@@pipinfresh I still watch Robot Wars now and I still love the programme. I keep thinking how much older everyone who was there must be now, makes me feel like crying for some reason. All the people on Robot Wars were awesome and I hope all is ok in their lives now. I reckon I would have fitted in there with those people really well. I hope there's still other people who still share my interest in Robot Wars and that the Robot Wars events can go ahead once this lockdown has hopefully gone. I would have loved to have taken part in Robot Wars.

Watching these back the sumo is so unfair. Sometimes shunt flies forward and takes them out and other times he sits and waits. Really up to the driver of shunt who wins
I rank them right up there alongside The Watts Family (Bigger Brother) in terms of appeal. Wonder what it would've been like if their robots had crossed paths and competed against each other in battle.
Looking back It's pretty obvious they had told the Shunt driver to hold back a little in the sumo after the first few weeks of complete domination, its kinda unfair to the teams that went at the start ehh
Well that final was a worthwhile fight between the only two useful bots in the heat. (And maybe Disco Inferno would have been if it didn't 'break down')
I'm glad Dominator 2 won this heat. I mean, 101 are robust and reliable, but what do they actually do? Their little spike that they call a weapon is useless even when it does work. It has a good driver, but it can't do a lot except just survive.
And that's Bad? It's sturdy, reliable and can handle the ramming to use it's weapon. If it can out-power enemy bots in terms of push, it's a solid bot idea. No need to overinvent the wheel when a basic, sturdy format works just fine.
101 was always one of those bots that didn't seem particularly threatening but it just never stopped. It was uterly relentless, HD couldn't stop it, Razer couldn't stop it, Dominator II couldn't stop it. The thing just never went down. It had incredible traction which gave it a lot of pushing power, that often made it hard to line up any kind of attack. A very well built machine. It was built for attrition.
Howcome Disco Inferno got their robot back in one piece after it 'died'? I mean, that's a good thing, but many other more mobile bots got viciously mangled by the house thugbots. What determines whether the thugbots gang up on a luckless competitor or not? Bribes? Whims of the producers?
@@BrodieGH Yeah good point, I guess the fact it was very reliable was actually quite an acheivement for series 3! But once people sorted out how to make robots all 101 ever did was survive as long as it could. It was nice to come back and truly appreciate Dominator putting some holes in it

Dominator 2's axe was so damn strong for series 4. It was like if a competitor had Shunt's axe.

This is actually the first episode of Robot Wars that I ever saw on TV back in 2003 and boy did it get me hooked

I used to like 101 as a kid too, no idea why, incredibly boring robot
