I just bought a 1996 C220 sedan with 125k miles. Absolutely no rust at all and it runs perfect. I only paid $1,700. All it needs it brakes and I already ordered brake pads.
Got one W202 CDI for almost 11 years. Boughted with 77k km and now have almost 300k km Really tough car. Only two problems , the front brake callipers no more produced they make noise from vibration, and the injectors they are to expensive and very difficult to find new ones.
I have w202 1999 cdti with 230k miles good car still runs ok but now developed a misfire I changed injector seal one although it helped and runs better it still shakes a little and sounds like it is still misfiring.... All fees back welcome
4000€?? Where you from? I mean this video made 3 years ago but in north-east europe, baltic this car is cheap, in Estonia highest price for w202 is 1500€. AMG W202 costs 5000€
The car was for sale for 1250 euro's and I am from the Netherlands, North-Europe. Too bad rust got the best of it, otherwise I would have bought it. The engine still had much more miles in it.
EEPRODUCTIONSKLB Hi & thanks for the video - I find it hard to believe that the chassis was completely rusted through on that gold S202 200 CDI - yes some surface rust in places possible very possibly but a condemned chassis ?? Looked a decent car obviously I didn’t look underneath but neither did you in the video anyway - if it was soo bad could you not have shown this in the video ? Best Regards, From Dublin Ireland 👍
From my understanding the Winter setting puts the Transmission into a higher gear ratio to allow for more/better traction (kind of like starting out in second gear instead of first on a standard trans) on a slppery surface such as snow and ice. If some one has a better idea I would be intersted in know. Thx@@Adam-lb4yq
Or maybe a combination of the two, it started with the idea of cutting productions costs at Mercedes in the late 90's and early 2000's. Safe to say this had a terrible on their reputation. After 2005 things got better again.

Does w202 get rust? I thought they were protected better 🤔🤔
Andres Marra yes, they rust horribly, especially after facelift (mopf)
sadly yes
We have 1 which is facelift and no rust even a point
had 2 of these. first one 840.000 km, second one 400.000 km. the engines were still good, but i do not have the cars anymore because they rusted away
I almost bought the car from this video, but the chassis was fully rusted... To bad since the engine only had 130.000 KM on it.

injectors you mean?
Yes that's exactly what I meant, thanks for noticing.
@@EEPRODUCTIONSKLB You make good review on cars. Thank you.
What's that W S switch next to the shifter?
Standard operation
Winter operation
@@EEPRODUCTIONSKLB ok, but what does it do?

THE RUST ISSUE WAS CAUSED BY INFERIOR QUALITY STEEL, NOT PAINT
