Agreed. Mark Hamil Joker is the one I grew up on, that's his voice, that's the voice I think Heath Ledger was trying to get closer to than any other, also. I don't think we're gonna see him come back at all, tho, coming back in Batman Beyond was weird enough.
Yes, this is THE Joker, because it's Mark. He IS the Joker. What started as just a fun reading, of what was supposed to be a nobody one time villain (in the comics), turned into the most iconic voiced character in cartoon history.
I recently just started playing the Arkham games for the first time (I love Steam sales!) and love how the games got most of the cast from TAS to do the lines - it makes me feel like I'm playing through a spinoff of the TV show. That said, though, while I do agree that Mark's portrayal of the Joker is the best, it's a bit unfair to compare a performance that has been refined and developed over the course of an entire TV series to performances that only had a singular movie to be developed. It's that reason why, when the discussion comes up, I tend to leave TAS and its spinoffs out of the comparisons since TAS wins every time. It's a bit like bringing a water tanker to a squirt gun fight - it doesn't matter how good the smaller ones are, the big one will always win. EDIT: Oh God, no, don't let JJ Abrams anywhere NEAR Batman, please!! That talentless hack has ruined enough franchises already, for the love of all that is sacred, let a talented writer/director do the next one!
Heath Ledger was the scariest Joke, IMO, but as far as the best, most well rounded portrayal of the character, I agree Mark Hamill will always hold that title.
