100% agree. I belive mirabel is supposed to be the new matriarch of the family. Think about, she's not really the only one without powers- her grandma doesn't have any either
I love when people realize that Abuela wasn't just trying to hold people up to impossible standards, but was driven by a deep subconscious fear that the safety and security they'd been gifted with would be snatched away all over again
There's a popular theory that the spirit of Casita is their Abuelo Pedro; the miracle candle became magical after he died, as if he was trying to still make sure his family was safe. Especially since the moment that happened, the very landscape itself changed so the invaders couldn't get to the town. The theory states that the spirit of Casita being Pedro is a big reason why it acts so playful yet responsible, like the stereotypical 'fun grandpa'. Alongside that is the unspoken truth that Mirabel is meant to be the next Abuela, since Abuela herself doesn't have a gift. They're both focused on keeping the family together and happy, and Abuela is getting up in age. When she passes, Mirabel is going to be the next Keeper of the Candle, and once she starts getting old, another person without the usual 'gift' will be born to take her place.
i am a huge believer in this theory. especially bc of that one shot where when the house is cracking for the first time, it zooms in on pedro's picture with the cracks forming around it
This is when I love it when Disney is Original. They can make such wonderful stories we can relate to. I still love this movie and the tunes are still catchy and the message is something we all need to hear: We all matter.
I love this movie. Such a beautiful and poignant story about generational trauma. I love that there was no actual villain, just people who needed understanding and healing. Thank you for sharing your reaction!
and it needs to ALWAYS START FROM THE OLD ONES! but they're the hard to crack. the new generations tries to change that, but has no power because the old ones being a jerk. don't want to understand stuff
I think an interesting detail is that everyone’s room is connected to their power and nothing else. No one seems to have any other hobbies or interests except one person: Mirabel with her embroidery and sewing skills. Since Mirabel wasn’t assigned her one trait that abuela could focus on, she was allowed the freedom to cultivate her own interests outside of the miracle. The only other person to have a different interest: Bruno with his rat tv and superstitions.
I believe the gifts are related to what the family members could do best and most probably loved doing. We can see that through Antonio's gift, where we learn from Mirabel that he is "an animal guy", so he is given the gift of talking to animals - something he will embrace and have fun with. I believe it was the same with everyone else. We can see, that the gift is just totally great for Antonio, how Camilo still enjoys his, and he probably was a family joker as a kid. It seems Julieta loves both cooking and helping others and I imagine she loved to cook already as a kid, so it got enhanced. I imagine Isabela loved flowers, so her power was flowers related, we can see Isabela is strong even when her magic is gone so one can assume she liked to push herself early in her childhood. Bruno probably liked storytelling, thus his stories became more powerful and Dolores tried to know and hear everything so essentially her wish was just granted. Pepa could love enjoying being out in the beautiful weather so again, she was granted the ability to control just that. With all this, Mirabel's gift is the ability to sew the family back together, something that is tightly related to her handcraft skills. This however hasn't clearly been considered by abuela as something useful enough, or maybe abuela had some unconscious impact on how the skills could be turned into gifts but she had no idea how Mirabells skill could be enhanced. In a way a nursery is the right room for her, as this way she can connect with all the new family members and at the same time the entire house is her space so her actual door were front door, just no-one expected that. Note however, how in the "present" time Mirabel is the only one directly having a relationship with the house itself and that only two people actually communicate with the house at all - Mirabel and abuela.
The prevailing theory is that Mirabel's gift all along was to be the successor to Abuela. Mirabel and Abuela are the only ones who really speak directly to Casita (which people are also fairly sure is infused with Abuelo's soul) and directly interact with it. Her role is to take the family past the trauma that was the foundation of the Casita under Abuela and lead it into a new place of growth and love without all of the weight of expectations. And, heck, the two people who don't have these... extra-dimensional rooms like we see the other family members having are Abuela and Mirabel. The Casita is fundamentally their room, reinforced by the house being brought back to life with Mirabel's door as the front door of the house.
You may already be aware of this, but the sort of "thing" with musicals is that the singing and dancing represent periods of intense emotions, something they feel so passionately about that they can no longer just speak it. If the story were in real life they wouldn't necessarily be singing, it's just a way to show the audience how the character is feeling, so it doesn't particularly mean anything for their actual singing/songwriting abilities lol :)
That rainbow river actually exists in Colombia it's called Caño Cristales. Also the valley of Encanto, it's called Valle de Cocora. Great heartfelt reaction!
Lovely movie, and lovely reaction! The flashback to Abuela's backstory gets me every time. You have such a pleasant voice and personality. Can't wait to check out more from you. :)
No insult intended, but you remind me of my Grandmother who passed when I was a child. I never got to appreciate her personality and positive influence with an adult perspective, so It feels nice to watch movies with you. I wish she could see all the wonderful things going on in the world....
I always cry when you cry ! I really feel your heart through your reactions. Your videos are amazing, I hope your channel continues to grow. Best wishes & love to you and your family 💗
Excellent reaction! This film literally delivers on how the true magic wasn’t the gifts, but it was literally the love and the support that the family needed to embrace that was the true magic. 🕯🦋💛
Firstly, the way you talk is so soothing, I love it. You’re also the third reactor that said that her powers is singing and dancing which shows you guys really didn’t watch the trailer or anything, I trust the honesty haha! PS have you ever seen the show exhorts creek? The way you talk reminds me of the mother in the show, just less dramatic 🤣
Schitts Creek? My husband said from day one not to watch trailers or read anything about a movie beforehand. It has made some viewers get mad at me for mispronouncing names or not understanding events though. It really is tough getting everything on first viewing. We learn way more about a movie during editing than actually watching them. lol
@@ScreenMaureen sorry I didn’t re-read my comment so I didn’t realize it autocorrected Schitts Creek lol well I appreciate your insight to the movie and love your reactions so far :)
"Dos Oruguitas" is, I think, going to stand the test of time and become a classic piece of Disney music. It's such a gentle, tender melody and sung so well - I've deliberately avoided learning what the lyrics mean in my own language, because it would ruin the magic - it communicates everything it needs to, even if I don't fully understand.
I've always felt this movie was about the grief that comes with generational trauma. Abuela went through a terrible loss and through the miracle got a second chance. But as she said, she was too afraid to lose it and through that projected the fear of her grief and trauma on her children and grandchildren. It doesn't heal as fast as it does in the movie, but it all starts with a single moment of accepting there IS a trauma and then you can start working at it forwaards and backwards...
specifically the liberals vs conserbative armed conflict, and the madrigal is practically a displaced by violence family, theyre homeless, huge topic on colombia's history too, sadly.
If you liked this movie i recommend you to watch Hamilton (amazing muscial about america's history) or In the Heights (also muscial about neighbourhood of NYC) if im not wrong these were written by Lin Manuel Miranda.
My theory is that Maribel's door vanished because her actual door was the main door to the house in the end. That's why she was connected to casita.
That makes sense cause even tho the casita helped the whole family. It was more connected to her and seemed to kind of communicate more with her
100% agree. I belive mirabel is supposed to be the new matriarch of the family. Think about, she's not really the only one without powers- her grandma doesn't have any either
Yeah she was the successor to Abuela, they just didn't realize it and feared for the worst
I love when people realize that Abuela wasn't just trying to hold people up to impossible standards, but was driven by a deep subconscious fear that the safety and security they'd been gifted with would be snatched away all over again
I mean, I guess being a bitch is okay as long as you have trauma. Not buying it.
like a mom of political figure family
i mean it's literally like that. the family famous for the "leaders" of that village.

