no rust problems when used in countries without snow (no salt at streets). I have a '99 e430 guard (factory armored) for the last 6 years with no issues (at all), just preventive maintenance. Its a very, very, very reliable car and still works perfectly for daily drive.
benz merc - I have bubbling rear door driver 98 E300 Germany built is from water leeks - your damage at battery area being caused by the Mercedes battery requires prevent maint to stop from occurring
I just bought a 2000 e320 wagon for $650 because the old lady was moving out of state. Mint condition no rust but it has 223,000 miles but it rides like a new car! My first European car but I love it!
Great review, great car. I have owned a 97 E420 Sport for over ten years. It was my first Mercedes and a real treat with 89,000 miles out of a friends estate. A twenty year old car with the original exhaust system! That is quality. I now have 140,000 miles. The bottom of the car on a lift looks like a two year old Chevy. There was / is some minor rust on the drivers door and around the trunk lock. This was caused by the early use of water based paints. I touch up those spots every couple of years. Repairs : I first had to replace the rear window regulator - which was a simple repair. I have replaced the spark plugs several times along with annual oil changes. A couple of coil packs and post Cat O2s sensors were necessary the first months as the car smelled like it was running rich and had a lumpy idle. Since then it has been smooth and returns 23mpg on trips. Last year at 120,000 the radiator and air conditioner compressor had to be replaced. Then the front springs broke, All this was fixed by my INDY along with motor mounts for about two grand. About the same price as Toyota maintenance, a lot more satisfying. Still have this beauty as my daily driver, with my "new" 2004 SL500 for the weekends. I highly recommend the whole Mercedes Used car experience. PS - Both my cars were "Mercedes Certified Pre owned" that were sold when their warranties were expired. The owners took full advantage of their warranties and left me with few issues. Dirt Cheap for what you are getting.
Nice ... I won a 1997 E420 in a pool game. Long story short, guy was into me for $1500 and didn't have it, so I took his car. Not a spot of rust anywhere, only a few tiny dimples and scratches here and there. Beautiful 18" chrome wheels, perfect interior, 124,500 miles on her. Had to replace the serpentine belt and a few front end parts, tie rod ends, wheel bearings, shocks, thermostat, and a set of new tires. I'm 60, and I've owned maybe 30 cars including a top of the line Oldsmobile (Toronado Trofeo) and 2 Cadillac Sedan Davilles. This is by far the finest vehicle I have ever owned. The ride, the performance and the styling are just superb. Hard to believe it's 20 years old. I wouldn't take $5 Grand for it.
Bad engine mounts are common too. Climate control buttons break. Rear control arm bushings wear out, they make a polyurethane replacement. Most things are a diy repair, the chassis is a total tank.
Was so happy to finally get this review, I have a W210 addiction. Have a '02 E320 4matic sedan, and a '99 E320 4matic wagon pre facelift version. Love them both, want a E55 amg to round out the fleet.
Nice to see this review. I own a 2002 E320 base model with 244,000 miles on it. I put over 200 thousand miles of those miles on it in the last 10 years. The car is the smoothest nicest riding car I have ever had. Also super reliable. Original water pump, power steering pump suspension etc. The only major parts I had to replace were the Air Conditioning compressor at about 190k and recently the transmission with a Mercedes factory rebuilt unit. That was expensive but I decided to keep the car rather then sell it.
Greetings from Bulgaria , W210 E320 CDI I have the car already 13 years . Total 850 000km half of them made by me . Car came from Italy and there was not a single rusty spot , later with the time it appears but I am repairing immediately . I bought lots of cars during the years but I still keeping my w210 . It is a favorite car for me. Cars in the garage W140 350 TD , W123 200D , W221 s500 4matic . I love all of them and if the times are good and it will be possible to maintain them properly I will never never sell them.
