My son is taking stick fighting here in North Carolina USA. It has built his confidence. He was shy after coming to the US from the Philippines, and the training keeps him in touch with his culture. I have posted videos of his training.

We think one of the great benefits of Martial arts is about to give us confidence in life. We think was a good decision for him.

He mixed it with his boxing and karate. Different from other grandmasters. This is a ligit martial art.

Any arnis style from doce pares eskrima, to kali and balintawak are all deadly weapon but for them all, the best is docepares and eskrido, I have a grandmaster who was cornered by 5 holdapers all with knife weapon and he killed them all in 20 seconds, by disarming one knife from on of the holdaper and then uses arnis technique to kill them. The police jailed him for 6 months but only because he killed them and it was a self defense. But I don't like people showing this off and using this for bad intention, you should only used this martial art as self defense or when your life is at stake or someone dear to you or important or even an individual that needs help aside from that it should be concealed.

@@mrchelnacs2896 nah, its true. Arnis technique is the most lethal martial art there is. You basically develop a skill to kill a human being in an instant.

Beautiful video! I've been binge watching your videos since I found out about your channel, just today. I must say, I've been smiling stupidly and my chest feels heavy while watching them. I am reminded of why I have fallen in love with Martial Arts in general - Budo.

Indeed, mastery of the balintawak arnis builds self-confidence, particularly when dealing with different types of adversaries (an educated fighter or a thug in the street). Fighting close range needs timing, so practicing this style with an opponent is a must. Once you develop the true concept of this art and timing, facing an attacker with bladed weapons would not be difficult, especially when your life or other's is at stake.

Yes, classes and drills deliberately train speed and reflexes. Stick speed is very fast and your hands become fast as they 'catch up' to stick speed. The correct biomechanics give power and efficiency, the rest is putting in the time. The objective is for the body to basically fight by itself without thinking, it is closer to military CQC than a demonstration art.

his fellow GM, Nene Gaabucayan was I think an Okinawan Karate champion in cagayan de oro as well. Me personally, Im not a champion of some sort. But, I have friends who incorporate balintawak to their craft. I got friends from BJJ, Tae Kwon Do, Shotokan Karate, and krav maga. GM Bobby is a very humble person.
