sugar tax has shown numerous benefits for the health of children by drastically reducing obesity and pre-diabetis. who wouldve imagined that companies would rather quite literally directly poison children than pay a tad more for sugar.
@saphiamertens um, anyone who pays attention. Corporations always think money first and foremost, and will literally judge the cost of change vs the cost of a lawsuit, and if the lawsuit is cheaper, they'll do nothing. It's why dangerous vehicles aren't always recalled.

@@alm5992 remember the weird shrimp tail 🍤 they found in that box of cereal? That was sorta gross, and what if you had an allergy and like...... what was a shrimp doing in that warehouse???
Wait a second... Vapes contain LOADS of glycerol! If there's a gene that causes glycerol to become toxic, is there a chance that anyone of any age potentially possessing such a gene who heavily vapes could start experiencing some degree of hypoglycaemia and dehydration similar to what the boys had, albeit considerably milder? I know it may seem a bit farfetched, but people haven't been actively inhaling heated glycerol for all that long, so I wonder if enough could potentially be absorbed to cause a level of intoxication...? Maybe the coffee machine knows...
I gonna venture a guess that very very few children, at least those who weren’t undiagnosed diabetics, had such severe reactions to full sugar drinks not containing glycerol. It’s rather ironic that attempting to save children from sugar effectively poisoned them.
I had a giant sized Jolly Rancher slushy years ago. I had them a couple of times before, but this time i just felt sick and stayed in bed falling asleep for the rest of the day.
As an adult (well, ISH, I was technically 17), I had a similar but milder reaction to glycerol. I'm an insulin-dependant diabetic and the glycerol sent me into severe hypoglycemic shock. I couldn't stop trembling, was sweating PROFUSELY and my blood sugar dropped so low I couldn't get off the floor. Like, I could not even elevate my head. This was made especially bad as since slushies have a LOT of sugar (or glucose/fructose) in them, I had taken insulin before drinking it.
I used to drink 7/11 slushies and icees all the time when I was little. I never got sick from them though. Either I was older than 4 when I started drinking them or the regulated amount is different in Canada.
Wow! I kept my kid from slushies to avoid the high fructose corn syrup. We make our own slushies, at home. I didn't know about that other thing. Glad to stay away from it.
I got glycerol poisoning from a slushy a few days ago, the slushy syrup didn’t even have a warning for it containing that chemical, luckily its being recalled
I don’t know where you got your info from but Warwickshire and Glasgow aren’t 3 miles away. It’s good the boys were both ok and this is disgusting that hey can put these things into items designed for children.
I wonder if that's what happened to me when I was a kid and had a watermelon slushie one summer. It gave me a huge headache and I felt like I was going to throw up for what felt like forever. I wasn't as young as the kids who were the subject of this video, but it was so bad that I haven't wanted a slushie since.

Good news: the brand Snappy uses Glycol which has a different structure than glycerol. I wanted to be sure because I sell snow cones in my shop and the syrups are essentially the same.
I remember getting very sick to my stomach from multiple slushies when I was 10, but… it really was a *lot* of them. I had 5 small slushies and always assumed I was just sick because of the excessive sugar. It’s possible because I have no idea what exactly Icee brand slushies contained circa 2006.

If anyone is wondering, some companies in the past put diethylene glycol in Apple Juice. For those who don't know, that's a chemical found in anti-freeze.
A very similar incident happened at the end of last month in Scotland, I read about it on the BBC News site just the other day, a 2 year old girl suffered the same effects, from the same drinks, this is happening all too often it seems sadly...

Yet Glycerol a derivative of it, is used in the COVID 💉 !!!
And this is why we need to further test limit the chemicals in drinks.

THANK YOU!
sugar tax has shown numerous benefits for the health of children by drastically reducing obesity and pre-diabetis.
who wouldve imagined that companies would rather quite literally directly poison children than pay a tad more for sugar.
@saphiamertens um, anyone who pays attention. Corporations always think money first and foremost, and will literally judge the cost of change vs the cost of a lawsuit, and if the lawsuit is cheaper, they'll do nothing. It's why dangerous vehicles aren't always recalled.

Yeah so thats pretty messed up man...
I also read that Lunchables contains LEAD. The legally allowed amount of lead in food stuffs or whatever. I think the legally allowed amount should be ZERO LEAD.
They lately found excess levels of lead in a bunch of cinnamon brands as well. It even got into the products such as apple sauce and juice. Ridiculous world we live in.

I imagine personal experience would tell you no, if you do vape a ton.
Vaping is already dangerous for many respiratory reasons, so...
This is awful. These poor babies and their families….
I gonna venture a guess that very very few children, at least those who weren’t undiagnosed diabetics, had such severe reactions to full sugar drinks not containing glycerol. It’s rather ironic that attempting to save children from sugar effectively poisoned them.
Manufactures.. did the thing to avoid the extra cost.... yep. again and again. shareholder primacy is a blight on society.
Did you miss the part where the government forced it by introducing a tax?
No sugar tax, and this likely wouldn't have been a problem

No wonder why my parents never let me buy anything. Too bad for my health. Thank you so much mom for saving my life!
I had a giant sized Jolly Rancher slushy years ago. I had them a couple of times before, but this time i just felt sick and stayed in bed falling asleep for the rest of the day.
It's probably just because of the sugar in them

As an adult (well, ISH, I was technically 17), I had a similar but milder reaction to glycerol. I'm an insulin-dependant diabetic and the glycerol sent me into severe hypoglycemic shock. I couldn't stop trembling, was sweating PROFUSELY and my blood sugar dropped so low I couldn't get off the floor. Like, I could not even elevate my head.
This was made especially bad as since slushies have a LOT of sugar (or glucose/fructose) in them, I had taken insulin before drinking it.

I wasn't as young as the kids who were the subject of this video, but it was so bad that I haven't wanted a slushie since.

Why is the common reaction to "too much sugar is bad for you" always to replace sugar with something much worse?
True. Sugar is often better to use actually. Just eat less.

09:50 Hyper-glycemia is HIGH blood sugar. Low blood sugar is HYPO-glycemia. Do not mix the two up, it can easily prove fatal especially in a diabetic.
