I see where the outline 1 and 2 are at in the editor...I'm clear on what outline 3 and 4 are used for though? When I capture text with outline 3 for example all it does is change into a different format. I guess I need to see what outline 3 and 4 are used for within final draft. Is there a place to find that on their website or under tools, support , etc?

I've been using FD12 and I love it so far. Specifically the outline feature, but I love the speech tool to listen to my script outline. How can I turn the speech off for outline only? So it won't speak my outline out loud and only the script? I've tried looking it up elsewhere, ut can't seem to find a solution.

Hi to Final Draft and all who have written comments on here. I am new to Final Draft, used other screen writing software before. As a German having studied in the UK I think I understand what is explained here. What I do not understand and what my question is (and I am well aware that it might be a stupid one) : Why do I need this function AT ALL when writing a script? My background is: I haven't missed anything up until know when writing. I will also produce my movie for the first time and know I will be grateful for the reports Final draft provides. Can anybody give a brief statement what the benefit/added value is here - and the benefits for a director and/or producer (I will also hold these tasks) - Thanks in advance for taking the time!
It may be late and I'm not an expert neither, but I think the outline is for the writers only, like your side notes. Instead of having them outside of the app you have them directly in the script and you can just hide them fast instead of having to clean everything one by one. Let's say you have a general idea of the script you want to write so you write the outline and how you want the screenplay to go like: 1. Meet the MC 2. Crisis 3. Run .... I think it's someting like that

I wonder if you HIDE OUTLINE ... if that would turn off the speak outline part of the script?
Does outline impact on the script pages count? If I set myself a 90 page target will the outline be part of this?
