06 was my first modern sonic experience on the 360, and I'll never forget when I found out I could abuse the sky gem to skip 80% of the entire sonic story
I heard they released the beta version because the “finished” version of 06 would crash constantly upon startup and sonic team had no idea how to fix it. So they reverted back to a more stable build. Take it with a grain of salt but I wouldn’t be that surprised. Also another funny thing, Sonic’s blue energy meter only is broken because there’s one line of code that is wrong and it can be easily fixed.

I'd also mention the final game was indeed an earlier build that was released solely because the latest build of the game was unstable and prone to crashing (that's why some things in the manual don't appear in game.) Super Sonic was also going to appear in the game via a "Rainbow Gem" but this was cut for unknown reasons (though the animations still exist.) In fact a TON of animations were cut. Also, the Hedgehog Engine 1 (the rendering engine first used for Unleashed) was intended to be used for Sonic 06, but production was delayed until Unleashed's development. This was why the game likely went for a more realistic aesthetic, as it would've been a good showcase for a more powerful lighting engine. There's also a lot more unused leftovers in the game. Cars were supposed to appear in New City, but were cut due to not working properly. Sonic's Crisis City originally had a 5th section (Section D i believe) that got cut for unknown reasons. There's a very good chance the game originally would've had stories for every character much like SA1 did, but this was obviously likely cut early on, which is why Blaze, Tails, and Omega all have full (or mostly full) levels in Wave Ocean, the first stage in the game.

If you're questioning that Sonic 06 should get a remake then the answer always for me is the obvious yes in fact we already got two of them Sonic 06 the legacy of Solaris which is a Xbox 360 mod which improves on the original experience of 06 and you got Sonic project 06 by chaos x and he's famous for remaking Sonic 06 from the ground up despite not play the original game himself like taking something things that made the game bad out and then adding stuff that was not in the game before and also project 06 is still in development we already have the Sonic Shadow and silver stages already ready we just need a story the bosses and the final level of the game and then I'll be done I would recommend the legacy of Solaris since it's much more complete the project 06 for right now but you can still try it out

Well, for one, the load times, and for two, the physics engine behaved better...mostly, and to no-one's surprise, I suppose. Dusty Desert, though, at a glance from the gameplay, does give you an idea of what COULD have been: they wanted BIG, OPEN-ended level design, playing around with the idea that every stage in Sonic, from as far back as the first game in the series, was a playground of [endless] possibilities (*wink*) and branching pathways. While I do believe it'd be cooler to give Sonic '06 a second shot (I mean, SEGA definitely likes to reference it from time to time, including a funny series canon timeline joke XD), I can see why it's not on the top of their list of priorities: Adventure from a technical perspective could use the brushup, I suppose, but honestly? I don't feel like it needs it, necessarily...I'd be fine with just a straight port that fixes some of the general wonkiness, but even then that kinda stuff is rarer than '06's...damn-near-everything. So yeah, '06 definitely needs the official remake treatment, I feel...but...like...would people go for it? Mmm...maybe... Given the marked public interest in P-06, it's a strong possibility...

Just going over the facts and timeline of the development cycle really showed this game was pretty much doomed. A year and a half is already very little time to make a game and when you want it to be an ambitious soft reboot for a beloved series, that means you need to put in extra effort and can't fall back on copying a formula. Then, the development team gets cut in half to work on another game. If they were trying to beat the odds before on a strict deadline with no extra help or resources, this was pretty much a death sentence. On top of all that, a head creative that was there from the start leaves in the midst of it. I understand why Sonic Team probably felt a bit directionless after this. Yuji Naka was a huge part of Sonic's creation, and not having him there to guide the franchise anymore is a major disruption. I can hardly imagine what it must have felt like to be on the development staff at that point. SEGA should've understood that one half of Sonic Team couldn't manage a herculean feat of game production, but the ones who could make that call only cared about releasing in time for the holiday season. Nor did they want to cancel or put the next project on hold to focus on the current one (and in the end, both games probably ended up worse for it).
My sister got me sonic 06 for xmas the year it came out. I played it till the end, hated the bugs but loved sonic lol. I bought this game AGAIN when it came out on the Ps3 just because I thought the PS3 would be a fixed version.. i was wrong.

