Robotwars Series 4 Heat N Part 1

- The fourth wars saw a new 3-way eliminator bout for round 1 and it was back to 6 contestants a heat. This series also saw the intorduction of the new house robot Refbot whose job it was to dispense justice and act as the only moral robot in the arena. The familiar faces of Craig Charles and Johnathan Pearce remain in the spotlight but Phillipa Forrester gives way for her replacement for the series, Julia Reed. The 6 robots in Heat N are Behemoth, Arnold A Terminegger, Rambot, Judge Shred 2, Millennium and X-Terminator.

That was one of those eliminators where all three robots were capable of doing work and worthy of going through.
This was definitely one of the closest heat elimitors in the series and it's so surpring that it was. I initially counted out Arnold but they actually got some really good lifts on Behemoth, and Rambot was great too. Just not enough damage or control for them to go through, but a really entertaining battle.
Ha ha 1:15 The joy on that kids face just sitting drawing pictures in the pit is brilliant. Interesting tactics she was drawing up there 😆
Jayne didn't have charisma. All she did was say "Your robot looks scary" and then say your robot has *insert weapon name here*....what does it do? She was bloody clueless. At least Jules knew what a robots weapon did! And she actually seemed interested in what she was doing. Jayne seemed fake and irritating
So close Rambot. So close.
He punctured Behemoth though!.
It's a shame one of them had to go really. Really good robots in that eliminator.
And just shows how good battles can be when the teams actually build their robots with srimechs!! Wish more people had picked up on their importance this war
Rambot wre great bots, one of the fastest bots I've seen this early on. I found a lot of bots were very sluggish back in the earlier wars, Rambot was well ahead of its time. Hope we get to see it return in the future!
He returned as Double Trouble in series 6.
this was one of the closet battles I've ever seen
Hands down one of my favourite heats of robot wars in general!
Arnold has got to be one of the worst named robots in the history of the show. Doesn't quite take home the title due to Kronic The Wedgehog but still close.
He was 2nd to Pussycat in 1 of the extreme 1 annihilators.
7:26 I have never spotted that arena sidewall ram until now! Never before was it mentioned and it was never picked up on. Only ever seen it used in this battle. Anyone know more on it?
In this series, being seeded 32nd is better than being seeded 17th, as for some reason they made it so seed 1 would meet seed 17 ect.
Ah, the ever- hapless Behemoth- one of the longest-runners on the show, they only ever made a semifinal once in their debut appearance. Poor blighters, but they persisted with admirable fortitude where another team might have given up, are still active on the live circuit and even appeared on the 2015 Battlebots reboot (with, unfortunately, the rather pathetic plastic robot Radioactive). As soon as I heard Robot Wars was coming back to TV my _first_ thought was "I bet Behemoth are going to come back". And I can't wait to see them.
Arnold, Arnold Terminegger isn't an amazing bot, but they did put on a really impressive underdog performance in the first Annihilator tournament in Extreme, coming second only to Pussycat. Not exactly a top team to watch, but good competitors with impressive engineering skills (they mainly specialised in walkers) and they give Behemoth a good run for their money in this melee.
Jonathan was right, that was a very good melee. Rambot may have fallen at the first hurdle, but the robot was actually pretty effective although yeah, its control was about on par with Stinger's. Behemoth showed off its power by flipping AA Terminegger around, but Arnold showed of its resilience by recovering comfortably and even got a couple of good lifts in on Behemoth in return (although they never flipped them). Perhaps most oddly, the House Robots never got involved (apart from a tiny lick of flame from Bash) which would have made it a very hard decision to make.
Funny, what Julia said to the Rambot team at the end ("Power is nothing without control") was actually the personal motto of Ian Watts from Team Big Brother. It's why he was such a good driver and why Bigger Brother was able to clinch 2nd place next war.
Behemoth beat hypno disk once didn't they?
Can't exactly remember, Behemoth have probably fought more opponents than almost anyone, but I wouldn't be surprised. Actually, now that I think about it, I'm sure they did. Lemme look it up Yep, beat Hypno-Disc in the first round of the Extreme series All-Stars tournament, before losing to Razer in the 2nd round.
...especially with who their plastic bot drew. Early-round carnage makes for good tv, though.
Don't worry about that though, the REAL robot is returning in less than 2 days. The reboot and the return of Behemoth (who actually became champions on the live circuit once) is nigh...
ArcaneAzmadi I hope behemoth is less of a crap out
uurrgg...X-Terminator i never liked how everyone said they had a 'fearsome' ax when it only bounced off other robots. i think killatron's pickax was more threatening then any X-Terminator ax.
you can tell that the main reason for behemoth's 6th seeding is because of being a runner-up in the world championship, not because of the main competition which i would've thought would count more =P
X-Terminator edged him out in the final.
Rambots damage on Behemoth was a couple of tiny holes, so it probably got only a few points. While it showed a lot of aggression, many times it crashed into Behemoth and Arnold and then drove into a cpz or the Arena wall. Meanwhile Behemoth and Arnold were much more measured and focused with their attacks, so I would give them more points for style and control.
Rambot- damage (minor), great aggression, poor control and style
Arnold- good aggression, great control and style
Behemoth- above
@kartkidchun the reason for that is because it made it sound a bit like a spy, who adresses their name twice. that's the only explenation I can come up with. :)
Arnold, Arnold Terminegger should've been the one eliminated, not Rambot. Rambot did really well, and Arnold, Arnold Terminegger did the worst, of the bunch. Maybe it was Behemoth flipping Rambot many times that caused Rambot to be eliminated? Exactly like that earlier decision which in everyone's opinion that Medusa 2000 should've been eliminated instead of Attila the Drum.
