Just bought one from Home Depot. I think I paid 219 for it though. Question ; A guy at Home Depot told me that all pneumatic guns are made by Porter cable, including the Dewalt nail guns. Do you know if this is true?
Hey, nice video! I saw someone mentioning about use of special nails--can't remember if it was this model or another. But I wanted to ask if this takes standard 15 gauge nails? Doesn't need any particular potentially hard to get supply, right? Cheers!
@@berlinbuilds Thanks! I also saw a lot of reviews on their official website saying that it can't truly take 2,5 inch nails? It's specified to do so. What's your experience with that?
I’ve ran tens of thousands of 2.5” nails through it. I usually just grab them at Home Depot and usually they are DeWalt brand, so maybe DeWalt measure wrong and they made it so all of their nails work with the gun still, I’m not sure. Now I’m really curious why those people said they couldn’t load 2.5” nails
@@berlinbuilds Ok, yeah weird! I thought it sounded kinda unlikely if DeWalt specifies that it can. You can see it for yourself on their official website, several of them actually-- but maybe they're just trolling! Thanks for clearing that up!! I was considering to take one of these off of eBay actually, used one, but idk if it's a good idea.
@@Nettle314 happy to help! I'm usually a little leery of buying used tools I haven't been able to handle and maybe try out myself. Depending on how much of a price cut you're getting it might be worth it though!
Thank you! I prefer the Dewalt over the Metabo. It feels less clunky, has a rafter hook on it, and the nail holes it makes are smaller and cleaner than the Metabo. I like that it sprays out air out of the nose as well compared to the Metabo spraying out of the back of the unit. The tip on the Dewalt seems to work better too. Both are good guns, but the Dewalt definitely feels better engineered and a better value.
I purchased this nailer today, and I am not sure why you mentioned oiling it. On page 11 of the owner's manual under Lubrication it says, "Caution: Never spray, or in any other way apply lubricants or cleaning solvents inside the tool. This can seriously affect the life and performance of the tool. Dwalt tools are properly lubricated at the factory and are ready for use. However it is recommended that, once a year, you take or send the tool to a certified service center for a thorough cleaning and inspection."
It was my mistake! I oiled this for the first good while of having it just from habit of other nail guns I have had. Another user commented something similar and I realized my mistake!
Sorry to hear that. Could it be your hose connection by chance? DeWalt is pretty good about standing by their products and you can reach out to them about getting it fixed.
Really? I’ve been running 2.5” nails through it for a few months now. Did you get the right angle and gauge? That’s a strange one to run into. Good luck!
No worries! Hey, do you mind doing me a favor? I have this gun too and noticed a slight buzzing sound like air was leaking. I found it right at the small button you push to let out air for cleaning debris. It's a constant small leak (without pressing the button). With your nailer connected to the air supply do you mind putting your ear up to that button and seeing if you hear something similar? Thought I'd ask since mine is basically brand new. Thanks.
That's kind of an odd one. I haven't had that happen on mine at all. Is it a pretty loud buzzing sound? Mine doesn't seem to be making any noise at all.
@@berlinbuilds hey, it was a faint noise but, ended up exchanging it and that noise isn't there on the new one. So was definitely a leak. Thanks again for checking yours
@@shivraj67 No problem! I’m glad you were able to return it to get one without that issue. My short air hose leaks (need to replace it) and it is frustrating to have the air compressor kick on more than it needs to!
Best overview of this gun online. Great job! I just bought one from Home Depot!
Thank you! Have fun with it! Mine is still my favorite 👍
Great for trim? Making a coffered ceiling
Thanks
Great video!

Hi, thanks for the useful video. Just wondering what you think of this Dewalt compared to the Metabo HPT 15g you have used ?

Thanks! Let me know what you decide! It’s always fun buying a new nail gun 🤣

@@berlinbuilds Thanks for clarifying. You may want to edit your video before someone ruins their $200 nail gun.
Thanks Michael! I finally had a moment to edit it. It should appear corrected shortly!
Good thanks
Thank you!
What’s the model number
I have the same and I start to leak air from where the air from the button

I bought same gun and it says 2 1/2 nails and yeah they wont fit lol

Im serious lol i bought it today actually lol thats why i started searching for videos
Wow, crazy. Maybe try returning that one? I’m not sure why that’s happening.
I'm having the same issue. What did you end up doing?
@@sagestump5043 check the angle of the nails
That nailer is oil free
Wow, I didn’t know that. I just oiled it again today! Well, shoot. Thanks for letting me know! I looked it up and you’re totally right.

use 21ga for casing 18ga for base boards not 15😂
Not sure what casings you are doing, but a pin nailer wouldn’t work for most of the ones I do. Best of luck to you though!
