When I was a younger man, I had dreams of doing a bus conversion. I'd do exactly two things different in my conversion. My bus would have been a MCI 102 (DLC3) with a Detroit 60 series and even though I abhor the usual mated Allison 6 speed transmission, I'd have both the engine and transmission tuned with the Jake brakes. I would have kept the factory air. But everything else is absolutely perfect! Those pristine storage/luggage bays are premium. Your kids have an amazing bus! I hope they enjoy it.
Pretty sure that is a Bill Hanni coach. He had one for.himself very very close to that same year in fact. The stripes were slightly different outside but the interior was same layout and very similar materials. I would bet that is one of his conversions that he worked on and he was big on end caps. He worked on some celebrity coaches as well. Pretty respected guy. He worked on Merle Haggard's bus.
Absolutely beautiful bus. It's definitely gonna be a nice one to live in for your daughter. I'd have no problem with the interior but most likely I'd still remodel it myself. Definitely needs some serious engine work that's for sure. Of course the Master Diesel mechanic BGM is gonna get it in top runnin' shape.
Nice bus Scott looking forward to seeing you and Tyler getting into that you’ll. have that. running like a Swiss watch in no time nice to see you back on the tube really miss you guys best wishes to you and your family
I am all for the 3 million dollar coaches if you are rich or crazy enough to spend that much money on one but I truly believe in my heart a beautifully done bus like this will bring as much and more enjoyment. It will get used more and you wont be crying when you are travelling thinking how much it cost.
Nice looking bus you have. Reminds me of the Madden Cruiser. That was a converted bus used by legendary Oakland Raiders football coach and NFL broadcaster John Madden. He used that bus being he does not fly.
So happy to hear you have embraced your latest grandchild. I would just make minor adjustments to the interior and start using it for it's intended purpose. It looks like some serious servicing is required. Luv the manner in which you omit the fact that it is rolling blue coal by saying " it struggles a bit coming up here " ! Nice score Scott but I am certain that the seller came looking for you since who else can give someone else's baby the TLC it so urgently deserves ! Cheers and count your blessings ! Really impressed by the paint scheme.
wow SOOOOO clean. amazing shape but then technically is a young bus. but soo clean in the bays. Its defiantly dates early 90s interior but.. still awesome bus!
Wow, that was quite a struggle coming up the hill. Love the color on that bus, blue is my favorite. Now that this is your daughter's bus, what will happen to the 4104 at the bottom of the hill? Wasn't that going to be her bus?
For anyone else who’s not so lucky as to call you Dad,this bus would be a no go . But then again this bus gets the Bus Grease Monkey seal of approval your daughter is gonna love this bus/coach And your an awesome Father . Congratulations on the bus purchase.
Very nice bus and looks functionally ready to occupy now....I see some conversion characteristics which closely resemble Custom Coach roots. Copper plumbing routed and clamped says quality work likely throughout by whomever!
That is a seriously nice bus, I'd sort out the engine and the paintwork and leave it as it is unless something is wrong with the interior, save money and enjoy it.
There are onlt two things I don't like. First is that front cap. I much prefer the stepped roofline of an MC 7. The other thing is the all white dash and drivers seat. It would be impossible to keep spotless. I'm like you however in that the drivers area and controls are pretty much stock. If I could afford a motorhome my order of preference would be a late MC7 or early 8, a late GM 4905, an MC 5, then a GM 4108* .Manual or automatic transmixers, as long as the automatics are factory installed. (* I never liked the domed dash of the 4107s. At least I think they were 07s when I drove them. I liked the rectangular dashes of the 08s and the 4905s.)
That's a nice conversion, I'm still looking. I found a 69 single axle, but don't know what the inside looks like, but he isn't asking much for it. Ultimately I want a mid 90s Prevost, but my current budget is calling for something a little cheaper. May sell our place first though, and then find one, but I sure do have the fever.
There are always deals out there. Used professional conversions are usually the best investments. Prevost liberty and marathon conversions of that 90’s time frame are usually great buys. Wanderlodge buses are also nice deals. Conversions like that get you everything for pennies on the dollar. If you convert one yourself you are paying dollar for dollar for every on the conversion side.
Thanks for the info, yeah, I am a new member on the website, those guys are really helping me to understand the differences. Would love to come visit your place some day, I am learning a lot from you. After watching the vids on your new place, we are thinking about doing something very similar, and we could live in the bus while it's being built, even be able to park it inside once the shop goes up. Don't know what the future holds right now, but I am definitely hooked on wanting a bus, have always loved the older ones, that 57 you bought has lots of potential, but like you said it can get expensive and in the end, you could have probably gotten a professionally built one for the same money, but the vintage buses have a charm all to themselves, the Prevost are huge though, and lots of storage as well, I did find a couple of older ones that were single axle 35 footers, cheaper on tires but not as much room, so I will probably look for a 40 footer when the time comes. Thanks for all that you do, love all of your videos.
Helped install 2- 8V92 Turbo charged in a new 55 foot Sportfisher in the late 80's,that boat screamed about 40 knots. Being in between those 2 screaming beauties out to Sea was a harmonically balanced acid trip lol,the singing back and forth told us of a job well done.
Wow what a beautiful bus! The kitchen was awesome! Plenty of storage and cabinets..all well thought out..drawers of a good size etc.. Like the light wood interior too.. I'm not a big fan of that new dark wood they are using now days. Guess I have not seen a video in a while but the new ending song is just soo great! Best wishes for you and your family from Tampa,Fl aka Satan's armpit..haha
I was thinking what that coach was saying as you crawled up the hill, I think I can, I think I can! 8V71 is a good motor, it's a lot better if it had a turbo....
I loved the Greyhound Super 7 Scenicruiser and the stepped roofline (I think the high-forehead roofline on this bus is ugly). I was disappointed when I boarded one and found Greyhound painted the "sunroof" where the roof stepped up (not sure if it was Greyhound or MCI that did that). All the ones I rode had a 4-speed manual transmission. Those headlights had to be upgraded as I recall MC7 and MC8 had round lights. Even cars didn't have rectangle headlights until 1977 at the earliest.
I’m not a fan of the caps either but at least this one has the roof raised inside so you get the height benefit. I would never put a cap on a bus. To me it’s like when you see a pretty lady but she’s had lip injections. All i can focus on are plumped up lips 👄… not even boobies and keep me from focusing on how dumb the lips look.
The last truck I had with an 8v71 really improved when it was outfitted with a turbocharger. It looks like you have the room for it, any thoughts of doing that?
Very neat unit for 1970 ,,, i,d call it pristine even with it minor paint issues with clear laq paint peel an be t water seperated paints from moisture around seam or rivet when paint took place, only pick was the dvd an tv in main bedroom ,,, looked sloppy esp dvd position
Well, that should knock down the mosquitos. If it were me, I'd leave the interior alone unless there was something that needed changing. Since you're not throwing parties in there, I'd for sure leave the bathroom alone, Better Homes is probably not going to grade you for that.
Nice looking coach. A little personalization and some mechanical work and it will be good to go. What's going to happen with the silver bus in the intro? Wasn't that for her and the family?
That 1970s bus looks brand new-wow!
Very SharpConversion ! I think the Overall Exterior Paint Job and Bright work gives this Rig a very Classic and Classy appearance
struggling is a good description!

