Could you do a theory video about how Yui was supposed to be the next avatar if the genocide never happened? I think the time line would add up if Aang lived out a whole lifespan? Also, it could explain why she was born the way she was (like without a spirit because she shouldn't have had the moon spirit as a part of her if she had a spirit of her own)
Kiyoshi lives to be like 230 by using an earth bending technique, so her long life would’ve created at least one if not 2 other hollow spirit vessels like Yue. It’s a cool theory I’ve seen floating around for a while but I think it’s very unlikely.
@@brayloncooper9092bro you dumb asf. After the Avatar dies Rava goes to the next element and already has a predetermined person in the future. Which is why Yui is very sick and doesnt survive until the moon spirit gave part of itself to Yui which was because of Rava contacting the moon spirit to make sure Yui would be alive after Aang dies but because of the circumstances Aang still lived on after the predetermined death and also is why Yui was so easily transformed into the moon spirit and how she was so spiritual was because she was supposed to be an avatar but didnt.
Here's how I treat Air Nomads: The Air Nations was 2 distinct and Separate cultures. The Airbender Monasteries, and the non-bending nomads. Bending is far more spiritual and religiously connected for them than the other Nations, so by wiping out the Temples and their knowledge, even if air benders are born, they have no guidance to actually properly learn it. Even the Bison were thought gone.
I think Aang traveling the world at 11 was partly because he was the Avatar. Like, sure, they're nomads, they all travel, but him making so many connections to so many cultures is because he's supposed to be connected to all the cultures.
Theory #1 - I always suspected that the sandbenders were the result of genetic mixing between earth and air. It just makes sense since that is literally it. Aside from under the fire lord's nose, the desert is the last place I would waste resources searching.
Take that a step further i5 would explain bolens lava bending, a mix of fire and earth. My theory is that explosion or combustion would be a mix of fire and air.
I've always thought it was more similar to what Iroh did, where he studied the other elements and developed his own ways of utilizing aspects of them. I wouldn't doubt it if at some point (way before the air nomad genocide if I had to guess), an earthbender chose to study the air nomads, and as a result, sandbending was created
Like Osai used to tell them Azula was born lucky ( her power and ability despite being a girl not expected to rule) zuko was lucky to be born ( being a boy and heir by birth)
Theory#4 - Umii also has the qualification of knowing healing as that is what water bending females in the north pole were taught. We never actually learn if she is a bender at all or not, but it wouldn't be hard to assume.
Your guys' best Avatar theory was definitely the one about the current Avatar looking like the previous Avatar's love interest, sorry to see that one not in the top 5 but these ones are also all really cool - especially the one about the Painted Lady Being Avatar Kurruk's Fiancee ^_^ A great watch thanks Ben and J!
I personally would've loved to see Ty Lee walking up to the air benders on her hands while blasting air from her feet. Which I am convinced would've happened if Ty Lee had of lived to harmonic convergence.
I feel like Monk Gyatso used a forbidden air bending technique. Some say he removed all the air from everyone in the room, maybe he created a high pressured air blast that messed up everyones organs
clicked on this without reading the title and was pleasantly surprised to find that it’s an hour long! Azula’s probably also my favorite villain, and I just love how thoroughly you guys dig into timelines in order to get the full facts.
This is one of the changes that I found actually sensible in the LA one. All the Airnomads gather for the Comet, which is why it was much easier to wipe them all out at once. Even with that, youd probably have _some_ stargglers, but not half as many
The new live action series came up with an explanation for the argument in the first theory. In the new series, the air nomad's were having a celebration for the comets' appearance, and they all went to the southern air temple. And they were all there when the fire nation attacked.
34:39 also even if Sozen had killed the tweleve year old avatar it wouldnt have helped since we know the way the avatar cycle works is AS SOON as one Avatar dies (lets say in this case as soon as Aang is killed by Sozen) the next Avatar is born so you would then have to search for that Avatar since they're born as soon as the previous one dies.
Wow. Haven’t gotten a rec for this channel in a long while, and it’s a compilation of old theories. XD Y’all should cover broader topics, cuz I miss the energy. Totally agree with the Ty Lee and Ummi ones.
I actually think she IS an airbender. She just makes it look like normal fighting. She found a way to focus her blasts on specific nerves. It never mentions how strong she really is but she’s thin and doesn’t do many strength based things so maybe instead she has help from something supernatural to get that extra strength to activate these nerves.
@@ChristopherPrice24 I remember hearing something a long time ago about this series and how it took the writers and producers a long time to just to make one episode because they wanted it to be so in depth and true to certain ways they were portraying fighting styles and how they correlate to the bending to make it more real and meaningful so this theory isn’t super far fetched , especially when this show is known to have so many hidden meanings behind things .
