My favourite anecdote told by Judit herself in a Hungarian radio or tv interview, can't remember anymore. Judit and her husband were on the way somewhere in the countryside Hungary, they took the train. On the main railway station of Budapest (Keleti Pu.) there were these hustlers who played chess for money. Her husband started to play a game with one of them and after a couple of moves he said to the hustler: Listen I got some business to do, but here is my wife she knows the rules and she can play a bit, let her finish this game. The hustler said OK. After a couple of moves the hustler asks Judit whether she plays chess often. After yet a couple of moves the hustler scratches his head saying you must be playing chess at a club or something. So eventually Judit crushed him but of course did not take the money, instead introduced herself to the old man and they just shook hands.
@@johnwamsley1896 Can confirm, I was the hustler. Everyone clapped and I started dropping tears of joy. The whole city celebrated for 3 days. I'm still shaking to this day. My doctor says it's parkinsons but I know the truth.

This was a Hungarian tournament, that's why the hotel is called Hunguest. It's essentially Hungarian Guest in short form. Back then not as many Hungarians were fluent in English, so you can imagine they didn't think the name was as funny as agadmator seems to think.
For some reason agad didn’t bother explaining this, so the reason you can’t grab the free rook at 3:25 is that g4 as a response to Bxa8 attacks the Knight and removes the defender of the g5 square, then the bishop comes to g5 and skewers the queen to the king
Judit is obviously familiar with Fine's "The Middle Game in Chess"-a textbook example of destroying pawn structures in front of the king. A tremendous game by the young lady going for the jugular from the gitgo.
Judit is a tigress ! Being within top 10 in the world amongst some of the greatest male players ever is a humongous achievement.. She made chess popular among girls before Queen's Gambit 😎
@@FantoSunbae She is the only female chess player to come under top 10 ranked chess players during her prime. You're comparing with Magnus 😃 Her achievement is bigger than his. There are only a couple of females in top 100 and she was world no. 7 at her peak. No female ever had an elo rating of 2700+
@@Lemon-qs3uz Hmm :) for that reason I consider Morphy's achievement bigger than Magnus'.. like I feel it's more great when someone's so far ahead of their competitors. That's the only reason I said so. Like I can give you an analogy in cricket. Maybe in sprinting, Usain Bolt you might be familiar right. 0.15 second faster in 100m race than 2nd best is a huge difference in sprinting. Kasparov and Magnus I consider them the best in their era, but competitors are/were close behind..
While you're doing Polgars, you should DEFINITELY do Judit's sister Susan Polgar vs Peter Hardicsay (1985). One of the most insane attacking games I've ever seen. Both players were going all out but Susan was absurdly savage. #suggestion
You can see how aggressive of a player Judit is in the standing where she has the fewest amount of draws of anyone there with 3 draws compared with everyone else having 5-8 draws. She plays for a win not for a long drawn game
Agadmator's videos have been an evening ritual for me for months, but it is as of this position I'm too wound up and will play a few more rapid games before bed tonight
Please Add Game 8 year 1993 between Judith Polgar vs Boris Spassky For game 8, Judith came up with a new idea in a line which had occurred in Klovans-Bandza, Novosibirsk 1986, involving a piece sacrifice. Spassky declined the sacrifice and lost, but the idea was later shown in Sherzer vs A Lesiege, 1993 (Alex Sherzer and Judit had conducted joined analysis)
Some years ago journalists tried to trick her. They invited her to a restaurant, and prior to the meeting they'd placed her chair so as to look to the street, through the entry door. At a time during the conversation, a kind of advertising car slowly went by in the street, loudly enough to draw attention for some seconds: on the side of it there was painted a position from a chessgame, with many pieces still on board. Judit had a glimpse of it for no more than 2-3 seconds. Yet, after this planned intermezzo she was able to name all the pieces and their locations without any error.
I like her style almost as much as Tals, just going for the throat (Tal is a bit more of a magician, thats why I prefer him). It might not have been stable enough to win her a world championship, but it is beautiful and inspiring to watch.
The 2nd pause moment was a very funny position. I was thinking about Rh7+, because I knew the queen wanted to come to the H file with tempo... but the i didn't have a followup. Apparently, the followup was the whole variation that was played which ended with QR against RRN. So apparently my intuition was correct, but I wouldn't dare play it in a real game, because i didn't calculate the whole thing
I've put the position in chess.com and it says +3.47, which I would agree is not where you want to resign as black. Your chances to draw or win should be small but not negligible.
I don't ber think there is a GM level classical game that ended in a checkmate. They always resign when they know they are on the losing side. In GM blitz games however, there are but a few instances where the GM gets checkmated. But only few👌
You missed one important line in that final position... 21. Nxg5... black doesn't have to capture with the queen (though it is best), he can try... 21... Kg7 and hope to escape. But white has a brilliancy... 22. Nxe6+! and black either gives up the queen, or plays 22... fxe6, but now white finishes the job with 23. Qh7+ Kf6 24. g5+! Kxg5 25. Qh4#