I'm LUCKY!! I got a E320 from a good friend of mine, it's original owner was his mother-in-law, garage kept 184,000 miles. 100% RUST FREE!!!! Serviced by MB only. I paid $1,500.00 in 2016, so I believe that was a fair deal. Even full service on tranny, including internal module and pin connector. Of all the cars I've owned in my life, so far this W210 is by far the best automobile I have ever owned!!!!!!
Me too Mark. My E320 has 145K on it, and it runs perfect. However, this week my instrument cluster has lost a few lights, so I'm attempting to remove it and replace its bulbs. Hopefully its not to difficult.
I've got one of those, rust was an issue, but a little TLC and it's looking as new. My advise for rust check, make sure you look at these spots before buying one. Front wings (remove the wings to treat, if you can) Front wheel arch rust (Behind the wheel by the front of the engine) Rear wheel arch (you may have to remove rear bumper) Boot, by the spear wheel housing it has known rust problem coming from behind the bumper. Remove Side Skirts, front and back of chassis has rust issue, and under the car where the jack position is. Treat all those areas and the reste is easy basic maintenance. This car is a work horse, just point it in the right direction...
My father has a 1999 E200 in pristine condition. The car looks like it is 2 years old. Interior and engine both like new. 356.000km on it. I am thinking of getting it and maintain it forever. I think these older merc run forever if you service and maintain them properly.
I have a 2001 270 CDI WAGON Diesel 5 cylinder, only a few little rust points probably because I live in Italy. My car has reached 465000 km without Serious problems and still goes very well!
I bought a '99 E320 wagon 6 years ago with 98,000 miles and a full service history. I paid way over the odds for it (about 8500.00), immediately took it to my mechanic, had the conductor plate changed out. I am so glad I bought that car. Smooth, roomy, comfortable, and imposing as only a Benz can be. Absolutely zero rust! No running issues, and only the sunroof has given me any real problems. My heart lay with Citroen, but I'm keeping my W210.
I have a 1996 model E320 Avantgarde in Australia and it doesn't have a single spot of rust.... It has been a good car. It is the inline 6 version. Smooth to drive but if you do put the pedal to the metal, it takes off like a rocket! 246K on it and it still goes strong.
Mine is 17 years old and it is almost rust free. If you take good care of the car it will last a long time. Mine has ~650 000 km on the clock and still going strong
320 CDI and almost 200k km. Runs buttery smooth so far. Current (but known) issues: failure of hood-fasteners (left won't lock - right won't open). Also, if anyone bought theirs with a worn auto-gearbox, change oil every 30'000 km and refill it often. Before you go for a long travel, maintain the gearbox or make sure to not load your car too heavily. You can also just make sporadic pauses to cool down your gearbox
I drive the E 280 4matic T/2003) since 15 years and for more than 400.000 km now. Rust is a little problem, yes, but this car has a amazing 6 cylinder engine and everything works still perfect. Technically one of the best cars!
I got a 1999 E320 127K miles. When I lived in Southern California, it looks new. Aslo has the original dealer. window sticker from 1999. San Diego Mercedes-Benz. I paid $3,800, 8 months ago. It has the valet key as well. Price in 1999 new was $48k
And to think i bought a 1998 midnight blue E300 TD W210 rust free undercoated as well for $950 bucks only thing i needed was tires and glow plugs now i am just fixing simple things and getting ready to make it fast and repaint it
in my opinion when you are making review for this type of car, it would be good to quote also the amg versions and wich one is the best of course ;) anyway, thumps up
I've had 3 W210, a '99 220 CDI Elegance, a '02 220 CDI Avantgarde and my last one that I currently own, a 98 290TD Elegance with ONLY 58000 km. It is in an amazing shape with a manual gearbox. I've paid way too much for it (9000 euros) but I'm planning to keep it and see if the price of this car increases over time. I know it's almost impossible to find one like I have. Of course it's 100% rust free and perfectly maintained. I love w210. They are the perfect junction between the older Mercedes and the most recent ! The 5 cylinder 290 TD is absolutely amazing. It's very smooth and it only consumes on average 5.2l/100 km, giving a range of around 1350 km with a full tank. Amazing. If you have that engine, replace the three engine holders and it won't be noisy at all. I also own a '06 W211 220 CDI Elegance and it's an amazing car too. But my heart will always lean in favor of the w210...
