What a great video! It was amazing to get out with you Dan and experience your enthusiasm and teachings in person. We absolutely enjoyed the natural beauty of the day, the great Dallasite collecting, but mainly your company. You are the reason we went onto youtube and we can't thank you enough for being our inspiration! Jack and Christa.
I'm from Victoria where Dallasite is from and after hounding for 15+ years I have never found a single specimen on the degree that are featured in this video. I find alot of tumble-able size dallasite on dallas road and some nicer sized ones from parksville but I've never found one that looks this amazing. Could I please get out with you? I don't do it for profit I just love dallasite and collecting it.
I have been a rock hound in my youth. Never had time as I got older. The gems you keep finding and sharing makes me wish I could go searching. I grew up in the Caribou and now I realize that many stones I found in the 50s were gems. My dad made jewelry from many I found. Thank you for sharing your finds and knowledge. The dallasite is beautiful. ❤
I love the breccia explanation and the expert with a Master's Degree for the GLOTD! Great question! What a stumper!!! Hope you found a lot to support your channel! We love you Dan! #HurdHerd
I loved the video Dan Hurd. It was amazing learning about dallasite and it being igneous, heck might be metamorphic. An excellent video with you, Jack and crystal.
What beautiful scenery, I have always loved brooks and streams ever since I was a kid. And I have to say I am a little bit jealous right now. But watching all of you have so much fun it's like being there with you. So thank you for the wonderful video. And God bless!
Don't forget Gordonite, it's spectacular. What could be better than rock hounding in a crystal clear river on a hot sunny day? The water is so clean even when you disturb the bottom, it still runs clear!! Gotta love Vancouver Island.
Where do I go to purchase a small piece. Hey Dan, I’m only interested in all stones that can be light or small enough for making jewelry. Some of the very small chards that don’t interest you could be put in a bundle and sold for making jewelry. I’ve mentioned this before but received no comment from you. Know ur a busy man! So just give it some thought, ask your fans , see if it’s profitable? Thanks for the videos!

Another beautiful stone from Canada Dan. I would love to see you do a series showing how you make jewelry from these beautiful rocks and gems you find.
I’m a geologist from Missouri living in Florida. I like the weather but I miss rocks so much, lol. I figured someone here would empathize lol. Going to the ozarks next week. I’m looking for agates and quartz crystals.
Great Video my friend, just can't get enough education and from You Dan I learn something new everytime You post a Video!!!! You Rock Dan (Pun Intended)!!!! Be Safe Dan!!!!!
Mother Nature is absolutely beautiful 😮 Mother Nature gives us the beauty of the world😂 and you go out and find it absolutely beautiful😮 I hope that you can share this with others😮 note to make money on it but you just give it to some people😮 so that you can share the beauty of Mother Nature❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I have an amazing small piece of dallasite from my Grandmother's collection from about 1970. I don't know where she got it as she was from Alberta and didn't travel much except to the interior of British Columbia. Which leaves me thinking that there could possibly be another source somewhere? I sure enjoy your videos, the scenery is awesome and the gems are cool! Without your videos I wouldn't have known what it was. Thank you!
I've never heard of dallasite that's a really pretty Rock. I don't comment often, but I wanted to let you know that I appreciate you taking us along this was an enjoyable episode.
I came across your channel because of Gold, but now you have got me hooked on geology grrr As if I don't have enough to learn... but I'm only 65 so I got time- as Homer would say.. DOH! Just don't get me started on refining... Oh crp Jason jus posted another Vid fro MT. BAKER MINING AND METALS
Awesome upload as always, Dan, everytime you mention "Jaspar",,,, my Best friend, support/assist dog,( Retired.) jumps up, alerted, because ~Jaspar thinks you have shouted for him ,Lol!! You are so lucky to live in such an abundantly beautiful Country!! And Im always learning something new everytime you upload a video!! Thank You!!
Dan, you need a backpack with a frame and some buckles so you can redistribute the weight off of your back and put it on your hips. That way you can carry more. 😉👍
Dan, the rock you found at about the 11:09 is so interesting! Just out of curiosity, what would you price that one at? Love your vids! Great treasure hunts! Thank you for bringing us on your adventures!!
I went to the island a couple months ago, and I'm pretty sure I found some dallasite. It wasn't a particularly spectacular specimen, but it was fun looking for it!
"I've gotten great rocks" is actually perfectly correct Dan, just so you know. It's much more commonly heard in the UK than in North America, where you are more likely to hear "I've got great rocks", which when used for the past tense is technically incorrect. Just wanted to point that out. :P I've never heard of Dallasite before - the more I watch your videos, the more I learn about just how many beautiful minerals there are on earth. It is truly stunning stuff. Also that water looks good enough to drink - I wish I had creeks like that close to where I live. You are so lucky out there in BC.
Beautiful stones. When you picked up the one at 16:32 the first thing that came to my mind (from the U.S.) is it looked Native American. Just the pattern and colors.
Into some great specimens Dan! No salting Dallisite Dan, it's a sure giveaway! Lol! 😂 Pretty material, not quite picturestone, more paisley 😵💫looking, surely marketable 🤑, but it's also not AU 😢..keep 'em rolling 💎🤠
Wish I had the big slab saw I used in College - 36 and 48" blades a big and a monster saw - blade running towards you so you want to stop and settle down before opening. Some of the monster stones there would be easy to cut.

Another great video -- thanks Dan, Jack & Christa -- and some really nice looking rocks too.
Great video Dan, we really liked Jack! Hope to see him again.
Dallasite is a variety of Jasper composed of colorless Quartzite, Green Epidote, Pumpellyite, and altered Basalt minerals.
It is also found in northern Washington State

There is a reason that the powers that be keep it so expensive to live here. ... sigh ...
So glad I found this channel. A true gem:)

12:23 i saw a bearded guy with a cap on the rock. Looks awesome!
You should get polarizing glasses. They should remove some of the gloss from water surface.

Love the garnets I bought from your shop!! Thank you for the quick delivery!!

The average price is 3.00 to around 40.00 per each ( small to palm size) the problem with the value is it's not precious and readily available!
@@averteddisasterbarely2339 Thank you for the information!
Hope your staying safe. Love your content
River hunting takes the fun out of licking the rocks lol
