Thank you for this helpful information video. In section #3( on video, minutes 43.00 ), measurement OC, in full-frame, we need to add 0.5 mm to our measurement result. Adding 1mm is, for measuring A and B in full -frame.
Thank u 4 the video
2:16 why it is in front of crystalline lens? I think it is in front of iris.

I am interested in purchasing the course, but got couple questions, don’t find any contact on website, what’s the best way to reach you
❤
Hi are you on other social media platforms as well? I really love your content I’m just unsure if I want to pay that much. I’m already doing the OpticalU program as an apprenticeship at Walmart vision center.
As a retired electrical engineer I found your presentation to be clear and concise. Now I understand how to adjust a distance prescription to any other less-distant focus length. Thank you!
narrator misspoke at 5:03: ADDUCTION is turning TOWARDS the median line of the body ABDUCTION is turning AWAY from the median line of the body
be sure to write Palatine Bone in your notes instead of "palantine" (misspell)
The title of this should be changed to "The Optic Nerve"
it is free so they don't care too much😁
Thank you! 🙏🏾

Hey. Why are companies like Walmart putting people with no licence or formal education over Vision Centers? Georgia is a LDO state but they are finding ways around the laws. The managers they put in these heavily gossip about employees, customers and break HiPAA with a pure hate for the licensing process.
I'm not an optician, but I thought this was pretty cool. thank you!
Thank you for making these, you did a great job bro!
I assume this is for British opticians as opposed to American opticians. American opticians have an 8 week trade school classes--British opticians are more like American 8 year university training.
Hello. I have a question. How can I become an optician and work in the United States? I'm from and live in Mexico and I've got a Bachelor of Optometry from a Federal University here.
As a retired American O.D. : my advise--its not worth the time & expense. --All doctors in USA are abused in school & by unappreciative patients. You have been warned !
Every state is different. Some states you need your license and some don't. But if you move from one state to another and that state is a license state you have to take their state board. Your license doesn't carry over by state by state.
Thank you soo much I can't tell you how much I appreciate it
I really appreciate your videos. They're extremely helpful. Thank you!
thank you soo much please continue what you are doing. 🙏🙏
What a complicated way to explain something! Goodbye!
It's optician training. Are you an optician?
How you get the license
FYI Modern Optician is an AMAZING resource! That being said, This video does not explain how to pass your ABO It explains how to use their website to pass your ABO which is $99.00 a year.
Nice program, but please note that your script in Extraocular Muscles is all over the place with respect to directions (ie. abduction/adduction). Please update! Thanks :)
I feel, astigmatism was presented very good in this video. It is, however treated quite differently. I feel, that some of my past opticians very afraid of prescribing "cyl" correction. I felt, something was wrong with my eyes, and I was prescribed R +1.50 / L + 1.00, no "cyl". The eyes relaxed a bit, but dictance vision became a bit blurry, and did not use these glasses permanently. After a year or so, the next optician said, we should try a "cyl" correction, and he prescribed R +1.75/ -1.00 cyl and R +1.25/-0.50 cyl. This was already better. Only 4 months later, I was prescribed R +0.75sph/-2.50cyl at 98 degrees and L +0.75/-2.50cyl at 080 degrees. The optician said, I should not give up, there might be a strange feeling or tension in the eyes during the first days, and really, it took more than 2 weeks until the eyes accepted. After 6 weeks, it was so excellent, that I don't feel now, that I'm wearing glasses, the vision is extremely sharp now, the eyes are completely relaxed. Without glasses, there is indeed not too much blur (the sphercial equivalent is near zero: +0.75 - (-2.50x0.5) = + 0.75 - 1.25 = - 0.50, but there is a kind of aching in the eyes, it hurts and irritates from the first moment. Btw I also got, with the -2.50 cyl correction for astigmatism a 5.00 base out prism correction (left eye and right eye) to avoid double vision, I had that, especially, when tired. This sounds complicated, but it is perfect. A friend of mine (he is myopica at -7.50 on both eyes) recently expressed doubt, If I would really NEED my glasses. Yes, I NEED them, when you have astigmatism, glasses are a great help!