I bought my 3rd (over the years) W210...Facelift model E200 automatic in Elegance trim fully loaded (leather electric seats with memory, electrically adjustable steering wheel, etc etc) in silver ....it has 244k kms and drives exceptionally well....for 2k euros it is a steal....much less than a used base model Hyundai
bought a 2001 e320, absolutely love that thing. so smooth on the highway and takes corners just as well. entirely rust free, about 120k miles. only thing ive had to replace was the alternator, other than that its been so reliable
I have a 2002 E320 4matic and I love mine too.. Its must be a common issue because I have had to replace mine too but I mean after almost 20 years electrical and certain mechanical stuff is gonna fail in any vehicle its inevitable with age.. But I've never had any transmission or engine issues. I bought it at like 137,000 in 2016 now it has like 153,000.
It's 2023. Rust free W210's are (sadly) all over the self serve junkyards near me. Parts are cheap. I paid about $25 each for PSE, shifter assembly (bad module), window regulator, door mirror, and a leather seat cover. Front rotors and pads were $60.
1998 E300TD Estate here, love it but worth mentioning the air in the fuel line problems of this model. Also worth mentioning is the horrendous wheel bolts that if they seize, will snap because they are a stupid design, swap them out.
I have got one bought in 1997 new with the 300TD engine full extras plus AMG body, 53400 KM a marvellous car was bought for my late wife still in perfect condition, will never get rid of the car, special metallic Green paint at the time I paid 63000 German Marks a bullit proof car.except for the tyres everything still original.
My 98 E320 is rust free and an awesome car that is well maintained, with no rust.Note that rust seldom an issue in Australia/Australian models. Little bits and pieces to keep them going, replacement radio/cd good looking great affordable classic car an alternative to a classic Japanese car or Volkswagen.
When I bought my 1999 E320 I had no idea they had rust issues. Mine has ZERO rust!!!! I guess I got the 1 on earth that is RUST FREE!! It was a good friend of mine's mother-in-laws that the family had to take off the road. Garage kept with 180,000 miles. It's the best daily driver I have ever had. Paid $1,500.00 cash for it. Seems to be a OK deal so far.
Just got my 2001 e320 129,000 from my uncle who took excellent care of it . Drives like a dream . Rear window broke within a month of only using it a few times also the passenger seat cannot be moved but these are minor issues . She's like a first class cabin on rails when she gets going .
MrHerberttarlek I have both exact same issues... Rear window I'm told is a easy fix, they de-seat from the rails.... Please let me know if you fixed the seat and what you did?
I would like to buy a W210 and make put in a LPG installation, which engine do you recommend? Also, automatic transmissions are reliable on this car? Please help me with an answer guys.
I own a 1998 E300TD om606 with 1.580.000km, still rides like new, pulls like crazy, you can spin the wheels from 30 to 90kmh in second gear, love the car and there is no way im selling it, BEST AND MOST TUNABLE ENGINE OM606. Buy it you wont regret it.