That era MCI is my favorite!
Mine too.
the work done to the storage bays is always a plus to see them renovated and painted, instead of them being beaten and grotty.
Pretty sure that is a Bill Hanni coach. He had one for.himself very very close to that same year in fact. That bus is stunning.
The luggage compartments are so clean, they could each be the in-law or kid's suites!
What a beautiful bus.
Dude this is a winner, you’ll fix it up and be tapping out miles in no time. Look foreword to the tear down and further work.
Please let us hear that V8 roar when she's fixed ! Enjoy the bus its a beauty
Man, that is one beautiful bus. What great parents you guys are!
Nice bus Scott looking forward to seeing you and Tyler getting into that you’ll. have that. running like a Swiss watch in no time nice to see you back on the tube really miss you guys best wishes to you and your family
Really clean good looking bus!
Great find! She's a beaut! Happy living and travelling in that piece of history! Thanks for sharing, Scott! Be well, be safe!
What an iconic bus. Looking forward to seeing what you find wrong with it.
Love it, Love it, Love it! Bus was lucky to find you. Looks a lot like my Home !
ABSOLUTELY-----> OUTSTANDING!!!!. 🙂
She's a beauty! Paint shouldnt be too bad, hopefully that rust is light and local to the bubbles! Mechanicals will be easy enough for you!
Beautiful looking bus Scott…
That is one nice bus conversion!

continued success BGM, I hope to bring you some work someday!
Thanks again for the upload and best wishes from Columbus Ohio USA

