  • It is known that the first radio broadcast of Frank Sinatra was with “The Hoboken Four” (aka “Frank Sinatra and the 3 Flashes”) in 1935 on the ''Major Bowes’ Amateur Hour'', an American radio talent show created by Edward Bowes, who presented and interviewed the contenders participating in the various episodes of the show. The Group, formed by Frank Sinatra, Jimmy Petrozelli, Patty Principe and Fred Tamburro, appeared, as ''The Hoboken Four'', on two September 8, 1935 recorded episodes of the radio program, singing the song ''Shine'', a 1910 song by Lew Brown - Cecil Mack (lyricists) and Ford Dabney (composer), in one episode singing and performing a tap dance and in the other with an edited performance of ''Shine'' and without performing a tap dance and so there are two versions of the song ''Shine'' by ''The Hoboken Four''.
The version with tap dance can be also heard on the first of the 4 CD ''Frank Sinatra: A Voice on Air: 1935-1955'', while the edited version without tap dance listening to the recording of the other episode of the program recorded on 9-8-1935, fully issued on the companion CD (Dialogue CD) to Nancy Sinatra's book ''Frank Sinatra: An American Legend''.
Here is the edited version without tap dance extracted from the last CD mentioned above:
''Shine'' (Lew Brown - Cecil Mack - Ford Dabney) - v. Hoboken Four (edited version and without tap dance, extracted from the corresponding 9 - 8 - 1935 recorded episode of the radio program ''Major Bowes’ Amateur Hour''), downloaded by me from ''Ozsons.jp - Hoboken Four'' at ozsons.jp/Hobo... .
