Nice catch! Rare to hear a LRU with the old Premier Hazard siren, most LRUs now have a Haztec. Also, just in case you decide to visit Hong Kong again, the new (but hideous) yellow ambulances are now in service and being trialled across stations. Latest I heard one was at Ngau Tau Kok and another at Tai Po when they were introduced a month back.
Andison Thank you! Ah I didn't realize this was an older siren, interesting. I will definitely visit Hong Kong again, possibly as early as this summer. That is good to know, thanks. However I agree that the new yellow ambulances do not look good. I personally love the current HKFSD ambulances, and their livery. The new design and color scheme (and lack of real lighting improvements) really bothers me, as it doesn't fit in with the HKFSD scheme at all. Oh well things change... Would still be happy to film one in action one day and judge it up close :P
mlps93 Hmm sort of...The rapid response motorcycles still combine yellow and red (but not blue), as well as Battenburg patterns, so I'd say they fit in better than the new ambulance design. I don't have anything against yellow as the base color per se, but orange instead of blue would have worked much better, and red and orange/ neon Bettenburgs would have been cooler too (plus would be in line with European standards as well).
captured911 Thank you sir! I also like their retro light-bars :P However I feel like the rotators should be on the outside and the strobes on the inside, that would be more effective.
mlps93 Thank you sir! Haha yea it was a quick decision to go in the middle of the road as I didn't think I'd be in the way of any traffic. I'd say it was well worth the angle 😆🙌🏼
000 Responses Thanks! Get your Hong Kong trip organized man ;D Light rescue units are not hard to catch at all, they're usually the busiest units at any fire station as they go on all rescue calls, traffic accidents, elevator rescues, and lots of medicals...
Sascha MM Sadly the majority of drivers in Hong Kong (and most of Asia) will not really make an effort to move over for emergency vehicles. This is an issue with many factors. In Hong Kong emergency services follow the British response system, and so will rarely pressure drivers to go through a red light. The situation seen in this video with all the buses waiting together doesn't make it easy to give way, however if everyone had moved as much as possible to the sides of the road (especially the taxi) there may have been room in the middle... As I always say, it really comes down to education and awareness!
This generation LRU (checkered yellow/red stripe on the side ) was the first to use the haztec sirens, looks like it broke and they replaced it with a premier hazard instead lol
Hey there! Nice videos, any idea on how the numbering system (if any) for each station/different types of units? Many Fire Departments have those player-created Wiki-pages, but HKFSD does not seem to have one easily accessible
As far as I know there is no numbering system for the fire stations in Hong Kong. They go by the station names (like Cheung Sha Wan, Wan Chai, Mong Kok etc.) and the corresponding stations will also be indicated on the vehicles themselves with removable plates. The vehicle or unit numbers will be the license plate, which starts with an F for fire trucks and A for ambulances/ medical vehicles.
@@TGGGlobalEmergencyResponses Gotcha, thats good to know. I have noticed those station names at the side of the vehicle as well. The license plates don't seem to have any naming/numbering conventions. Thanks for the info!
000 Responses That's because the ambulance depot at this fire station faces the other street, so you kind of have to choose whether you want to film ambulances, and risk missing the fire trucks, or only film fire trucks and don't get a good angle on the (many) ambulance responses... But I've got lots and lots more HKFSD ambulance videos coming up ;P
Illian Santiago Fire appliances are almost always on Yelp, ambulances almost always on Wail, police mix the two. Only on some ocassions will you see Fire using Wail, Ambulance using Yelp, and consider yourself lucky if you catch anyone responding on Piercer.
No, they have a variety of tones to choose from, but fire mostly stays on yelp (not sure why). They do use the bullhorn to get through traffic though. Sweet video Timur! Love the light rescue, its a nice rig.
Canadian Emergency Buff Thank you Michael! I like them too, a very unique fire truck in Asia!
Aha brilliant, I like how you zoomed out as the LRU pulled out to include the entire station in the shot.
Fire Phoenix Emergency Videos 火鳳凰特殊車輛影視 Thank you Jimbo!! :D

fwiw
the new ambulances matches the yellow rapid response motorcycles which have been in service since 2009 :P

Nice one!
Pretty daring, standing in the middle of the road ;)
But gotta get that angle :P

Nice catches! Would love to catch Units like this...

TGG - Global Emergency Responses WOW! Hopefully I manage to catch one:)
The bus drivers absolutely don't care about emergency vehicles? Incredible....

mlps93 Haha wow, that could have been the reason. 😂

And yeah, shame the ambo was so far away!

Variooo😀😀
Odessa Rescue Yep, unique in Hong Kong ;) Thanks!
Hong kong only uses yelp?

000 Responses It is on the 'yelp' tone, the siren itself is a British model, but I'm not sure what it is called.
