Dan, having the opportunity to go out with you was amazing! We were able to see first-hand how creative you are in terms of teaching. You answer questions that haven't been asked yet in the moment - that is talent. You are enthusiastic, fun, and great to be out with. The rocks you cut turned out wonderful. Thank you so much! You were our inspiration to go on youtube!
In 1967, my family drove out to Vancouver Island on a cross-Canada summer holiday. Being a rockhound from early childhood, I wanted to look for rhodonite, and my parents indulged me. I remember Dad driving us up a narrow logging road, and we ended up at a remote fire-watch station. The ranger was so happy to see interested strangers that he showed us around, informed us that we were NOT at "Hill 60", but helped me find some samples of rhodonite, both bright pink, and a pretty sunny yellow colour! Thanks for the memories!
The slab that you mentioned looks like trees looks a bit to me like a harbor full of sailboats. Beautiful piece! And great video, thanks for bringing us along as always Dan--
Dan, you have some of the best outdoors videos... and your exuberance for your endeavors and your incredibly gracious and welcoming nature are solid gold!!! Nevermind the pun. Best on RUclips...👍👍👍
Nice, but very steep, hillside full of incredible rhodonite! A liked the ones with the darkest rust color. But, if I had the money to buy it, I would love to own the one with the "trees" as you called it. However, I think that one looks like a setting sun, shining down on a harbor full of boats with tall masts. That was the first thing I saw when I laid my eyes it. Thank you for sharing, Dan, with 2 nice friends! You are amazing and I learn a ton with your GLOTD. Blessings from Alabama ❤️
Dangerous, but rewarding. Prospecting for Rhodonite... The video is the best... Thanks for sharing... Always success... Greetings from a traditional miner from Indonesia.
My God Dan you and your friends and your videos are just so wonderful! The piece that you showed us and you were mentioning a sunset, oh my God I wanted to jump through the screen and snatch! I think that is one of the most amazing pieces of this amazing mineral. I will have to subscribe to that wonderful couples channel. As always thank you so much for sharing your adventures. Be Safe.❤
You're 100% correct when you said that one piece looks like a scene of a lake in an old old forest fire burn..reminds me a bit of a lake near Kamloops lol
Awesome Rhodonite... looks like ships on an ocean sunset. Awesome stone with the artistic manganese oxide shooting up delicate veins through a vanilla sky of colors lovely.
Dan, You're always surrounded with great characters, it's that prospectors beard! Lol! Beautiful stone, I'm also a lover of that deep pink, integrated with the black designs 🤯 would make lovely jewelry as is or incorporated with some gold nuggets Dan! 💎🤠
7:16 too nice how it reminds me on expditions back then, wish you a lot of luck! And yes, very beautiful rocks! 8:38 makes perfect sense. Really feels like on of the expeditions. I hope you work with researchers. Amazing locations on your channel.
13:58 that looks like a sunset painting I’ve done a few times. You can even see little pines sticking out of the hilltops on it. Very beautiful stuff, Dan. Very cool. 😎
Great to see you and the family at the Vancouver show!! and yes the items I picked up from you outstanding! Even my twin brother and his son are avid viewers of your you tube now! Until next time. Stay safe.
Dan, have collected some nice rhodonite fron the Sunnyside Mine dumps atEureka, CO. Great stuff. Looks great mounted in silver. Thanks for the great videos.
I love the pieces with the pink and orange. Almost looks like a sunset! I have a big chunk or rhodonite that my dad bought me at a local rock/mineral/lapidary store where I lived
Dan i will never get tired of your openings, you are such a beautiful person and so fun to watch. I am stuck in toronto for school and you give me the dose of BC that keeps me from getting too home sick. Thank you so much for you continuous posting! ❤❤❤❤❤
What beautiful specimens! I am so inspired to paint the landscapes I saw in those slices. Yes, bare trees and sunsets! I saw that before you said it. Nothing like confirmation. I like the deep pinks turning to orange, yellow and jasper-reds. I love the grays and the linear blacks. I already know how I’m going to paint it. Thanks for another great video from Vancouver Island!
About 8 years ago I obtained some amazing Rhodonite from a fellow in Coombs. I can't remember his name, he had a rock shop there with some unreal carved 'Junks' from China. Carved in BC Jade. He soon sold his store and I think he is now doing a fishing charter business. Around Lake Alice on the island is where he found the Rhodonite. I have a 2lb block from him that is almost pure pink.
hey Dan, been a little while since I dropped in. Congratulations on the 1 million subs!! nothing better than going on an adventure with someone who is passionate about what they love, also when it’s in search of treasure!
That one @ 1426 looks like a sunset with the trees in silhouette in the foreground, even got a pond just to the left reflecting the sky. In general I think the stuff looks sorta like under cooked meat. I had a piece that looked like a chunk of pastrami, which is funny because I had a butcher shop and displayed it on top of the display case. Pretty sure I've been to this location, don't worry your secret is safe.
The stone you showed with the orange color reminds me of the ocean rocks you show.. a couple of the orange one remind me of a dried reddish rock desert sean lol
Nice video, poor mushroom at 7:29. ...and ever-more. Maybe, you should try to replant those native mushrooms. ( sad to see them up-rooted and laying down in the heat ). Awesome stone though.
The pink gold is beautiful too. If you know where it is we're working diamond Creek which were all colors of diamond in Arthritis as well as all colors of gold blue-green purple. What color? 7:26
My Mom used to hike this mountain with her Dad and little brother back in the 1950’s. Her Dad knew where to go and find lots of Rhodonite. One trip she grabbed the wrong boulder and ended up rolling down the hill bruising her self up pretty badly, it was her last trip unfortunately.
Metamorphosis of sedimentary rock - Sound like Glory ! 🙂 slab out some and then diamond facet saw thin slabs. Can be nice for lady chain art ... The pink oxidizes ? or alters - can it be coated to prevent UV or broad spectrum wiping out color ? That might be worth finding.
Excellent collaboration! If the black cracks "trees" are made of manganese, then wouldn't it be correct to call them dendrites? Those slabs are phenomenal!
To New Hampshire alchemy- my understanding is a small amount of the oil used in the slabing will penetrate the rock and prevent oxidation, renewing the oil is not a bad idea -sometimes a little heat like what was generated at the saw cut needs to be applied for a deep burnished. You can burn the oil and anhydrous resin waxes into the surface - might have too much gloss as well but a lite frosting on some parts or even larger areas can be matted flat, semi-flat or eggshell, several other effects as well. Folks pay for the art and added art. MikeC