I didn't get any of them o.0 😊 and I actually paused for a bit today. Well I would have gone for the rook in the second one but wasn't ready to sacrifice and I would have gone for knight takes bishop in the third one but you cheeky one made it look like the obvious one isn't the right move, so I thought nah that ain't it. The pawn I missed completly. I actually like the games where I don't solve any of the puzzles in time more. Rather enjoyable to watch her play.
@@miguelinux6 I am not sure but I think it would work pretty much the same. If he captures knight, you capture with king, he can check you with queen but you can still block with pawn the same way as shown.

This was a Hungarian tournament, that's why the hotel is called Hunguest. It's essentially Hungarian Guest in short form. Back then not as many Hungarians were fluent in English, so you can imagine they didn't think the name was as funny as agadmator seems to think.
#suggestion Polgar Saga after Morphy Saga
But the question is will the Morphy saga end anytime soon?
no way , after morphy we want alekhine saga
For some reason agad didn’t bother explaining this, so the reason you can’t grab the free rook at 3:25 is that g4 as a response to Bxa8 attacks the Knight and removes the defender of the g5 square, then the bishop comes to g5 and skewers the queen to the king
Thank you , I was wondering why
I don't understand. The Knight isn't the only defender of the g5 square, there still is the white pawn in h4...
Always enjoy Judith's games.
Not a drawn out past pawn race.
Judit is such an amazing player
Agad did you completely forget about the god of all attackers mr Barnes?

Judit is obviously familiar with Fine's "The Middle Game in Chess"-a textbook example of destroying pawn structures in front of the king. A tremendous game by the young lady going for the jugular from the gitgo.
Judit is a tigress ! Being within top 10 in the world amongst some of the greatest male players ever is a humongous achievement.. She made chess popular among girls before Queen's Gambit 😎
Kings Gambit works better for girls
Magnus vs Polgar in Classical Format 2 - 0 with 1 draw
in Rapid/exhibitions it's 11 - 1
And this was young carlsen. How was she top 10?
@@FantoSunbae She is the only female chess player to come under top 10 ranked chess players during her prime. You're comparing with Magnus 😃 Her achievement is bigger than his. There are only a couple of females in top 100 and she was world no. 7 at her peak. No female ever had an elo rating of 2700+
@@suhail_69 I agreed with you until you said Judit's achievement is bigger than Magnus's. That is ridiculous.
Judit is incredible 👏
I'm a simple man: *I SEE POLGAR, I CLICK*
I love her style, she is always in atack mode.
ok we have waited enought , come on guys lets protest , WE WANT MORPHY saga

Agadmator, "Is Judit Polgar The Greatest Attacker Ever?"
**Mikhail Tal has entered the chat**
While you're doing Polgars, you should DEFINITELY do Judit's sister Susan Polgar vs Peter Hardicsay (1985). One of the most insane attacking games I've ever seen. Both players were going all out but Susan was absurdly savage. #suggestion
You can see how aggressive of a player Judit is in the standing where she has the fewest amount of draws of anyone there with 3 draws compared with everyone else having 5-8 draws. She plays for a win not for a long drawn game
great point!
finally a Judit game!
Love the Judit games, keep Em coming!
Short and easy answer... YES!
i really like polgar's style , my fave female player by far!! SHE WAS SENSATIONAL!!!
Agadmator's videos have been an evening ritual for me for months, but it is as of this position I'm too wound up and will play a few more rapid games before bed tonight
Many thanks for this.
Judit was fantastic.
I love Judit yet must honestly give the title to Mr. Barnes.
MY FAVOURATE AGADAMATOR MOMENT OF THE DAY: "IT'S A WEIRD NAME,I KNOW BUT THEY DON'T SEEM TO MIND"😂
"Super Chess Tournament...great name". Keep it up with the humor :)
Please Add Game 8 year 1993 between
Judith Polgar vs Boris Spassky
For game 8, Judith came up with a new idea in a line which had occurred in Klovans-Bandza, Novosibirsk 1986, involving a piece sacrifice. Spassky declined the sacrifice and lost, but the idea was later shown in Sherzer vs A Lesiege, 1993 (Alex Sherzer and Judit had conducted joined analysis)
I watch this channel for your pronounciations of the slavic names alone 😀 great video as allways.
Great to see the great women in chess ! But regarding the title, i thought we all agreed it was mikhail tal 😅
7:24 why not king to g7?🤔🤔🤔
Now I know how I must do on this channel and outside
I like that she has the least amount of draws. Seems to me that she was always fighting.
Why did he resign they both same no of points
Hello Agad, I haven't been this early since I subscribed to your channel.
ke8 at 7:13 is like saying "castling was just a bait, and you fell for it"
Things are always nice when u are the first to arrive. 😎
Agadmator, i really miss your slow motion moves please bring them back!