+Colby Gleason Arnold got in several good lifts on Behemoth and showed good control throughout. Rambot was generally speeding all over the arena and crashing into the walls more than attacking the other competitors.
+Kill Dozer Rambot had less control, but a LOT of aggression. Arnie, on the other hand, didn't have any aggression AT ALL.
Colby Gleason "Arnie, on the other hand, didn't have any aggression AT ALL." Well then, you clearly need to rewatch the battle, because it clearly DID. What, did Behemoth just magically lift itself up into the air? Twice?
+Kill Dozer Actually, FORGET the last comment. A.A. Terminegger might've had the less aggression but DEFINITELY NOT no aggression. BUT, in comparison to Rambot, no aggression. Why Rambot lost in my opinion is that they had little fucking control over the machine. Arnold had good control.
metal ties ! they rock!
@KillDozer123 i think robots like killerhurtz were seeded because of design and potential, though i would've seeded it rather low like in the 30s. it seems a bit weird though that diotoir was one of the top 4 in the first world championship and behemoth was runner up and behemoth is seeded 15 places above even though they reached the same stage in the main competition. i'll always be confused how they seed robots in a specific order i guess
series 4 was the best series for me
Did the Rambot driver have any practice? It almost looked at times like that driving plus the speed is what cost them in the end. A lot of spinning or driving into the wall, but not much into the action.
Behemoth seeded 6th for mainly being the world championship runners-up, despite losing in heat final previous series. Rambot reminds me of Shogun in first series, I think the judges made the wrong decision here. Arnold Arnold Terminegger had a good start but was got flipped and pushed against numerous times.
probably the most even battle of the series
@KillDozer123 makes a lot of sense to me, i think the method that should've been used for every series is ranking robots 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, rest of top 8, rest of top 16, etc etc and using experience/how far they got in all previous series from there. have to admit, ranking seeds in series 7 probably wouldn't have been easy
An unseeded king was crowned in series 7!.
@willmott2k10 I think, in that series, they seeded robots for several different reasons, often trivial.....I wouldn't be surprised if Killerhurtz got its high seeding from its success in the American competitions.
That being said, I'm glad the other series, generally, fixed the seeding....although I still don't think any had a "perfect" roster.
Arnold, Arnold Termi- what now?
I've met the Behemoth team.
What lost it for Rambot was their incredibly poor control.
Also, Julia says Rambot is the fastest robot there at 20mph, then not 5 minutes is saying that X-Terminator is the fastest robot she's ever seen at 25 mph...
2nd quickest speed wise in the series.
@ 5:02 let's give our 3 robots a BIG round of applause
Why did the Arnold, Arnold Terminegger name the robot twice? Why not just Arnold Terminegger? My puny little mind will never understand simplicity.
He won the series 3 walker championship as Miss Struts.
I really liked the fight between these 3, if they were seperated in different heats, all of them would've easily proceeded the first round
Nonono--it's not "muscle," it's "MAAAASCLE."
Rambot would easily have won one of the weaker heats
i dreamed that people from the 1800’s saw this
What a random coincidence, at 3:51 I found out that I am not the only David Johnson on the planet
@ 10.02 I notice the JS2 team walking.
Just watching Arnold won, but scoring them Rambot won just because it did damage (which gets more emphasis) and didn't do much after nearly toppling Behemoth, hard decision there
@TheLegacyofHitchcock - I guess this proves that, whilst damage may be the most decisive factor, it won't always win the decision right away.
@Gavin17259 nope, the team did enter series 6 however, with double trouble.
3 flipper bots, all with srimechs. All a bit Sisyphean...
Darn, I thought Rambot had it in the bag
@karl100589 Whilst I can't admit to agreeing on just 16 seeds, I do agree on your choices. I've said it before, and I'll say it again as much as I need to....the top four seeds should ALWAYS have been the top four finishers from the previous year.
Seriously, out of the five series with seeds involved, that only happened once, in Series 6. OK, granted, Razer was absent from Series 7 (and technically, so was Terrorhurtz, but it was still seeded oddly), so that's mucked up anyway, but still....
where do I get one of those ties
i presume you mean Muhunthan Thangeswaran? :P
@willmott2k10 True.....but I like a challenge.
@willmott2k10 Not to mention that not every robot that could have been seeded got in, like Inverterbrat or Darke Destroyer, despite being heat finalists.
If I had my way, the top four would be the first four seedings, then Panic Attack (former champion), then the rest of the semi-finalists (better they did, higher they go), then the 1st, 2nd and 3rd from the World Championships, then all the Heat Finalists....then the rest of the spaces I'd base on form from the previous three wars.
i wanna buy rambot ^_^
@KillDozer123 Agreed. Personally it should've been just 16 seeds, something like:
1)Chaos 2
2)Hypnosdisc
3)Firestorm
4)Steg 2
5)Panic Attack
6)Gemini
7)101
8) Wild Thing
9)Spawn
10)Bigger Brother
11)Gravedigger
12)Evil Weevil
13)Razer
14)Behemoth
15)Wheely Big Cheese
16) Mortis
rambot unlucky
Any of these robots could have won heat K
Rambot should have won
@tourdeforce17 She was just generally an awful presenter for RW. I'd like to think she was better on other shows, but I don't remember ever seeing her on another show!
Can anybody make out Rambot's team name at around 3:39?
@Headbanger142 At least Jayne had charisma and a nice accent tho! ;)