You are an all American son, father, friend and neighbor. Thank you for sharing these great videos as both entertaining and educational.
wow SOOOOO clean. amazing shape but then technically is a young bus. but soo clean in the bays. Its defiantly dates early 90s interior but.. still awesome bus!
It's a beutiful bus... the kids will love it !
I'd like to have a bus similar to that! Beautiful!
In the Greyhound livery, the MC-7 was designated as the Super 7 Senicruiser.
😲That is one nice bus conversion!
I remember working on these old MCI’s at Carolina Trailways in Charlotte
Real Nice ! Love 7’s. You can buy 2K clear online for $25 a can. It’s one use can once activated.
Man she is a beauty. I can’t wait to get mine back to 100%.
That is a stunning bus ❤❤
Looks like you nearly had to get the ram out-to drag it up the hill 😂😂
Right about the culvert i was getting nervous inside.
Freakin Wow….What a beauty .Get her heart beetin again
Once her mechanical issues are all fixed she will be a gorgeous bus any one would be proud to own👍
A very budget friendly bus for the kids.
Very nice bus. Your daughter and family will love it! For you and Troy should be an easy fix.
Beautiful bus I'm certain that engines already heading to running right in no time at all.
Wow, that was quite a struggle coming up the hill. Love the color on that bus, blue is my favorite. Now that this is your daughter's bus, what will happen to the 4104 at the bottom of the hill? Wasn't that going to be her bus?
I was going to ask the same question.
Keren bus nya om.👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
For anyone else who’s not so lucky as to call you Dad,this bus would be a no go .
But then again this bus gets the Bus Grease Monkey seal of approval your daughter is gonna love this bus/coach
And your an awesome Father .
Congratulations on the bus purchase.
Those rectangular headlights were not available until the mid 1970's. So someone customized the front of that bus.
Beautiful bus/RV, love this channel. Very unique.
52 years old. looks as nice as moder
n coach.
Very nice bus and looks functionally ready to occupy now....I see some conversion characteristics which closely resemble Custom Coach roots. Copper plumbing routed and clamped says quality work likely throughout by whomever!
It's beautiful outside it looks great even the engine is pretty clean
Beautiful Conversion bus
Wry nice! Looks better than some 5 year old RVs!
Wow beautiful bus my favorite nice and clean engine need some work but she is a beauty.
Wow impressive nice bus that old and in that kinda shape good luck on the engine would like to see that

Nice bus, was kept up for it's age.
What a iron coach. It’ll last till the end of time.
I love this coach its awesome!
That is a seriously nice bus, I'd sort out the engine and the paintwork and leave it as it is unless something is wrong with the interior, save money and enjoy it.
Beautiful Coach !

MC 7 was the type of bus I learned on in 1980 at Greyhound driver training, always liked them. good old 4 speed. Well built but slow
Nice addition.
Very very beautiful

Sweet!! The Bus Grease Monkey is back!
Makes me wonder how Tyler is coming with his bus living quarters.
The blue bus is calling us

Lovely bus!
Sweet bus brother
GRAN video Mi LIKE ❤❤👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks for the video.
What something like that will cost I know you have to put some work in the engine. Thank you for all your videos, Kentucky.
Holy smokes
Beautiful bus I'm looking into a 1978 mci mc8 seems really fair price for what it is going to go take a look at it this weekend
52 years old and still on the road. how many rvs from 1970 on still rolling along?
Wow what a beautiful bus! The kitchen was awesome! Plenty of storage and cabinets..all well thought out..drawers of a good size etc.. Like the light wood interior too.. No more mosquitoes on Bus Grease Mountain!
Mosquito exclusion zone
Nice bus wow
I like that bus
Looking at your watch a third time, waiting at the station for the bus...
The last truck I had with an 8v71 really improved when it was outfitted with a turbocharger. It looks like you have the room for it, any thoughts of doing that?
I Suddenly found myself Reaching for the Smelling Salts...!
😜
Are you going to do a build series on it?
From the looks of it that is a Bill Hanni build was looking at one in ca that was the same layout and it was a Bill Hanni coach
It really is a beautiful bus.
Fantastic
So whats going to become of the 4104 down on the slab?
where did you find this perfect time capsule. the bus looks like new.
Восхитительно!!!
VERY NICE
Well, that should knock down the mosquitos. If it were me, I'd leave the interior alone unless there was something that needed changing. Since you're not throwing parties in there, I'd for sure leave the bathroom alone, Better Homes is probably not going to grade you for that.

Nice looking coach. A little personalization and some mechanical work and it will be good to go. What's going to happen with the silver bus in the intro? Wasn't that for her and the family?
Very nice addition. What's happening with the GM that was originally for her?