@@aidanwogan3202 After 2 years? Don't think so. I'll try...
Tal (who watches over this channel) was the greatest attacker
At 3:14 what happens if white just pushes the H pawn again, then again....?????
Judit - The attacker... No doubt about it
Genial Polgar.gracias agadmator's.Saludos.
I like the summary by the end
Khatarnak that's Excellent, Superb in Hindi
"Congrats on not playing H4"
congrats on not making me feel dumb lol
Another great attacking game by Judit: Polgar v Bareev, Hastings 1992/93, round 14, game 54. French defence.
Tony! You rock in’ it bro-chacho!!
So apparently my intuition was correct, but I wouldn't dare play it in a real game, because i didn't calculate the whole thing
the proper title perhaps : "agadmators greatest clickbait ever?" lulz luv the vidz
Pawn, rook, and a knight against a queen?! I would not resign just yet.
I've put the position in chess.com and it says +3.47, which I would agree is not where you want to resign as black. Your chances to draw or win should be small but not negligible.
@@siIverspawn It's a tough one on such a high level but yes indeed.
If someone asks me to guess who played with white, I will definitely say Magician from Riga
It would be nice if you show one game of Levy by the National Open in Vegas.

Agad: hopefully you were able to find all the 3 best moves. You're a very good player.

I enjoy these videos very much, even though it all goes WAAAY to fast for me to follow.
In the first "pause the video", why doesn't capturing the rook work?
Judit Polgar vs Vladimir Epishin 1996 , is also a great attacking game by her
Isn't it possible to play queen h7 with checkmate instead of capturing the rook on g5? Or did I miss something?
Yeah, I feel like there's a problem with the PGN.
We forgot Dubovious moves..
😂
Smyslov called her "Tal in a skirt "
beautiful game, thanks for showing it.
Does anyone remember the last time a GM level game ended in a checkmate instead of a resignation ?
Lol. Right
I think resignation is a matter of respect once the CHOKE HOLD is discovered.
wesley so vs alireza quarterfinals in chess24 rapid tournament
I don't ber think there is a GM level classical game that ended in a checkmate. They always resign when they know they are on the losing side. In GM blitz games however, there are but a few instances where the GM gets checkmated. But only few👌
Rapid or blitz i mean
Magnus got checkmated some two months ago
9:21
I calculated Ng5 Kg7.. Any top continuations ?
You missed one important line in that final position...
21. Nxg5... black doesn't have to capture with the queen (though it is best), he can try...
21... Kg7 and hope to escape. But white has a brilliancy...
22. Nxe6+! and black either gives up the queen, or plays
22... fxe6, but now white finishes the job with
23. Qh7+ Kf6 24. g5+! Kxg5 25. Qh4#
A bit mischievous saying 'It's not a simple one' when the Knight capture was probably most people's first idea!
Please make a video on esopenko vs Boris gelfand
last morphy video was in may, do you plan to finish the morphy saga before The world championship match in november? Or do you get so many suggestions with now over 1 million subscribers.
Why’d Berkes recapture with the queen instead of playing Kg7 after Nxg5?
I wondered this also altho Knight to H7 blocks the king's immediate escape. Followed by thinking.
At the last pause, would blocking with knight D2 not also work instead of capturing the bishop?
Found an answer?
@@miguelinux6 I am not sure but I think it would work pretty much the same. If he captures knight, you capture with king, he can check you with queen but you can still block with pawn the same way as shown.
@@bratan_archer uhmmmm droidfish seems to disagree strongly if bishop then captures on d2. Oh well!
@@miguelinux6 yeah it seems natural that bishop then captures D2, but after recapture with king, the rest should play out same as in the video, no?
@@bratan_archer apparently the King's escape through f6 is key to the attack, again according to the engine
6:24 How is Queen to h7 or h8 not checkmate. What am i missing here pls?
OK. White is in check. Doh!
