    Also, did you catch how Toranaga refused to tell Saeki the strategy and kept trying to push it to another day. But when he surrendered he explicitly said "oh by the way we aren't going to do Crimson Sky". Was that code to his Saeki, because his men looked defeated? Either Saeki is in on Crimson Sky or Toranaga will use him to get into the castle and initiate Crimson Sky himself.

    In the scene with Toranaga and Gin, Gin says that: It is not smart to leave an army in the open because spys are everywhere, insinuating that Toranaga's army is secretly larger. He surely made more allies around Japan with leaders who disagrees with Ishido's machinations.

    We have seen in earlier episodes that his son is not in high regard by anyone, including his father. While certainly not a desired outcome, I doubt it will crush him. He has more offspring, or at least chance to have more (in reality Tokugawa hat several sons). Also, he was always to close to Omi and Yubo, two traitors. In fact, Toronaga knows there are traitors in his ranks who can spell any plan to his enemies. Furthermore, his army is decimated due to the earthquake. But how much? We never learn, we only hear words. What if Toronaga does not want to have a long siege of Osaka. He needs to get into the castle swiftly.
    I see two possible scenarios: He uses being "escorted" into the castle as a disguise to really attack once inside. Possibly with soldiers also attacking from the outside, to keep the defenders busy and confused. Or his brother is even in on the plan and supposed to "escort" him into the castle and then strike together. The attack of his son is unfortunate, but cannot be helped, but at least makes the ruse even more convincing. Ishidos spies will tell him that Torunaga surrendered and called of crimson sky. But what if this is crimson sky?

    • @Calinotch06
      @Calinotch06 2 месяца назад

      I do think he will feel sad about his son's death, but he will accept that his son was disobedient and made his own choices. I believe his plan will go something like how you described.

    Blackthorne's emotional outburst during the surrender ceremony was so outrageous I want to believe that it was an act choreographed by Toranaga as part of his plan. Maybe now that they all think he is crazy, Blackthorne can sneak onto his ship with some of Yabushige's trained men and defend Toranaga?

    from the very start it doesn't make too much sense, the plan to attack osaka castle, especially after his army is ruined by earthquake. the plan based on one thing, which is his half brother supports him, if his half brother is powerful enouogh to change everything, why would he even help him to become shogun? wouldn't it be better to be shogun himself? so i think in theory toranaga should have seen this senario play out in his head, there is no way he is gambling based on hope that his powerful half brother help make him shogun. why dont stay with the orginal plan? sit here, wait for enemy to come to him, then use the cannons on a battlefield they pick to destroy the larger enemy.
    it is not the first time toranaga planned something without telling anyway, remember escape from osaka castle? no one knew.
    what if the whole thing is just a drama, so his half brother with the army will bring toranaga and his army to "surrender" in osaka, then as they reach the castle, they attack and execute the plan?
    what about toranaga's spy? he showed up one time in this ep, i doubt that he is toranaga spy only in this village, maybe he has a bigger role to play?
    maybe toranaga instructed the angin to pretend to get angry and leave and since ppl dont speak english so will just let him leave and he has a secret mission?
    i think there are many possibilities but i think it is very hard for me to accept that toranaga has no plan B, after his life experience of being around powerful people and in war.
    and i was annoyed how his son didn't stabbed the half brother, i mean he just fucked a women and you have a katana and you can't win against him? why all the pointless talk just stab him ...

      Yeah , (the Osaka campaign) depends on how much the show wants to follow the historic accuracy and I presume the novel content. I understand the real conflict on which all this is based was resolved with a battle on open field and not the castle, some years later the Osaka castle was also on siege as a later part of same conflict. However it can be posible they rearrange this to be solved in Osaka as there Blackthorne may have a more active role if they really want to grant him and active part and he attacks from sea, however they aren't ruining it for me so far, as even knowing some about the history the plot Is being built with feasible intrigue and military actions. Best thing is that if you are not spoiled with the novel or the 80's show you still may think on different plots to resolve the history from here; Crimson sky maybe includes the evil brother to be part of the plan to reach Osaka without being intercepted and the son's death is now a colateral damage but also will convince the regents that the brothers are enemies.On the other hand his sons death may cause a switch on Toranagas decision to be conducted to Osaka or the next episode may just simply start with the continuation of the skirmish between the brothers forces.
