    I remember this fire...As I recall it started in a classroom closet during recess. The room's heat detector activated quickly which cleared out the building fast but due to the school's very old and dry wood frame plus no sprinklers the fire was already shooting through the roof by the time firefighters arrived. They never did nail down a cause, first they thought it was arson, then they thought an electrical short had started the blaze. In either case the new school is nice; with a very very good system. Love those Amseco bells (branded by Mircom) One thing I'll never get though; why do they always refer to an elementary school coat room as a "cloak room"? Oh the things we all grow up wondering about.

      @IanGSully 2 года назад +1

      Honestly, I am thinking it was more of an electrical fire than an arson, because I think they would have to get passed the office first, idk

    Wow, what a nightmare, one day your at school, you go out to have fun, you turn around and the school is I gulped in flames! Too bad for the cool kids that brought their phones or devices, haha!
    It was so cool that the school was rebuilt again! Good thing the Fire didn’t spread too far out. It’s awesome how some people can rebuild a whole school, and install so much more!
    This video was really cool, and I learned about the equipment they use, and how some of the pull stations works, watching some of the other videos you’ve posted. Absolutely awesome, I love this content, and can’t wait for more! 🤩

      Thanks glad you enjoyed it definitely would’ve been interesting for the kids it was a fairly fast rebuild as they based it on another school that the district already had to reuse the same designs which I think worked out ok for the limited time. They had to develop a new building

    We had an old historic 1905 wood-framed 3-story elementary school in our city that burned to the ground during a remodel in 2000, and a high school burned a while ago in a neighboring district. In both cases, brand new buildings had to be built. I went to elementary school in an identical building, which survived the same remodel, and had a sprinkler system installed I guess they learned their lesson. However my 1966 brick middle school also had many improvements. (Replace tile floor, replace windows, new fire alarm panel.) but never had sprinklers installed!

    • @nics-systems-electric
      @nics-systems-electric  Год назад

      That’s crazy. We have many un sprinklered schools still. We’ve never had a sprinklered School burn down but plenty of non-sprinkler schools. Most of the fires were from arson probably three or four of them none that took the entire building. I think a big part of that is usually they are started from the outside, so it doesn’t start from the centre of the building to spread as much

    • @maxdutiel
      @maxdutiel Год назад

      Hmm. My highschool is partially sprinklered, but I guess maybe some of the sprinklers may be above the drop ceiling. But there are sprinklers that I can see in the science rooms, especially next to the windows. Also in the hallways there are sprinklers next to the windows there as well. Also in the 2 most recent additions (New gym and classrooms, both on different parts of the building) they are sprinklered as well. But the middle school I went to was sprinklered before I got there, and my elementary school was sprinklered just before I left, which is interesting because part of it had burned down in the 70s (my dad was a student there at the time). The story I was told was that they were burning paint off of the building, and the old wood siding caught fire.