arafathcoolguy if you change the oil of the auto ir shifts good Most of the e270 were automatic buf if you were lucky you could find a manual witch is a very good choise
Had 270 diesel, wanted to totally renew it, but when i took it up, I drove it straight to junkyard. Engine is good, tranny good, 5l 100km, rust was problem. After I bought in 2016 w210 2001 E55 AMG, best I ever had, same issues as other w210, nothing different, but mine is rust free, had only 45K km on clock, and this car is zinked, it has 2 triangles facing each other from factory impressed on chassis and can be seen by opening the doors. If you have this indicator on whatever car, its fully zinked so rust will not be an issue
Ato Nympha dont get me wrong thats just my opinion I've driven one of those and they are fast and econimical as well Its 5 cilynder and i asume it went out of production on the w204 c class and the w212 e class due to the emision because there came the 250 cdi But for me it one of the best diesesl engines Overall these e class and the w202 c class rust is their major issue because i tell you they are made to last 100 years 😂😂😂😂
Finding a rust free model was a pain for me while searching for a Clean W208 and a W210 as well ,However once I found and bought one example of each with kind of rare motorizations ,no rust and low mileage there are no bad things I can say about them ,they start at the first key ,the engines are running very smoothly ,gearboxes are working very well, the interior is in very good shape ,all electronics work ,I've seen cars 15 younger that are in a lot worse shape mechanically and body wise.
@@Malik-lu8ev Congratulations ,that's a good overall engine option (especially in terms of reliability) ,just make sure to change the oil and oil filter after you buy it and inspect it underneath, under the hood and so on as with any other car.
Yes salt is the biggest problem. Mine has been driven for 650 000 km in finland where the roads are very salty and i have very little rust on my car. U just need to take good care of the car
My suspension leaked so I unplugged it it rides stiff and only about an inch or so shorter I do have the problem with the sun roof sometime not wanting to close also the car is smart the cat was clogged so it shut the 3 cylinders off from firing on that side so back pressure won't warm it although I just punched the cats out and reset it with a code reader other than that I love the car it has 368,760 miles on it 3.2 v6 and no work done to it ever since I got it. those r all I fixed other than oil changes and simple stuff ... very strong car
Taking a look at a secondhand 1997 E230 model this coming weekend, and so far it seems like it's going to be a massive upgrade from my current rust bucket. Judging by the images online, there doesn't see to be any rust issues with the car I'm looking at, but I'll definitely keep an eye out for it! (thinking of getting the paint job touched up considering it's a bit faded) Thanks for this video. I know basically nothing about cars so it's helpful to have some info like this before potentially buying one.
I agree get a 2000-2002 e320 it's an amazing daily driver it has many more updated features and they are cheap . Service it do trans fluid service every 60k miles oil every 5-6 it will last forever.
Very nice review... I have a 98 w210 e200 Avant-Garde MT 5 speed, it runs only 53 K until now ... it is in very good condition no rust at all, fully original interiror and exterior the color blue on blue fashion version i guess... it is true once i have problem with power windows regulator... but the rest the car is very reliable, comfort, and very good quality of paint... btw i live in Jakarta the capital city of Indonesia I intend to upgrade my w210 to w211 e200k, do you have any suggestiom for me? Or should i still keep my w210? I love w211 model
If you can get your hands on a w211 post facelift then thats fine!(make sure you avoid the m272 v6 petrols. horrible reliability). Otherwise avoid the prefacelift w211s like the plague. w210s were much more reliable than early w211s.
Sad rust. In a moment of insanity I bought one. After 2 months my then 51 Plate was more spotty than old Saxo's. My ownership lasted less than 60 days of shame.Funnily, my W203 isn't rotting yet, 56 plate....
Nice review man!!! I want to by a w210 E200 kompressor sw automátic year1998👌😍😍 but covid19 rectricion don't lat me go close the deal😕 I hope he doesn't sale to other person😁. Thanks for the video have a good information 🙏🏽👌😎
Hi man, great video! I was thinking of bying a Saab 9-5 06. Could you please do a rewiew of that car? If so, do from 1998-2010. Greetings from Sweden :)
3.2 diesel in this generation its not v6 engine...and the best engine choice is om606 in them cars i would recommend it over later common rail engines as om606 got unlimited tuning potential...just my few words haha
Sorry but you missed out on so many mechanical issues. Ball joints just wear out on these. Wheel bearings need regular adjustment. SPRING PORCHES will fail sooner or later. This e-class just EATS lightbulbs like nothing and the front ones are a pain to change. You forgot the transmission control module which usually has oil inside which you should get rid of. Moreover the 5 speed automatic has an issue with a bearing until the facelift model. Just to name the most expensive. Not to forget broken key fobs and vacuum leaks. On the V6 and V8 petrol engines from 1997 on, the water pump leaks regularly.