@@Kaydeep94they could probably start by digging into the various known Avatars to find commonalities. Like, how they described the previous water avatar in this video felt like he had a similar bold rashness as Korra which is interesting. Maybe there are other shared traits across the group and between elements, other than just a likelihood to be selfless and think for the greater good
So a theory I have that goes along with Ty Lee being a Air nomad is that her ancestors happened upon a airbender kid sometime during the purge. Maybe one that hadn't gotten their arrows yet. They then adopted them and raised them as their own child.
(*Potential spoilers*) I like how the live action tv show did it. There's essentially a holiday and all the air nomads gather to view the comet. Creates a perfect space for Sozan to strike at least most of them, then if he spends the rest of his life hunting any other nomad down he'd essential have "destoryed the air nation with sozans comet". It doesnt say he either did or didnt have to hunt down survivors later
If there is one thing I have learned about Avatar, there are really no small details that are coincidence. And you are correct, the Academy for Girls is a VERY prestigious school. You were of the very rich or exceptionally skilled if you went there.
I've always had the image of which ever brother isn't in the video is just listening to the other talk while sitting on a couch, every once in a while making a comment. This image comforts me.
Another point came from LoK. Aang married a Waterbender and in 3 attempts only produced 1 airbender.... technically 2 but for half the show Bumi was a non bender. If an airbender married a firebender then only produced either non benders or firebenders, she'd still have the Air Nomad blood but not the Airbending.
as a chef and reformed pyro the red part of the fire isn't actually a big deal to touch. I can't tell you how many times I've swept my hand through red fire without harm, except to the hairs on my arm. As a child one of my favorite things was the pressure of candle flames on my finger tips. You definitely don't want to dilly dally, but it's only like 1000 degrees. On the other hand, I touched blue fire exactly one time in my life.
I think you're right about Tylee because even in LOK there are new sky bisons, this would mean that Appa or any other bison before the 100 years war found a partner. maybe this partner was with Tylee's ancestors at the moment of the attack? animals THAT big can't hide for a hundred years.
Timestamps: 1:11 - "The most impressive thing [about Ty Lee's lineage] is that she's totally an Air Nomad." 12:21 - "Why are Azula's flames blue?" 24:34 - "Why did the Fire Nation kill all the dragons?" 39:12 - "Who is the Painted Lady?" 51:55 - "Why, after years of just capturing water benders, did the Fire Nation suddenly decide to kill Katara's mother?"
17:40 well, actually, if it's specifically a candle flame and you keep your finger moving pretty fast, you won't get burned, IF you're only touching the flame and not the wick. It might be a little warm, but not burning hot. Don't try this around kids, though, you'll give them the wrong idea.
Her grandfather was the avatar before Anag 16:50. I think it’s just blue to represent what big of a prodigy she suppose to be. Fire lord wanted insane strong kids😒reason why zuko mother was arranged marriage with him. She has a avatar bloodline
The thing about azula is that she once had orange fire remember. She is shown having orange fire whenever they talk about being better than Silk during the flashbacks it just shows she always have this perfection issue
Honestly with the Ty Lee learning chi blocking from her family makes a lot of sense, if you're an Airbender and you know if you air bend you'll be killed, it makes sense they'd learn another way to defend themselves, and in a way that doesn't actually harm someone, just disables them so they can get away
Glad you guys gave Azula some love. Honestly, Zuko and his emotional trama get too much love Azula doesn’t get enough. While we are meant to see Irsa as the better parent because she was to Zuko, she was really verbally/ emotionally abusive to Azula. And this was only when she was eight friking years old. On top of that, with only ozai around, she isn’t really given a place to reflect and she doens’t have an Iro figure for her being a more healthy parent figure of the same gender as their abuser. Also, when she ends the series, she’s emotionally destroyed with barely any help since Zuko chucks her in an asylum and then takes her to their mother her abuser.
Uh, no Irsa was never Abusive It was Ozai Final Story arc set of the Last Air Bender "You can't treat me like this, You can't Treat me like Zuko !!" ~ Azula right to Ozai Ozai even was the one too Banish Irsa making it impossible for Azula to have a Proper relationship with her mom
Well, she’s not as full on abusive as Ozai, but every scene in Zuko alone we see her interact with Irsa she’s very harsh constantly with her. While in the beach she plays this off as a joke, a very common response she still genuinely felt hurt that Zuko was loved more by Irsa who thought she as a young child was a monster which probably lead her to become a monster in a self fulfilling prophecy. Also, the beach shows a strange side in a scene where Zuko goes to their old beach house and is silently looking at the memories they made reflecting on how he’s changed and realized how any of those happy memories in hindsight are not, Azula comforts him and agrees that those times were so long ago. She then comforts Zuko, and say this place is depressing. It probably brings up similar feelings in Azula, but with no healthy outlet and living with ozai for most of her adolescence, who wouldn’t let emotion be shown as weakness so all these feelings would be bubbling to the surface,.
