Something I learned from this movie: the reason he was able to play so well with them without practicing is that jazz was traditionally mostly improvisational. I find that extremely beautiful. Thank you for another great reaction
I had a massive cathartic experience when I first watched this film. As a guy in my early 20s I felt so much pressure on me to find my purpose, to make sure I was on the right course, constantly second guessing myself and losing sight of actually appreciating life... This film showed me that it's okay to not truly know what you're "meant" do do here. Do what makes you happy, what brings joy and adventure to your life. I seriously broke down crying when it ended, I felt like a weight was lifted off of... well... my soul. Your reactions are absolutely lovely, you seem so sweet and you really pick up on these films with all your emotions.
I had a very similar experience, in my 20s too, after watching it easily became one of my favourite Pixar movies, such a beautiful story and message. 🥲
Our purpose is to live A “spark” is simply the desire to live. You can have your dreams, you can have your passions… but don’t confuse your passions with your purpose. That’s my interpretation anyway
It's reminding people to enjoy their lives. Life is not only what you're chasing for; it's what you finally know how to enjoy every moment in your life, even the bad, good, happy, or sad things. These experiences are unique and have made our lives the best they can be. Everyone is waiting for their "Big moment", but they always ignore their small but important moments.
It took me a long time of reflecting to get this film... to a degree. Life isn't about having a purpose or a destiny, but simply finding something to give *meaning* to your life. Something worth living *with* not *for*.
The quote from Dorothea about the fish at 24:30 is a perfect encapsulation of this movies message! To appreciate what you have and find the happiness that you think the future will bring in the present. Loved watching your reaction Maureen!
One of my most all time favorite Pixar Movie especially as an adult. It somehow reflected the philosophy of life and really learned a lot from it. Emotional at some point towards reality and realizes something towards my recent and future life in general.
Oh my god, the therapy cat literally became a therapy cat. That is so genius! 24:20 this line is really interesting, but it's silly that they mentioned this. Jazz is extremely versatile in what it amounts to. Not only is every night different, but seasons bring change. I remember a beautiful gig during autumn where we played a jazz version of the headless horseman...it was something else! We have 4 seasons, music changes throughout these elaborate moments. Often, you can get a gig at a theatrical play, a VFW band, a nonprofit, pay by hour professional, world famous. Anything changes, with the seasons or the acts. One day you are playing basic charts, the next it's a colonial chantey or mozart composition.
You complimented the acting and corrected yourself to say animation but you’re right! It’s amazing acting. A lot of times the animators animating a scene will also be the actors for the characters they’re animating and film themselves as a reference!
It was so nice to watch this movie with you! You really appreciated all the little moments and the music as well, how important they were to the characters and the story. I love this movie so much, I’m glad to see people enjoying it and understanding the message of it. I’m glad it connected with you so much too. I like to think that Joe and 22 get to meet up again in the future.
It’s so well written and just beautiful: Joe found his spark again when meeting 22. Through the whole movie he was 22’s “mentor” but also mentor and he realised that was his spark. To be a mentor👌👏

The fact that the souls were numbered 742837642346237 and we met 22 means they have been there for a LONG WHILE.