Hey Jack, I've a question. Can Rhodonite be a deeper red or purple? Just a question that popped into my head.
That peice at the end was epic looked like a blurry set of masts from old. Sailed war ships❤
Very nice of you guys to let Dan come out and film on your claim
Congratulations from Brazil, nest of agates.
⭐️⭐️⭐️Seeing the three of you collaborate together is perfect match‼️‼️‼️👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻👍🏻

It’s like pink picture stone !
Absolutely beautiful
I wanna go extract some of thst sooo badly!!! I LOVE the red skied sunset over the bay look!
I have some rhodonite I cut decades ago. Didn’t know Vancouver island had deposits. Very cool.
👍🏻👍🏻 i’m so glad that you got to collaborate with this couple‼️‼️‼️
i was living on the island almost fifty years. will keep watching as i am not now. central B.C. now. cant wait to see what else you get. thanks Dan.
❤Thank you!! Dan I learn so much from your thoughtfulness..Christy from Colville Washington, State...
When I initially scrolled past the thumbnail I thought it was an abstract painting of a harbor full of sailing ships.
Some of the slabs look like what in my mind I’ve pictured the landscape looking like during the great oxidation event. Wild stuff!
the favorite def looks like a picture😎👍
You make the best friends.
First cut example you show us looks like old sailing ships at harbour (see the masts) in a quiet bay come dusk. Nice!
Looks like a forest fire scene a bit of sun shining through.
The slab that you mentioned looks like trees looks a bit to me like a harbor full of sailboats. Beautiful piece! And great video, thanks for bringing us along as always Dan--
That's exactly what I saw on the specimen! A harbor full of boats, was the tall masts, with the setting sun.
That's what I saw in it too! It was just the most amazing one in the pile.
I agree, looked like an oil painting. Just a beautiful specimen.
That's what I saw too - Awesome harbor scene at sunset on that slab 😊
Dan, you have some of the best outdoors videos... and your exuberance for your endeavors and your incredibly gracious and welcoming nature are solid gold!!! Nevermind the pun. Best on RUclips...👍👍👍
Looks like a marina full of sailboat masts at sunset...very cool
Thank you for sharing this with us six stars my friends
So, will the Rhodonite cuts continue to oxydize and lose their color? Or do you coat them with something after cutting them?
I was wondering the same.
I was wondering that also. What keeps it from turning black?
looks like Cowichan Lake...Hill 60, above Meade Creek.
My Rhodonite slab arrived in the mail today, and its astonishing!! thank you Mr. Hurd
The banded stuff looks like abstract landscapes by Lionel Feininger. So beautiful.
Nice treat midweek
What a perfect companion to your ocean picture stone! I can see your exhibit of both all over the world. Fun stone.
Some of those look like seeing the reflection of a sunset in a lake through the trees.
I love the ones with the veining , it looks like a painting ❤

