GENTING HIGHLANDS MALAYSIA: NOT WHAT I EXPECTED!

- Today @FieldofVisions and I head outside of Kuala Lumpur to Genting Highlands in Malaysia which is a theme park in a mountain (or las vegas?). It is 1800m above ground and features a hotel, casino, indoor & outdoor theme park and much more. We couldn't believe this is in Malaysia!

Going to Genting was an absolute treat . Before the big renovation, it was a whimsical old school park that was like a dreamland on the hill. Had a school field trip there once, pleasant memories. Now it's way out of most local's budget ... 😶. If you can enjoy yourself there, it's worth a trip , though weather is always unpredictable.

@@SkyeSamuels 1st i heard is dubai, 2nd in japan, 3rd is genting. I am not sure if western countries have indoor theme parks because it can be used 365 days per year. Regardless of weather.

I heard that there will be a Christmas event call "Genting Winter Wonderland" festival where they gonna drop a man-made snow every 30 minutes from 6pm to 11pm and its free! It will be more snowier and magical than ever with festive untill 1 January 23 new year

Before Covid hit worldwide , most local and foreigners really like to spend their holiday time in Sunway Lagoon ..I would say it was the best theme park in this country

The old theme park, Rollercoaster was in the cloud... because it was outdoor. n more thrill when we're realised we were flying in cloud at the peak of the mount.

The old theme park, the roller coaster was also small but scary too. I tried it once long ago.
If you guys spend 2 days or more at genting, you can try one of the hotels there especially the ones at higher elevations so you can live and walk in the clouds 😊, and you set out from KL early say 8am, then at the foot of the hill as you exit the karak highway before you drive up to genting itself, you can stop over at the rest area first for nice simple breakfast, there is a nice food court where you can have local food like *nasi lemak, mee goreng + telor mata kerbau, roti bakar/kawin* etc.
Then midway up you can also visit colmar village, I enjoyed a few hours there petting and feeding colorful cute birdies and bunnies. Then you can proceed up to genting itself 👍

Great video. Just come back from Malaysia and the family visited Genting amongst many other attractions around KL. We are English visiting family. Love KL and we loved Skyworld. Your footage on the roller coaster made me smile because that was such fun. The kids hotel is great and outside theme park was really worth a visit. They love an upside-down ride in Malaysia! 😊 Still got the holiday blues so watching your vid has helped. X

If you like rollar coasters get yourself to Fuji Q highlands in Japan with backdrop of Mt Fuji it has some of the most crazy rides iv been on for adults . Another great content video good old Harry Rams everywhere these days. I actually had Fish N Chips in KL yesterday and it was suprisingly good .

Outdoor theme park is must visit when you go to genting. But now the price too expensive because they just renovated and build the new design and games for outdoor theme park. I miss the old outdoor theme park with affordable price.

I would say it probably wouldn’t be a great idea post surgery. It wasn’t the most comfortable 🙈

You're less half an hour from bukit tinggi, interesting place to go.

Next time you go , you can visit the premium outlet place . They sell like off season good for a discounted price but do not like purposely plan a trip there is more of a on the way kind of place drop by kind of place

Genting after renovations is kinda mid. Used to have fun there but now its just boring. But thx for checking out the place

The outdoor park was meant to be the world's first 21st Century Fox Studios Park but Disney pulled the plug after acquiring Fox as they didn't want their properties to be associated with casinos and now they are embroiled in a court case. It's a real shame for both parties. Genting spent a lot for that park and decided to go ahead without using the characters or themes from Fox.

Some of the cooler attractions in the outdoor theme park are still closed because it's technically a soft launch.
We went there in August after 10 years of hiatus and decided against paying RM151 for the entry. It was simply not worth the price. 10 years ago, the old outdoor theme park was only RM 44 (of course the Singapore Malaysia exchange rate was less favourable then but that only cost $18, vs $45 now)