Hello Can you just solve this for me? My BIOFOCAL prescription says: RE -2.25 CYL 90 AXIS LE -2.25 CYL 90 AXIS ADD RE +1.50 LE +1.50 So now I have 3 questions: 1. what would be the intermediate number? (Single vision intermediate pair for computer/laptop use) 2. What would be the near number? (Single vision reading pair) 3. What would be the combination of intermediate & addition? (Bifocal pair of intermediate & ADD number) Thanks in advance.
I don't know if you've gotten the answers to this, but I'll try (You're missing the cylinder power btw). Your intermediate power is -1.50 in both eyes, your near power is -0.75 in both eyes. If you wanted an office/computer bifocal you may want -1.50 with an ADD of +0.75, but like he said this is dependent on how far exactly your computer/laptop is, but this should work for you generally speaking, just don't drive in these :)
Hi , is radiuscope will come this year ?
Is thr ABO a written test? I thought it was on computer multiple choice
Thank you so muchhh
Hi I'm not an optician but could you answer a question for me? I'm doing some Data Science work for school and as part of the assignment we were given a big excel spreadsheet full of patient data which we have to clean up (fix erroneous data, filling missing data, etc). I have two columns on Intraocular Pressure measured with two different methods (Pneumatic machine and Perkins instrument). From what I've read in some medical text books these seem to measure the same thing, but in cases where my spreadsheet has both entries they differ. Is there some sort of equation linking the two like how Fahrenheit is linked to Celsius? I've tried plotting the points to find a relationship but they don't make a nice line so I'm thinking they're two different measurements from different points in time but I wasn't sure. If you were to measure the same patient's IOP on the same day using both methods should they give you exactly the same result? Thank you.
Both are measured in mmHg. The difference is related to accuracy. Perkins tonometry uses aplanation of the corneal surface while the pneumatic system is just a puff of air. Not sure about the intended outcome of your assignment, but having both figures is redundant. The Perkins data is much more accurate.
@@modernoptician Ah that's useful to know. Thank you very much. I'll replace the missing pneumatic data with the Perkins data where I can. Edit: For the assignment they gave us some artificially corrupted patient data in an excel file and we have to roleplay as data scientist hired to help the optician recover as much patient data as possible, but they gave us zero context as to what any of the data is and we're CS students so we don't have any medical background haha. Which is why I went looking for Opticians on RUclips to ask questions to.
Thank you!!! SO helpful! Every single video is sooo awesome. ^.^
Thank you I appreciate your videos
Just wanted to say Thank you for putting all of these videos out
Thanks
Hey how are you
Hi Shawn love the videos question for you Iam an ABO Licensed Optician in CA I want to study for the NCLE what study books that you have would help me? Be Well
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoy the content! I am currently working on a contact lens study guide which would be perfect for you! Unfortunately, these things do take a bit of time....im hoping to have it published by the end of April. Until then, the ocular anatomy study guide is a really good start. I will make sure to make an announcement when the contact lens guide is released!
Hi just wanted to say Thank you for the info iam a long time ABOd Licensed in CA but I have been thinking about testing for the NCLE do you have study prep material for this test? Thank you
Thank you!
Great one sir i really appreciate this sir hope too follow you up sir time too time sir
I very much enjoyed your lecture even though I am not a clinician. You helped me understand my refractive errors and the reality of aging eye balls.I have a question: If my left and right eye use a PL for Sphere and -.25 for a Cylinder, what would the a progressive ADD prescription look like if I needed +.75 for intermediate and +1.50 for reading up close? To be clear, I do need a -.25 Cylinder but now in my fifties there are some (+) requirements for viewing at intermediate and reading distances. I look forward to reading your reply.
I’m not far sighted I don’t see things out front blurry even work out my glasses just everything it shrinks to about 60% less so I’m confused
Things are much smaller without my glasses +7.25 (R) +8.75 (L) add +2.00 and Strabismus from birth. The big 60 in 2023 yikes 🤪
The weird thing is that my glasses exploding reading I see things far away still and closer to degree nothings out of focus but when it comes to reading forget about it but if it’s a sign and it’s big yes I can see it but there’s a but I’ll take too long to explain, Hyperopia +8.75 add +200
