I always respect people who are able to be humble even though they have a lot of talent in whatever they do. Guro Bobby is one of those people.

My senior Balintawak master is the training and demo partner of GM Bobby - Dr. Ben Marapao. He is in his 80's now. One time, both of them forgot the sequence of their demo, they just decided to do random striking and defending. It was so intense that it looked like it was a real fight due to the randomness of their demonstration. They were scolded by GM Teofilo Velez afterwards because he thought the 2 were doing demonstration with anger. This was told to me by Dr. Marapao and 2 of his sons who all teach me along with my other KGB-MAGGS Balintawak brothers.

I don’t know the Balontawak system-my Fma Background comes from Pananandata with Master Marinas and Kali Illustrisimo from BakabakannInternatiobal under the guidance of Master Rey Galang and Master Topher Ricketts1bit I’m old enough and been around long enough to recognize a True Master not just of the arts but of life and general when I see one-and Master Bobby Taboada is definitely a Master in the truest sense of the word-in ability, in knowledge, and in his humility, and devotion to his masters and his students-even if he isn’t comfortable with that title.
