Nonetheless Anish is tired of those drawish moves and can challenge the very best players of the game like this. Although it was drawn but the game was exciting and Magnus always with those tricky moves again found the draw. Impressive stuff.
Anish doesn't make draws deliberately he just goes for the best move in the position some times it work sometimes it doesn't. On the other hand players like dubov try to find creative ideas instead but it also doesn't work always. Also anish has to protect his rating if he loses too much and loses his rating he won't get invited in top tournaments. Life of a chess player ain't easy.
People always talk about how strong bishop pair is , but they never talk about knight pair. This game demonstrates how deadly knight pair can be , forking everything left and right...
I think when both knights are close to king working together they are even more powerful than bishop pair because they can jump over pawns and fork threats everywhere.

Haven't been this disappointed by the end of a game since that one draw by Caruana after a brilliant attacking game. Sad that Anish couldn't convert the queen sac to a full point but good stuff nonetheless.
I cant imagine how demoralizing it is finding these lines in analysis after playing against someone like Magnus. In the moment, you have to believe that when Magnus does something it's the best possible idea, because most of the time it just is. You have to be so incredibly confident in those few seconds that you see something the world champion missed.
Amazing game. Was surprised and stunned by Anish’s Q sacrifice and hugely impressed that from that move he drove Carlsen into a corner and heavy - but very clever - defensive moves. But Anish couldn’t quite convert a dominant position to a Win and almost ‘allowing’ Carlsen to draw the game. But this is part of the power being a Master, your opponents almost don’t want to beat you or at least don’t believe they can beat you…
It is a fantastic game by Giri, but once again, one of the things that makes Magnus so good is how tough it is to capitalize against him. It seemed totally overwhelming at a few points, and he was still able to find a draw with repetition
I had no idea "the strongest player in your village" exists in other countries besides Romania, but hey, i'm glad it has been used in such a sneaky way
8:08 "If the king moves.." - To which square please? 7:33 I don't think Nxf2 has been fully analysed! What if white plays Rxf2 after Nxf2? Then the continuation can be: Rxf2 Kxf2 Rf8+ Kg1 And now Rf1+ is not possible due to Nxf1 and Bxd4 is impossible due to Qxd4. And Nf3+ leads to Kxg2! So the black's attack is lost and the knight sacrifice at f2 didn't yield any dividends!
Thanks for the great analysis as usual. Crazy game indeed. Still an immortal draw. I'm guessing from the background that you play the piano/keyboards too. :)

Those were the two most difficult "find the winning move" challenges ever, how the hell was Anish supposed to find those!
Well, Anish isn't the average village 161660 rated on chessdotcom.
If it was classical maybe. But again if it was classical many players seem to be playing drawish games to avoid losing rating
Yeah, It was difficult to spot those moves as Anish was playing with less than 20 seconds at some point during this chaos.

Giri captures on f3: opponent takes his queen.
Tal captures on f3: opponent resigns the game.
This tournament sounds like a Bond villain
At 5:37 you can play Re1 only logical move is to capture with tje queen and then u can play Nf3 forking the queen
now Agadmator has to remake all the videos where he says "you can't move the pawn because the queen is hanging"
8:08 "If the king moves.." - To which square please?
7:33 I don't think Nxf2 has been fully analysed! What if white plays Rxf2 after Nxf2? Then the continuation can be: Rxf2 Kxf2 Rf8+ Kg1
