I drive a w202 c250 turbodiesel with 500k miles on it in 2024, still runs great, and you dont hear any noise inside it, only the engine, the radio and the turning lights. It also feels a lot confortable, better interior than most of new cars, even better than most of the new mercedes
mine is holding up amazingly well ,and it is a wayway better equipped 2200cc diesel model from the year 2000 (one of the last w202) i love it more than my brand new honda
I have a c200, 1996 classic. Best car I've ever had. Driving around is a pleasure, particularly when many around you wake up every day wishing you were dead!
1999 W202 CLASSIC 2 litre Good acceleration.. Braking and comfort So for a 19 year old car well looked after by the gray nomads .. What a great buy at 5% of the original price :)
That rear end is one of the best Benz rear ends. It set the path for the future generations sporting red and white triangle shaped tail lights and it looked just right.
i drive a ‘96 w202 2.2l sport with a manual and its an amazingly built car. truly a hidden german car gem. and they came in a lot of fun paint jobs and interior options so there are a lot of styles to choose from.
My dad has an 1994 w202 C220 diesel Om604 with nearly 1.000.000km. It has been in the family for 20 years and I love that car to bits. Although its in a really neglected condition because it has been daily used for work and traveled to places that not many people take their cars, it has never left us stranded. It's really slow but a car that I would trust to take to a tour around the world. The 220 model came with an electronic fuel pump (Lucas, which are problematic) but this one is swapped with a mechanical from a Vito 2.3. I shared many memories with my father in there and the value it has for can not be mattered by any currency. My goal for this car is to make a full restoration and do an engine swap to an om605 turbo and make it a 400hp car. This is an excellent car
Yes i remember with happy memories. My dad had one of those cars when i was a child and one of my first cars was the model with sport interior. Nice carbon fibre look and white background on the speedometer. It was black and looking good until the rust took it!
I have a 2000 c230 w-202 240k 22 years old and runs amazing and so cheap to maintain thinking of doing a complete restoration and keeping it forever.. had many other cars that have come and gone and no where near the quality of this one. Had 2007 BMW 325i and 750 completely garbage..98 camry was decent but not comparable, Hyundai GX and a few others not even worth mentioning lol
Same lads I got one building. Unfortunately I love topgear but for whatever reason they put up the base model rather than a 280 or amg model even a 230 kompressor would of been a great review to watch
Take it to a specialist ,i restored the rusted parts on mine in my garage in just a couple of weeks ,a proffesional shoud do in in under 2 weeks and cost around 100-200 euros if you want a really good job
@@no-damn-alias Romania baby, now for real it depends a lot ,on mine i worked it almost half way only took it to the specialist to paint ,assemble and perfect all i did
@@ioanpuiu6519 well obviously you can't compare the total cost then. Labour is cheaper in Romania and probably less road salt too. Fixing rust is mainly labour intensif. So here they'll go to the junkyard.
500 GBP might be too cheap I think, better-maintained models cost no less than one thousand. However, no matter whether it is five or ten hundreds, this car is underpriced.
I have my w116 for about 10 years and feels and run great! One friend of mine is trying to make me change for one of these w202...I need to think about it.
1996 C230 Kompressor here with Sport trim and manual. I have electrical issues (not firing up) due to bio wiring harness repairing and poor maintenance from previous owners (i’m the third one). I think is the alarm system or something like that. Is being reviewed.
I think someone had a job lot going to a TAXI firm and they let him borrow one! Mine has a/c, metallic paint, cruise control, speed limiter control, tinted electric widows all round, rear headrests, traction control, alloy wheels, wood trim, nippy smooth 16valve engine and seamless five speed auto transmission, love it.
Less to break. We have a new family car that is constantly in the garage, plagued by electric problems. I drive a '78 American truck, and it never breaks because there's no fancy electrical stuff to go wrong. Love the simplicity of older cars so much, we've sold the new car and bought a '95 c180 auto. Only options were electric windows and central locking. Both of which are broken 🤣
Rear end really is very ugly. Luckily there's the estate version, which eliminates this unsightliness. And that's what I quite happily own. And it has power windows. :)
Chad Yaknow it evolves from the tank-ish fair and square shape in the 80s to this slightly curvy but still definitely mercedes shape, i like it, it gives the german sober feel . The rear end though, is just plain ugly.

w202 C230K with amg kit, looks better than most cars in 2021
what body kit did u get? just the stock amg? also did u leave the original seats
This has to be the base most plain model c class I’ve ever seen. My w202 is beautiful compared to this car.
Agreed
Same here
This is exactly how I have mine 💀🤣
Clarkson's taunt humor hasn't changed in years.

Exactly, and being a benz means great spare part distribution everywhere and at a reasonable price too!
My c230k sport sedan still runs great after 24 years of rough driving, 360.000KM on the clock :)
That rear end is one of the best Benz rear ends. It set the path for the future generations sporting red and white triangle shaped tail lights and it looked just right.

Nothing bad to say about that car i think, hold on to it, it will only go up in price...

The W202 is a very good Car. with some minor Extras added it is worth the Money

I agree that W202 heralds the start of the Mercedes dip. But it will outperform the 210 as a modern classic. Prices are beginning to rise.

why did he travel from 1970 to 1997 to make this ?