Hama isn't any worse of a person because of that theory. She's a villain from what we see in the show, and the theory seems legit, but it doesn't make her any worse. I don't think anyone would say "just stay in the cage", right?
Whoa. Never realized the visible fire is the effect of an atom losing energy. I remember the chem 101 courses and talk about dropping orbitals releases photons which may or may not appear on the visible light spectrum. The dots between that and fire just never connected in my head
14:53 Positive energy...and negative energy....slamming them together to create energy. So basically lightning benders were able to matter bend? Because taking matter and anti-matter and colliding them together creates immense energy.
It's supposed to mean they separate the charges and let the lightning form naturally as it happen in the clouds. But that's a nice POV you have there...
It would make sense that she'd be of air nomad lineage. Killing every single member of a nation is very difficult. You will always have people who had parents from different nations and a few will always be missed. Also there were exiles. Not everyone born into each nation were able to bend, but passed it down to others. It would make sense some of those people were missed. if you knew you'd be hunted down for having Air Nation lineage, you would probably hide that fact wherever you go. I would guess that when harmonic convergence happened and all those people gained bending abilities, they probably gained the elements they had lineage from.
2nd theory: Saying that Azula is the only one that can do colored fire is false. Zuko produces a little bit of rainbow flames in one of the comics, and there was someone who did white flames in the Kyoshi novels.
I think what Ty Lee does as far as chakra blocking and able to stop people from bending is similar to Amon’s blood bending. Almost like it’s been lead down by generation perfecting the ability to take people’s bending away permanently using blood bending. So I think Ty Lee is a blood bender
So quick theory off of the first one about ty Lee what if all the air benders that were "granted" air bending in season 3 of lok were all descendants of air benders that went into hiding after the air temples were wiped out
It really makes sense that Ty Lee's ancestors were protected by high ranking officials of the Fire Nation. Maybe that's exactly the reason why they were able to move away from the Air Temple the day Sozin attacked, they were tipped off by those high ranking officials that certainly knew of the Fire Nation's plan.
Ty Lee is an Air Nomad (some of her twin sisters may be Air Nomadic as well) based on her quick reflexes (which rules out the possibility of her being related to an Earth Nation civilian) and the fact that she also has the same eye colour as Aang. He's The Last Airbender, but she's most likely the only other Air Nomad besides him still alive during the series (until Aang and Katara gave birth to Tenzin many years later).
Theory 1: Don't think I mentioned it last time I saw the video but another point you forgot to mention as a strange coincidence is the fact that Aang later on learns more about Chakra from a monk at an abandoned Air Nomad temple.
i love azula too!! definitely my favorite villain ever. it’s a shame she didn’t get guidance like zuko did with iroh, she was really battling her demons all on her own no wonder she turned out the way she did
If ty lee's heritage is true you could even make a case for why they were septuplets. Avatar makes a strong emphasis on the world recovering its balance by itself. If after the air nomads' genocide the world was unbalanced thanks to its lack of nomads, maybe that fertility in pregnancies is one way of the world trying to rebalance
The existence of the air nomands is cannon. SPOILERS FOR LEGEND OF KORRA... In legend of Korra, when power starts returning, we learn that there are other nomads that were hidden. The trouble stems from the loss of the temples and the great monks there, as well as needing to hide. Being so hunted and being unable to practice their traditions they lost their knowledge of air bending. It's implied that only religious students and powerful monks regularly stayed at the temples. Being nomands, originally many were actually wandering the world and simply reporting back to a sort of council of sages. This is why the fire lord had to employ so many to seek out the monks even after the fact and why he was so convinced that the avatar could still be hiding somewhere. We know for a fact that the air nomads had some kind of information network, as we see the monks meet up to discuss things. It's likely that as war broke out, those who went into hiding were placed in places where they could keep an eye out. But when the temples fell and the avatar never came, people stayed hidden. This honestly explains Ty Lee. The circus was likely a netrual enough place to allow for nomads. Maybe it was even orginally ran by them. She might have been allowed to join because of an old family connection.
