    A huge part of that sound seems to be coming from the snapback delay.

      No. Most early chicken pickers like James Burton did not use slap. That’s just a little icing on the cake. Has nothing to do with the technique

      @JasonLoughlinMusic ok, to clarify: it sounds like you are muting twice when you are only muting once before popping the string, correct? That adds quite a bit, imo. Cheers!

    Not only did you teach me chicken pickin, but you convinced me to grow my hair out. We got the same hair and damn it looks good. Mines a little less gray, but damn son.

    A good compressor really helps with this stuff

      I never recommend them or use them… you should be able to get an even controlled sound with your fingers.