Thank you for sharing, Dan, with 2 nice friends! You are amazing and I learn a ton with your GLOTD. Blessings from Alabama ❤️
The rock at 14:22 looks like an old road map! That would make a great thin framed piece!
Dangerous, but rewarding. Prospecting for Rhodonite... The video is the best... Thanks for sharing... Always success... Greetings from a traditional miner from Indonesia.
I have a rhodonite pyramid and it has an image of you looking down into Rolling Hills from on top of a mountain.
Wow! So pretty. Those banded pieces are amazing!
My God Dan you and your friends and your videos are just so wonderful! The piece that you showed us and you were mentioning a sunset, oh my God I wanted to jump through the screen and snatch! You're 100% correct when you said that one piece looks like a scene of a lake in an old old forest fire burn..reminds me a bit of a lake near Kamloops lol
Very cool, The one with the trees, reminds me of a Summer sunset over a lake in the interior.
Beautiful colors!!!!! Love your buddy system!
Awesome Rhodonite... looks like ships on an ocean sunset. Awesome stone with the artistic manganese oxide shooting up delicate veins through a vanilla sky of colors lovely.
I love the rocks and hills you locate thus are as colorful as a painting
Just beautiful. Would make stunning pendant.
Dan, You're always surrounded with great characters, it's that prospectors beard! Lol! Beautiful stone, I'm also a lover of that deep pink, integrated with the black designs 🤯 would make lovely jewelry as is or incorporated with some gold nuggets Dan! 💎🤠
Loved that dessert scene, was awesome. Wish I could afford to get that. Would look great with my collection.😊
That perfect one reminds me of fisherman’s boats pulled up on shore.
looks like im sitting on the dock of the bay watching the sunset.
It was a great pleasure meeting you in Kamloops yesterday sir, love your channel, awesome
7:16 too nice how it reminds me on expditions back then, wish you a lot of luck!
And yes, very beautiful rocks!
8:38 makes perfect sense. Really feels like on of the expeditions.
I hope you work with researchers. Amazing locations on your channel.
14:35 That one looks like it could be a painting of a sunset on a western, out in the desert
Gorgeous stuff! Almost as nice as the ocean picture stone!
Dan says; "I think that's my pink rock" lol
Quad bike tips and injuries are common, glad you were taking care, consider a roll cage.
They look like a bob ross painting 🖼️
Happy Wednesday ❤
Thanks for your geology lessons, Dan. Appreciated. And thanks for your joie de vie, too.
13:58 that looks like a sunset painting I’ve done a few times. You can even see little pines sticking out of the hilltops on it. Very beautiful stuff, Dan. Very cool. 😎

Dan, have collected some nice rhodonite fron the Sunnyside Mine dumps atEureka, CO. Great stuff. Looks great mounted in silver. Thanks for the great videos.

Been listening to the trees for days, they be speaking boy’o!
I love the pieces with the pink and orange. Almost looks like a sunset! I have a big chunk or rhodonite that my dad bought me at a local rock/mineral/lapidary store where I lived

how long will it last until it oxidizes again?

The stone you showed with the orange color reminds me of the ocean rocks you show.. a couple of the orange one remind me of a dried reddish rock desert sean lol
Nice variety of samples you got there... I like it when you mix it up, but still like the panning videos best.
Excellent video once again, thanks Dan.

G/Day Jack, Dan hes a powerhouse of knowledge he is a top bloke mate well done mate cheers mate from aussie
Nice video, poor mushroom at 7:29. ...and ever-more. Maybe, you should try to replant those native mushrooms. ( sad to see them up-rooted and laying down in the heat ). Awesome stone though.
Entertaining and informative--Thanks Dan
Pink and black are a classic Chanel color combo. Rhodonite would be great for fancy zipper pulls on $30,000 handbags.
Just BEAUTIFUL!!
14:20 You should call it “Old World Map Stone” because it resembles a hand-drawn cartographer’s map from the 1600s
Wow that's absolutely beautiful and i would love to have some of that for my husband he is a rock hound
Thank you Dan for sharing another awesome video
Another good video! Fun.
Beautiful stuff!
The pink gold is beautiful too. If you know where it is we're working diamond Creek which were all colors of diamond in Arthritis as well as all colors of gold blue-green purple. What color? 7:26
Rhodonite and Jade, the mainstay of jewellry that is sold to tourists at Canadian National Parks. Perhaps some Labradorite too.
How quickly will it oxidize? If we buy a piece how can we keep it from turning black?😮
Thats exactly what I was wondering
Metamorphosis of sedimentary rock - Sound like Glory ! 🙂 slab out some and then diamond facet saw thin slabs. Can be nice for lady chain art ... The pink oxidizes ? or alters - can it be coated to prevent UV or broad spectrum wiping out color ? That might be worth finding.
Sunset picture stone !!
Excellent collaboration!

The stuff with the veining looks like modern art.
How do you keep it from oxidizing after you slab it??