i live in southern california so i just tune out any of the parts about rust. As long as the car didnt live next to the beach theyre all rust free around here
Looking to get a E280 4MATIC V6 M112 and do a complete respray (wanted to go with maybach blue from that era). Turns out i found one that was resprayed before by a trusted person in a paintshop. They are dirt cheap bc my country has insane tax when the car is over 2L of displacement
My in-laws have a 1999 w210 e320 cdi estate sitting on their drive decaying away. Given the rust issues and the fact it's sat for 2 years do you think it's worth taking on as a project car? I'm debating it, it's a top spec car with AMG wheels and the engine has only done around 100,000 MLS which is not much for a big old barge like this. What does everyone reckon?
Well you do need to change all the fluids, drain the fuel and clean the gas tank. Some rubber parts may need replacing and mold may have developed, so it all comes down to the engine, transmission and electrics that work or don't.
I 'own an e1997 MZ D. None turbo 182.200 Miles on it. I'm Second owner California car No Rust Start every day get 29-35 M/G Very dependable car .I'll also own a 1987 Mz 300 DTurbo with 5sp standard Trans getting 40+ M/G on Highway .Trouble free car No computer on this model s over 355.000 miles on OD and no engine oil consumption at 5000 miles oil changes intervals .This older model not is comfortable as the newer 1997 D .Mbenz . BZ has upgraded, but also adad a lots of electronics computers and have some small issues with the check engine lights being comes on here and then .However with my own Code reader I'can do most of my own work on this car is well .So really it's not an issue. Both Diesel engines are bullet proof on the bottom ends However the older version D engine is head sensitive if getting overheated. Personally I'love both Benz's Very please with both cars.I'll noticed some post are bashing the Bz .However being an owner for thirty years of my first BZ .I'll would not own any other car .
Starting to get rust on mine, have had issues with the back right window regulator, the sunroof has always been janky, and the volume control for my radio is really bad.
I bought an E290 1998 without any rust problems (Valencia, Spain). It rust super smooth but I’ll have to do something about the rear suspension. Does anybody have a recommendation?
I have problem with my idealing it too high some are asking me to change my main pump to manual but I love the electronic pump and I will like to put the ideal lower I need your advice how to do that please help me
My son has a 98 E430 that is rust free for the most part. 1 small rust spot the size of a dime on the lower front fender. It’s been in the salt belt it’s entire life, so o don’t know how it managed that. 165k mi. Even though it’s a Benz it’s still a nice car!
Want to buy Mercedes Elegance e220 CDI from 2002,i need a good car for daily driving and sometimes for long traveling. Can someone tell me something about this version
i had one of these never had any problems with rust if you are lazy and never wash your car it will rust i washed mine twice a week and it never rusted mine was a e320 petrol in black had 140000 miles on it nice quiet powerful engine loved it traded it in for a 3 series bmw biggest mistake of my life
I found out that Malaysian versions of these don't seem to rust as badly as these. Not sure is it because that Malaysian models made CKD have different paint formulas
sooo we had a e220 cdi estate from 2002 and it was one of the best cars we ever had until now. we had it 7 years now and it never had any problems just some regular things but a while ago we lost very much diesel and we wondered what it could be so we opened the hood and took of the plastic cover and what we saw was diesel EVERYWHERE we saw that it came out of the first injector so we changed it instantly. after we changed it it still lost diesel. but since it was our only car that time we needed to went on driving. some days after we changed the injector something went wrong with the car. it highspeed was 80 to 90 kmph and we instantly brought it to the mercedes dealer and he also didnt know what to do he deleted the problems with the computer and it still didnt have power. normally everything worked, the turbo the injectors and so on so we didnt know what to do with it and we left it in our garage until we know whats going on with the car and its still there and we bought a provisionally car, a vw golf 4 1.9 tdi estate since it it pretty cheap and reliable maybe someone of you guys know what we can do. thanks :) PS: it doesnt have ANY rust and the other condition is pretty good and its a 5- speed automatic.

