Kim Davies returns with Panic Attack once more, as he looks to hold off the likes of S.M.I.D.S.Y. and Aggrobot 2 to progress to the series Semi-Finals.
SMIDSY is one of those robots I have a soft spot for. It fell into the same category as Tornado and Storm 2 as one of the best full body hammers in the series, though it never got through the heats - 3 heat finals though, to very good robots in Panic Attack, Chaos 2 and Atomic. One of those 'what ifs' for me, but you don't get past Kim Davies' driving. This was a clinic on how to do it, a fantastic scrap by the boys from Cwmbran. I thought this wasn't as particularly thrilling episode at first, but actually this is one of the better ones for driving skill.
I'm more a Panic Attack fan but do have a soft spot for SMIDSY too. They were just unlucky most of the time, I mean I joke about Benemoth's rotten luck but....SMIDSY is a close second for worst luck ever.
Seeing Killalot rip off Matilda's wheel pretty much sums up why they reduced it to 2 house robots. Too much shit going on in the arena at once and often too much friendly fire. Then again, Killalot also attacked Sgt Bash and Shunt in the EW House Robot Rebellion a couple years later. Killalot not really the brightest.
Many years ago I was visiting a friend in his home town and we saw Kim and his family. Didn't say hi to him (like I said, he was with his family), but we still thought cool all the same.
Can we get some big ups for my boy Saw Point here? That 2 second KO on Oblivion, cor I bet Dominator 2 is jealous. Who needs a fancy pants axe? It's all about locomotion, baby. Saw Point can drive on its side and get back onto its wheels just fine, without any spinning blades. Pussycat, take notes. Outpushing the 4 wheel drive Aggrobot with just 2 wheels? Those saws on a wooden floor= genius. The splitting harpoon weapon? Lovely stuff, won't see anything that innovative again until Niterider. Also, this is a Heat with a former champion, a 3 time Heat finalist, a team that beat Razer, a team that would go onto build one of the most powerful spinners in the show, and the mighty Overkill. Yet Saw Point came third, incredible.
Ah, now this is a bit better lineup than the last few heats. Overkill looks promising, Smidsy and of course Panic Attack - but it looked like Panic Attack was running rings round the both of them. Probably Overkill was a little unlucky to be pitted against those two. The other heat, Aggrobot was the only convincing one. Panica Attack vs Saw Point - what are those damn house robots doing, getting in the way? Panic Attack was quite capable of carting Saw Point all round the arena and dumping it in the pit by itself, thank you very much! I think it was probably just understandable frustration that impelled Panic Attack to try and push Killalot into the pit too. And then have a go at Shunt. I *love* Panic Attack! :) So then in the final Panic Attack saw their chance and put Smidsy in the pit - it was a good fight from Smidsy though, they were by no means a pushover. (Except literally :)
@@joeandrews7329it was very strange to put these three strong robots against each other in the first round. they could probably all become finalists in different heats. To Joe X.
It's reminiscent of the grand final of series 3, where they showed Chaos 2 and Hypno-Disc being wheeled into the arena and position. Made it more hype and exciting in the run up to the battle.

To me this was Smidsy's best run on the show, even giving Panic Attack a good run around.

Jonathan didn't even notice Killalot ripped out Matilda's wheel.
And yet strangely Stefan Frank did in the Grand Champions dub.

Matilda was destroyed in the series 4 Southern annihilator final by Razer!.
Put overkill in the mousetrap heat and it probably would have won it. what a shame such a decent robot went up against 2 vets so early
Actually at that point SMIDSY had the about the same amount of battle experience as Overkill (both series 3 round 1).
What about Rambot? Even better
It’s especially a shame cause it happened to them before, coming up against 101 in series 3, who they nearly beat before breaking down.
Overkill had a puncture in round 1. From Joe. X
The Overkill team was really unlucky to be thrown in a three way melee with two veterans like Panic Attack and SMIDSY.
