!
TRUTH
I really liked this song because it seemed like.a good old fashioned song. Later I find out it came out in the late 70's no wonder I like it lol. I was hoping more modern artists make new songs that sound like this.
I'm still recovering that they announced a new album just like that BOOOOOM I am shook thanks god for these guys
I dedicate this to my two guys! My Sons! They aren’t only beautiful, but have the charisma to back it up! Life can be so beautiful! Cheerio! ☀️😘
You sound like a good mother
OMG I WAS THERE
I loved hearing this song when y'all came to the Lincoln theater. Please keep making music
I'm so glad that this old Wreckless Eric song is being remembered. Leave it to CTE to remember the greatest songs that have been forgotten.
My love found me from across many country borders, in the Whole Wide World! I love you B.
For anyone saying their old stuff is better or whatever... things change. This is great. TMIP was great. Their first album is great. It's all Cage and it's all great.
