    In this video we take a little detour from our regular style as we do a complete review of what you should covering prior to the NACOR Optician's Exam.
    This video is primarily aimed at our Canadian students and was inspired by a number of requests as the exams are approaching!
    If you are preparing for the ABO NOCE exam, this video will be much more technical than you need. However, if you plan on taking the next steps and challenging the ABO practical exams, this may be of interest.
    As I mention in the video, this one ended up going allot longer than I expected, so I decided to break it up into 2 parts. Make sure to to check out the second part:

    Thank you for this helpful information video. In section #3( on video, minutes 43.00 ), measurement OC, in full-frame, we need to add 0.5 mm to our measurement result. Adding 1mm is, for measuring A and B in full -frame.

    This was a great video! If I could recommend something, I think a playlist of videos where you go through and demonstrate the individual techniques, skills, and calculations required for each part would be REALLY cool.

    Do we need to memorize the different equations? Or do they provide a list for the exam?

    So we won't have to do any edging during the exam you don't think? Also it's the 2015 ANSI tolerance chart we'll be using right, and they'll provide us a copy or should we bring a printed one? Thanks for making these videos btw, they're super helpful!

    Hi, I am a qualified optician from South Africa, I am planning on immigrating to Canada. Would I need to do this exam to work as an optician in Canada?

    Awesome video, thank you!
    Question: Is it possible to find prescribed prism in duplication without having the PD and OC height?

    • @modernoptician
      @modernoptician  3 года назад +2

      That is a great question. Not a simple yes or no question. With experience, you can definitely tell there is prism with the lensmeter, however you won't always be able to accurately quantify it without know the intended PD. The exception in this case is with vertical prism. The amount of vertical prism can be qualified regardless of knowing the OC. This is because the prism is manifested as the difference in prism between the two lenses. This is the reason prism can be spilt between lenses in an effort to balance lens cosmetics. I higher degrees of prism, the reticle with never be focused centrally and you can probably estimate the amount, but without the pd you couldn't "neutralize" prism.

    Quick side notes: The OAC will lend distometers to students upon email request. The student pays the shipping cost.
    The pupilometer has been waived this year due to COVID
    We are not asked to identify progressive brands, according to the OAC Nacor prep session Q&A.
    PS: We are faking our confidence, not our skills lol!!
