  • I HEARD IT THROUGH THE GRAPEVINE
A classic soul song that achieved immense popularity through multiple iconic renditions. Originally recorded by Smokey Robinson and the Miracles in 1966, it was Marvin Gaye’s 1968 version that skyrocketed to fame, becoming a defining track of his career. Gaye's intense, soulful interpretation topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart and became one of Motown's biggest hits.
A year prior Gladys Knight & the Pips released their interpretation. It featured a faster tempo and a more upbeat arrangement, reaching #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #1 on the R&B chart.
The song's enduring appeal was further demonstrated by Creedence Clearwater Revival's 1970 rendition. Though it did not chart as highly as the previous versions, their lengthy, blues-rock interpretation introduced the song to a new audience and solidified its status as a timeless classic.
These different versions by Marvin Gaye, Gladys Knight & the Pips, and Creedence Clearwater Revival highlight the song's versatility and its powerful impact across different music genres and generations
