I have much respect for Hsing I (Xing Yi) style as my MA teacher was a master of this. You cant see the real power in these techniques unless you feel them in person done by a high level practitioner. IMO this style is REAL self defense, not meant for squaring off and prolonged fighting, but for REAL self defense this is among the best that exists. But it also involves "internal" training - again not seen in this video. My huge thanks to this lineage and for the upload.
To the untrained eye, they can't see it and very true about sometimes needing to feel it even though they would lightly only strike with 10-20% of what could be delivered. I tried receiving a stabbing elbow with a coaches strike vest on, that was like 5 inches thick with shock absorbing gel & padding & still got driven hard and felt a little winded & shocked that it still penetrated through all that! Damn!
@@shinobidaimyo5135 It hasn’t used by soldiers, but yes, it’s an old style. Heavily influenced other martial arts of the region like Shaolin, Taijiquan, Baguazhang.
Note that his power comes from his stability in posture. He does not bend his torso at any time and risk disturbing his central equilibrium. He is a pillar moving around and his stability is more optimized than his opponent, and he can sense it via touch and vision and effortlessly exploit the weak spots.
This master has skills, but the only problem is that this is not a real fight. Did he ever fight that MMA guy? I want to see how his skills translate for a real fight, not just training.
I'm a hsing-i guy til I die, so I had to rewatch this on account of this comment ;) and while theres definitely shuai jiao, it was set up with moves that are driven with 5 element Hsing-i forces. I see a metal kick, an earth throw, and thats just 3 seconds in. I havent even started with the animal sets yet.
Shuai Jiao exists in all these arts. The techniques of Taiji, Xingyi and Bagua were all configured around Shuai Jiao. Chin na is also in there. The purpose of the forms is to hide all of that goodness within them, so the teacher can decipher them. But most teachers do not know this and those who do impart the knowledge to those who show worthiness. My teacher is a master of Shuai Jiao, Taiji, Xingyi and Bagua from Taiwan.
For 83 years old give the guy some credit! He moves like a cat with great reflexes, and the guy has an eagle eye! Give the guy some credit!!! You mms guys have no class! No respect for anything or anyone
You're aware these are identical in execution to Judo techniques, which is only degree of separation away from the BJJ that everyone seems to agree is sooooo efficient... I have a radar up for nonsense TMA as well but in this video I really just see straightforward self defense. Not unlike good krav maga.
@@ADFerrizzi hardly identical but some similarities- I’ve trained both xingyi and judo extensively. Takedowns like these ones require set up and leading footwork against a non compliant opponent
@@bengquan78 clearly that's true. Kuzushi is massively important. But why assume this guy can't do that? It just seems like we've all been trained to have a huge bias against CMA that does more than just border or racism. We aren't the only people who know how to throw a punch/use off balancing techniques/grapple/etc. I have trained in both of those arts too and while there is a lot left to be desired in most Xingyi demonstrations, that doesn't mean that very serious practitioners (who probably don't spend much time posting on any social media we would see or competing in any sport fights we have access to, if they desire competition at all) don't exist. And this guy just looks like one of those very serious practitioners. I dunno. I buy this one. And I'm saying maybe you should too.
@@ADFerrizzi I have trained in Hebei, Shan'Xi, Henan and other places in China with Xingyi practitioners. There are of course some good ones who I have seen actually spar/fight for real, however the vast majority are very good at giving demonstrations but cannot apply technique in a less controlled environment. I suppose I am just jaded and I have seen much more applicable skills in other sports/arts.
The master just lift a whole person up so effortless. It looks like he doesn't even trying. Holy sh*t!
Years and years of training. To be like that you at least need to be training 6-8 hours per day, 4x per week, for 3-4 years straight.
I'm impressed how the guy in black effortlessly kept hopping back up after each demonstration.
hard floor
It's good to have young disciples, mostly cartilage 😂
He knows how to break fall. Watch his hands and listen. Elementary skill in traditional M.A.
Beautiful training! You can see the years of effort put in. Thank you for sharing.
Good to see this kind of thing still exists

According to some sources it's quite old and had been used by the Soldiers of the time from what I recollect.

Interesting observation🤔
WELL now that old guy actually looks like a highly skilled badass vs all the bullshido out there nice to see
This Xingyiquan master is very powerful.
Plainly demonstrating "seven stars" of contact.
Awesome
GOOD STUFF BUT...BIGGER OPPONENT PLEASE
some times it looks quickened.! But still much respect and very impressive !!!
Real kungfu
I noticed all his disciples are young there. Probably because he killed the middle aged and older ones😂 ( just kidding...kinda)
A lot of shuai jiao demonstrated.
HAO.. HO ...GETTEM BRUCE U KNO IT 😊
It's Xinyi Liuhe Quan not Xingyiquan

El mejor kunfu
當知道對方不會真正打你時,任何動作都是勁功夫。
This looks more like Hapkido.
👍🏻
hey old man give me your wallet -WHAM BANG POW!=hehe
Chin na
Chinese wrestling
Although good there’s more Shuai Jiao and chin na than xingyi

I truly admire your passion for xingyi and I hope you continue to refine and more importantly enjoy it for years to come

@@areitomusic I think that’s right and I appreciate your insight
Isnt this Mantis?
Xing Yi, Hsing I, and other spellings.
What do you think would happen if someone punched him hard in the nose?
Hey, man.
Give it a try.I'll be happy to video it and post online😂
By reading the subtitles, i suppose these are more like tai chi techniques
Internal connections are the same with Hsing-i, Baqua and Taichi, so the baseline language regarding them is the same.
More Shuai techniques.
not Xingyi
