- I don't remember other bears hitting the deck like this one. Maybe the soft new grass felt good on its belly. Regardless, it seemed to enjoy it.
I'm pretty sure it saw me and didn't feel like getting closer, which didn't give me a chance to see if it was one of the usual suspects.

Ok that big boy has some silly bear moves. First, the big plop. Then he moved, settled, and started wiggling his rear. I’m so happy the season of bear watching has begun.
lol.....and then, while meandering, he got to the paved driveway and ran (loped) across, then stopped. ('A little used to hurrying across roads?) 🤭
The soft, spring grass makes the perfect place to plop down for a brief rest. Such a handsome fella. Looking forward to seeing who else will show up this year.

Oh My Heart!! What a beautiful chunkster he is!! He lays down like a big dog. I lived on a mountain property in rural PA for 30 years and also had some incredible encounters with some wonderful wildlife (including black bears). Due to health and finances, I had to move to "town". I miss them so much. Thank you for sharing your life through your videos. It brings me joy!!
Sorry to hear about you having to move away from your beloved wildlife.
I hope that you will take some comfort in your lovely memories.
@candacemay7187 - These videos are a godsend to folks like us, I also moved to town after a lifetime living in a very rural area. Miss those early mornings having coffee on the porch, watching the forest critters.

It's so wonderful to see our beautiful bears again. And once more we're getting some chuckles as this one waved his/her butt back & forth while lying on the grass to assess the situation - never saw that b4! This was a lovely, long look at one of our gorgeous furpals roaming around in total relaxation. Sheer pleasure! Thank you, Patrick! 💖✌🐻

The bear is not "stalking". He seems to be sniffing around for something good to eat amd possibly a handout.
Someone has probably fed him before. He wasn't aggressive about it at all though and even seemed like he was trying to show he was mellow and not a threat.... so "please throw me a goodie?!".
Black bears are about 90% herbivorous.
TOO CUTE!!!! He just flopped down like a flattened chicken! Quite a feat for a big boy like that! So adorable!!! He wants to go for a snooze in the yard but can't seem comfortable. LOL! I don't think he is one of your regular bears because he didn't check out the porch.

Patrick, that teddy bear is just like me!! After 2 back surgeries it's walk a little then sit & repeat. So cute when teddy laid its chin in the grass and kept looking at you. I simply adore every video you put for all of us.

It seems like Well-Fed Bear was a bit frustrated that you could still see him in spite of his efforts not to be seen. He did the classic mini-lunge to express his frustration, but, other than that, he seems like a decent bear.
Being in my sixties, I know the reference you made with your title (good one!). I also enjoy learning about the bears that visit your area. I just realized why your area looks so nice: no fences! In California, EVERYONE has a fence, so it’s nice to see how fenceless NC seems more neighborly - which includes neighbors from the forest.
Oh, and if Stella visits, you might consider a video of her. She’s a pretty and sweet dog (if memory serves).

Yep, so many animals think they’re hiding when in plain sight. We have to tell them “we can totally see you…still”. They seem to get embarrassed. 🙈