From what I remember the claim is that the Xbox Live demo is using a more recent or feature complete build, but they didn't have any time for QA so they went with the version that was shipped because while it was less finished, they knew that it had less bugs to fix and wouldn't brick people's consoles.
as a bit of advice I'd tone down the interlace effect or use a much higher resolution one as it was the first time I saw a lot of this art but it wasn't always easy to make out
Ya know it’s sad how Sonic 06’s Development was rushed. The story was great, The Soundtrack is damn good, The Gameplay was clunky, They didn’t fix various Bugs & Glitches, most of the cutscenes are not well animated & look Ragdoll style. Well I’ve played other rushed Games like Mega Man 3 (That game was actually good though) & Mega Man X6 which was okay but has a couple of issues.

I will always believe 06 needs a remake to make it the best it can be and that it deserves. However, I'm still in the belief that to show how good the new 06 is, to port the old one to the new consoles as well, maybe for free or in a bundle with the new one
idk if this is the actual "scrapped" amigo boss rush but there is a bossattackamigo dlc for 06 that features side characters fighting bosses, i never played it because i played 06 once for comparison so i can see the difference between P06 and 06 and i just, didn't want more so i may be wrong but it does exist i had it on the ps3
I once read a forum thread about Yuji Naka where someone else proposed the idea that he might have intentionally sabotaged 06. However, I vaguely recall their version of the story being more about an act of spite towards SEGA. Sonic was just collateral damage. My point is, you're not the only one who thinks this...
I mean it just makes sense. He threatened to leave once with sonic X-treme. So for me, it’s more so that he wants sonic to be his way only, and he saw he was losing his “vision” so he basically tried killing the series with this game

10:23 Hear me out. They just used the most stable build at the time, not the latest one. XBLA demo had more stuff from the manual (bar, for example), but it was unstable enough, you could easily clip through walls, the game would crash frequently etc.

@@shaulov10 I can tell the difference, as a former speedrunner of this game. Sonic doesnt crash into stuff at high speed, instead, he just clips through. The game also randomly crashes, pause screen is semi functional
I see Sonic '06 as a bit of a flawed masterpiece. If the Sega employees didn't panic about Yuji Naka on what he would do/say. I think us, the consumer, would have gotten something that would surprise an entire generation. Maybe even would have blown Sega out of the slump of sales issues from 2005

P-06 just makes the game play good with updated graphics and QOL changes. And Chaos X said he has no plans on doing the hubs so your only getting like 70% of the experience
@@shaulov10 I've heard that it is possible that after Chaos X finishes the production of the final release then any other talented modders might get interested in having themselves develope mods of the Story Mode and the Hub Worlds for P-06 so that that impressive fanmade remake can finally look fully complete.

I will always believe 06 needs a remake to make it the best it can be and that it deserves. However, I'm still in the belief that to show how good the new 06 is, to port the old one to the new consoles as well, maybe for free or in a bundle with the new one

idk if this is the actual "scrapped" amigo boss rush but there is a bossattackamigo dlc for 06 that features side characters fighting bosses, i never played it because i played 06 once for comparison so i can see the difference between P06 and 06 and i just, didn't want more so i may be wrong but it does exist i had it on the ps3

I once read a forum thread about Yuji Naka where someone else proposed the idea that he might have intentionally sabotaged 06. However, I vaguely recall their version of the story being more about an act of spite towards SEGA. Sonic was just collateral damage. My point is, you're not the only one who thinks this...
I mean it just makes sense. He threatened to leave once with sonic X-treme. So for me, it’s more so that he wants sonic to be his way only, and he saw he was losing his “vision” so he basically tried killing the series with this game

10:23 Hear me out. They just used the most stable build at the time, not the latest one. XBLA demo had more stuff from the manual (bar, for example), but it was unstable enough, you could easily clip through walls, the game would crash frequently etc.

@@shaulov10 I can tell the difference, as a former speedrunner of this game. Sonic doesnt crash into stuff at high speed, instead, he just clips through. The game also randomly crashes, pause screen is semi functional

I see Sonic '06 as a bit of a flawed masterpiece. If the Sega employees didn't panic about Yuji Naka on what he would do/say. I think us, the consumer, would have gotten something that would surprise an entire generation. Maybe even would have blown Sega out of the slump of sales issues from 2005

@@shaulov10 i feel like unleashed did it best. Adventure gets around that issue because the Dreamcast couldn't do realistic humans while the xbox 360 and ps3 kinda could.

P-06 just makes the game play good with updated graphics and QOL changes. And Chaos X said he has no plans on doing the hubs so your only getting like 70% of the experience
@@shaulov10 I've heard that it is possible that after Chaos X finishes the production of the final release then any other talented modders might get interested in having themselves develope mods of the Story Mode and the Hub Worlds for P-06 so that that impressive fanmade remake can finally look fully complete.