I think your theory is totally plausible and makes sense with the narrative. I'd add that it would have probably been pretty easy for air nomads to blend in with the Si Wong sandbenders after the purge

Kiyoshi lives to be like 230 by using an earth bending technique, so her long life would’ve created at least one if not 2 other hollow spirit vessels like Yue. It’s a cool theory I’ve seen floating around for a while but I think it’s very unlikely.
thats not how reincarnation works
@@brayloncooper9092bro you dumb asf. After the Avatar dies Rava goes to the next element and already has a predetermined person in the future. Which is why Yui is very sick and doesnt survive until the moon spirit gave part of itself to Yui which was because of Rava contacting the moon spirit to make sure Yui would be alive after Aang dies but because of the circumstances Aang still lived on after the predetermined death and also is why Yui was so easily transformed into the moon spirit and how she was so spiritual was because she was supposed to be an avatar but didnt.
Here's how I treat Air Nomads:
The Air Nations was 2 distinct and Separate cultures. The Airbender Monasteries, and the non-bending nomads.
Bending is far more spiritual and religiously connected for them than the other Nations, so by wiping out the Temples and their knowledge, even if air benders are born, they have no guidance to actually properly learn it. Even the Bison were thought gone.
42:44 Leaving us all to ask, will the real Painted Lady, please stand up?
Also Zuko being the first born, the expected heir
@@robinkholmes7127Actually he wasnt at first because iroh was originally 1st in line so his son that died would have been

Avatar should drop more books about everyone's lives after the war.
They released a whole lot of comics about their lives after the war
key word: "more"@@kims8752
Avatar studios which is ran by the og creators is making new animation of the gang all grown up!!
Theory#4 - Umii also has the qualification of knowing healing as that is what water bending females in the north pole were taught. We never actually learn if she is a bender at all or not, but it wouldn't be hard to assume.
I just started rewatching the show a few days ago so the timing couldn't be more perfect
Don’t forget the fact that Chi-blocking is a style that originated from airbenders to begin with.
Even with that, youd probably have _some_ stargglers, but not half as many
I've been seeing this theory for awhile now, and YES! I definitely think ty lee is an air nomad!
Well descended from them, There'd be some serious inbreeding over 100 years and only a few air nomads around if she'd be pure air nomad by blood.
@@robinkholmes7127 exactly!! Which is why she isnt fully airbending but has the agility of an air nomad
The new live action series came up with an explanation for the argument in the first theory. In the new series, the air nomad's were having a celebration for the comets' appearance, and they all went to the southern air temple. And they were all there when the fire nation attacked.
I just said this we got it after 20 years later
I don't think he watched it because he thinks it bad like most people because of a movie should not e name
One hour?! Count me in. This is amazing!
They did though he was why they were killing water bender after
Wow. Haven’t gotten a rec for this channel in a long while, and it’s a compilation of old theories. XD
Y’all should cover broader topics, cuz I miss the energy.
She's an energy bender
Like Aang learns in the last 4 episodes
Ty Lee walked in knowing how to take you're bending
I love that the new show answers old questions in the 1st episode
Am I the only one who has ever wondered how Raava determines who she will bond with every time it's time for the Avatar to be reincarnated?
That would be a great video
@@Kaydeep94 agreed. But I'm honestly unsure if there is any info from the shows and books to go off of.
Maybe there are other shared traits across the group and between elements, other than just a likelihood to be selfless and think for the greater good
Shoutouts to the editor for precisely 10 +10 Fire Powers on screen.
You should do some ATLA what if videos!
I didn’t realize this video was a compilation at least and was wondering why J looked like an infant
100% agree. She has an air nomad grandparent or great-grandparent. Almost certainly would have to be her great grandma.
as a chef and reformed pyro the red part of the fire isn't actually a big deal to touch.
I wave my hand through my torch at full release and u can put ur hand over but only for a moment
Blue fire is actually the less hot part I noticed all the heat accumulates on the red part
@@DECA808 interesting, for me it was a small campfire, so there could have been significant other factors contributing.
@@jypsridic ya definitely
For the fire benders just using their bending to get to temples it could be very possible because is of sozens commet
I think you're right about Tylee because even in LOK there are new sky bisons, this would mean that Appa or any other bison before the 100 years war found a partner. maybe this partner was with Tylee's ancestors at the moment of the attack? animals THAT big can't hide for a hundred years.
27:08 Let it be known that from now on, I choose to call Aang's people airmads.
Timestamps:
1:11 - "The most impressive thing [about Ty Lee's lineage] is that she's totally an Air Nomad."
12:21 - "Why are Azula's flames blue?"
24:34 - "Why did the Fire Nation kill all the dragons?"
39:12 - "Who is the Painted Lady?"
51:55 - "Why, after years of just capturing water benders, did the Fire Nation suddenly decide to kill Katara's mother?"