that river where abuela and Mirabel hug is really in Colombia and it really is pink and red. it's called Cano Cristales.
I love this movie. Such a beautiful and poignant story about generational trauma. I love that there was no actual villain, just people who needed understanding and healing. Thank you for sharing your reaction!

My husband said this comment blew his mind. lol He can't believe he never figured this out. (I don't think I knew either to be honest) Thank you!
@@ScreenMaureen Hahaha I know what you mean, that’s how I felt when I first learned it in my theater class 😂 Happy to help~
When they say "encanto" (which means "enchantment"), they're talking about the enchanted candle. The house is Casita. :)
7:57 When I first watched this movie, I thought she gained the gift to freeze time or something 😂
That rainbow river actually exists in Colombia it's called Caño Cristales. Also the valley of Encanto, it's called Valle de Cocora. Great heartfelt reaction!
Abella says the candle gave them.miracle 50 years ago..meaning Bruno, The mom and Pepe are in their 50s..
Lovely movie, and lovely reaction! The flashback to Abuela's backstory gets me every time. You have such a pleasant voice and personality. Can't wait to check out more from you. :)
"Am I fighting or hugging?" She was ready for either
😆
You are such a wonderful human being with a golden heart. It's really a delight to watch these movies together with you.
🤗
Mirabel inherited her Abuela's gift, not inherently magical, but the one to continue the Encanto when Abuela is gone :)
No insult intended, but you remind me of my Grandmother who passed when I was a child. I never got to appreciate her personality and positive influence with an adult perspective, so It feels nice to watch movies with you. I wish she could see all the wonderful things going on in the world....

Awww Thank you!! 🤗
You have such a beautiful energy, I'm subscribing
Thank you and welcome to the channel! 😊
Excellent reaction! This film literally delivers on how the true magic wasn’t the gifts, but it was literally the love and the support that the family needed to embrace that was the true magic. 🕯🦋💛
Maribel is so underrated. She spends the whole movie trying to save a miracle that she had no part of, when she had every reason to resent it.
I love your reactions! I just found you today!
Welcome to the channel! 🤗
I love this channel. Love whatching an emotionally intelligent genius react to movies. Your crying helps me cry, and i need that sometimes.

Camillo is indeed a shape shifter :)
Soul and Inside Out both are great movies with great messages too that i think you will like
She has already watched Inside Out! :)
Soul absolutely DESTROYED me.
They all get their powers are at age 5 :)
Encanto is the whole village (or even greater, the whole valley the village is in), casita is the house.
Amazing movie reaction tysm ❤️
What's Mirabel's gift? Taking over as the head of household after Abuela.
Please watch soul!! 🥰 it’s such a touching movie. I’m so excited for your reaction on that.
I would also like to see that. Soul is an amazing movie.
I second this
The story is so in every family. and im the burden one 😢
colombia has a pretty complex and intense history with violence, to say the least, abuelo pedro was most likely lost to it.
specifically the liberals vs conserbative armed conflict, and the madrigal is practically a displaced by violence family, theyre homeless, huge topic on colombia's history too, sadly.
Enchanto is a master work😍 I❤
Great reaction, i didnt enjoy this movie as much as others but great animation
Encanto it is a really Nice movie show in Disney Plus movies 🎥🍿🥤
❤❤❤❤