@@mohamedelyaouti2051 Hey can I ask you a few questions about a 2003 E320?
I have a 1996 E300 with 288,000 miles. No rust, rattles or squeaks. It’s my daily driver and I love the car.
Rear window regulator is a weakness.
Greetings from Bulgaria ,
W210 E320 CDI I have the car already 13 years .
Me too. I bought an e320 a few weeks ago for 1500 also.
I've got one of those, rust was an issue, but a little TLC and it's looking as new.
My advise for rust check, make sure you look at these spots before buying one.
Front wings (remove the wings to treat, if you can)
Front wheel arch rust (Behind the wheel by the front of the engine)
Rear wheel arch (you may have to remove rear bumper)
Boot, by the spear wheel housing it has known rust problem coming from behind the bumper.
Mine is almost 19 years old and its rust free. Scottsdale, Arizona is very dry.
Mine is 17 years old and it is almost rust free. If you take good care of the car it will last a long time. Mine has ~650 000 km on the clock and still going strong
It wont survive in Vermont
@@ililiililliliill9498 mine is 209,000 miles 97

Arizona Sky do you have a 320 or 430 E Class? What year?
my grandfather has a pre facelift E280 Elegance with absolutely no rust. Garage kept it's whole life and still going strong at 250 000km
I just got one and it’s in limp mode so I gotta get it out. Super clean and excellent shape. 500$ couldn’t pass it up
Changed gear shifter (180$) took me 10 mins to do it. Car is good now
Nice deal
@@teoyamahar1639 how's the car now?happy with it?
I drive the E 280 4matic T/2003) since 15 years and for more than 400.000 km now. Rust is a little problem, yes, but this car has a amazing 6 cylinder engine and everything works still perfect. Technically one of the best cars!
I got a 1999 E320 127K miles. When I lived in Southern California, it looks new. Aslo has the original dealer. window sticker from 1999. San Diego Mercedes-Benz. I paid $3,800, 8 months ago. It has the valet key as well. Price in 1999 new was $48k
And to think i bought a 1998 midnight blue E300 TD W210 rust free undercoated as well for $950 bucks only thing i needed was tires and glow plugs now i am just fixing simple things and getting ready to make it fast and repaint it
in my opinion when you are making review for this type of car, it would be good to quote also the amg versions and wich one is the best of course ;) anyway, thumps up
I will do separate videos about the AMG versions
i have owned a e320 and an e430 sport .. the really big thing that i had with those 2 cars was the valve cover gasket
I have got one bought in 1997 new with the 300TD engine full extras plus AMG body, 53400 KM a marvellous car was bought for my late wife still in perfect condition, will never get rid of the car, special metallic Green paint at the time I paid 63000 German Marks a bullit proof car.except for the tyres everything still original.
thank you for this content. I watched it for what may be relevant to 1st generation CLK w208 (98).
I got lucky my Grandma gave me hers for my first car and man oh man I love that thing ... It's also mint by some miracle
Same here. 1 small rust spot. I’ve seen others on the road here in Chicago that are rust buckets.
where is this e240
I own a 97 with 250K miles. Zero rust. Runs like new.
Hey, very informative video, but can I know which of the petrol engines are the most reliable?
Just got my 2001 e320 129,000 from my uncle who took excellent care of it . Drives like a dream . Rear window broke within a month of only using it a few times also the passenger seat cannot be moved but these are minor issues . She's like a first class cabin on rails when she gets going .