Still super sad Hank G 21:41 didn’t do his own voice over for the quote
Is Ty Lee alive during the events of Ledgend of Korra I wonder if she would have got air bending when all the other humans where now able to air bend
I have a theory that the mysterious forest that felt alive in atla is a lion turtle
Uh, no Irsa was never Abusive
It was Ozai
Final Story arc set of the Last Air Bender
"You can't treat me like this, You can't Treat me like Zuko !!" ~ Azula right to Ozai
Ozai even was the one too Banish Irsa making it impossible for Azula to have a Proper relationship with her mom
Isn't their mom named Ursa
I’m rewatching ATLA now and just noticed in Zuko’s fight against Jet, at one point he made just a tinge of blue flame from his sword.
Keep the avatar content coming!
Identical septuplets is wild. I went to school with identical quadruplets and that always blew my mind.
I've had this headcanon forever~
absolutely love Ty Lee
It would make sense that she'd be of air nomad lineage. Killing every single member of a nation is very difficult. You will always have people who had parents from different nations and a few will always be missed. Also there were exiles. Not everyone born into each nation were able to bend, but passed it down to others. It would make sense some of those people were missed. if you knew you'd be hunted down for having Air Nation lineage, you would probably hide that fact wherever you go. I would guess that when harmonic convergence happened and all those people gained bending abilities, they probably gained the elements they had lineage from.
Favorite Avatar bad guy?
"Oh, a first edition! Very nice!"
Wan Shi Tong is just so relatable.
I wonder if Zuko could bend lightning after talking to the Dragons, but never tried.
He probably could it makes a lot of sense
2nd theory: Saying that Azula is the only one that can do colored fire is false. Zuko produces a little bit of rainbow flames in one of the comics, and there was someone who did white flames in the Kyoshi novels.
I think what Ty Lee does as far as chakra blocking and able to stop people from bending is similar to Amon’s blood bending. Almost like it’s been lead down by generation perfecting the ability to take people’s bending away permanently using blood bending. So I think Ty Lee is a blood bender
They set up traps to convince Airbenders that they were another surviving Airbender and that’s how they killed everybody that wasn’t at the temple
So quick theory off of the first one about ty Lee what if all the air benders that were "granted" air bending in season 3 of lok were all descendants of air benders that went into hiding after the air temples were wiped out
Perfexct timing for the new Live Action series❤
It really makes sense that Ty Lee's ancestors were protected by high ranking officials of the Fire Nation. Maybe that's exactly the reason why they were able to move away from the Air Temple the day Sozin attacked, they were tipped off by those high ranking officials that certainly knew of the Fire Nation's plan.
I did the math on Sozens comet, it's actually a + to fire power.
"Plus... How many?"
"Yes."
Yay, I wanted to take a nap and I get an hour long theory video to play. Heck yes.
Azula if she had not been so mad crazy, would be a good teacher to Ang when he needed a fire bender master.
I wonder what came 1st in fiction: the Black panther “astral plane” or the “avatar state”
If would have been really cool if during the last Agni Kai Azula’s fire was orange to show how her mental breakdown really affected her
Theory 1: Don't think I mentioned it last time I saw the video but another point you forgot to mention as a strange coincidence is the fact that Aang later on learns more about Chakra from a monk at an abandoned Air Nomad temple.
i love azula too!! definitely my favorite villain ever. it’s a shame she didn’t get guidance like zuko did with iroh, she was really battling her demons all on her own no wonder she turned out the way she did
If ty lee's heritage is true you could even make a case for why they were septuplets.
I love your enthusiasm for this gem of a show. Keep it going mate! Hopefully Netflix will keep the franchise going!
Jett is my favorite villain in the show . He was a freedom fighter though some of his ways wasn't right he truly cared for his people.
Wow, those theories are really great. Thanks for the enlightenment.
LOVE AVATAR. Here first
That last theory, makes SO much sense 🤯🤯
Avatar is one of my favorite series right behind house md and magicians awesome video ❤
J describing genocide: "That's just mean!"
I already knew the airbender theory,
but didn't know the septuplet fact.
Let me decide which is more impressive :P
Your videos are brilliant!
15:30 Azula having blue fire I think was just to differentiate during the duels between Zuko and Azula.
Each theory takes 20 minites to explain. 😂😂
I think your theory is totally plausible and makes sense with the narrative. I'd add that it would have probably been pretty easy for air nomads to blend in with the Si Wong sandbenders after the purge
I'm with you: I find it VERY hard to believe that fire nation could wipe out the entirety of a Nomadic people
I think the live action depicted it perfectly. The fire nation catapulted themselves up to the air nomads