MrHerberttarlek I have both exact same issues... Rear window I'm told is a easy fix, they de-seat from the rails....
Please let me know if you fixed the seat and what you did?
Love my 1998 E430 Elegance V8. Beautiful to drive. Drives well on highways here in Australia.
I never clicked away from pornhub so fast. I've been waiting for this Review for so long thank you!!

I have the w210 2.4 V6 with LPG. No problems at all. And gearbox is very strong!
I have recently bought a 96 E280 with the inline 6 on lpg. Needs some maintenance but the engine runs really great.

The engine on this e class is buletpruf
The rust its the only real problem
In my opinion the e270 diesel is the best
ok
how about the transmission >>?? mine was broke all the time problem
arafathcoolguy if you change the oil of the auto ir shifts good
Most of the e270 were automatic buf if you were lucky you could find a manual witch is a very good choise
Gerald #96 we don't have e270 here ,we have e300. Why is the e270 the best?
Ato Nympha dont get me wrong thats just my opinion
I've driven one of those and they are fast and econimical as well
Its 5 cilynder and i asume it went out of production on the w204 c class and the w212 e class due to the emision because there came the 250 cdi
But for me it one of the best diesesl engines
Overall these e class and the w202 c class rust is their major issue because i tell you they are made to last 100 years 😂😂😂😂
My 2000 E320 was rust free. Got it for 1,200 with only 138k miles on the engine.
I am going to buy rust free E230 for 2000€ next week
@@Malik-lu8ev Congratulations ,that's a good overall engine option (especially in terms of reliability) ,just make sure to change the oil and oil filter after you buy it and inspect it underneath, under the hood and so on as with any other car.
There's plenty of these in Australia, petrol mainly.... Never seen rust in them, seems to be where there is salt used on the roads maybe?
Yes salt is the biggest problem. Mine has been driven for 650 000 km in finland where the roads are very salty and i have very little rust on my car. U just need to take good care of the car
Rusty W210s are common here, well because salt of course.

My silver '02 E320 wagon is named Klaus and he's a tank!!
(thinking of getting the paint job touched up considering it's a bit faded)
Thanks for this video. I know basically nothing about cars so it's helpful to have some info like this before potentially buying one.

I intend to upgrade my w210 to w211 e200k, do you have any suggestiom for me? Or should i still keep my w210? I love w211 model
the C200k W211 is a good choice, but I would recommend to avoid the early production cars which can have more problems
If you can get your hands on a w211 post facelift then thats fine!(make sure you avoid the m272 v6 petrols. horrible reliability). Otherwise avoid the prefacelift w211s like the plague. w210s were much more reliable than early w211s.

Some rubber parts may need replacing and mold may have developed, so it all comes down to the engine, transmission and electrics that work or don't.

sooo
we had a e220 cdi estate from 2002 and it was one of the best cars we ever had until now.
we had it 7 years now and it never had any problems just some regular things but a while ago we lost very much diesel and we wondered what it could be so we opened the hood and took of the plastic cover and what we saw was diesel EVERYWHERE we saw that it came out of the first injector so we changed it instantly.
after we changed it it still lost diesel.
but since it was our only car that time we needed to went on driving.
some days after we changed the injector something went wrong with the car.
it highspeed was 80 to 90 kmph and we instantly brought it to the mercedes dealer and he also didnt know what to do he deleted the problems with the computer and it still didnt have power.
normally everything worked, the turbo the injectors and so on so we didnt know what to do with it and we left it in our garage until we know whats going on with the car and its still there and we bought a provisionally car, a vw golf 4 1.9 tdi estate since it it pretty cheap and reliable maybe someone of you guys know what we can do.
thanks :)
PS: it doesnt have ANY rust and the other condition is pretty good and its a 5- speed automatic.
Where do you live bonenverkaufer?
I better change the autobox oil then, as its done 83k, Cheers for the info.
