      @@johnnysilverhand1733 No one said anything about her beating them, only that she's still incredibly strong (despite being retired for almost a decade), and that her strength was obvious in her quick and incisive commentary. What on earth is controversial here? She's a former top 10 with lots of experience as a commentator; isn't that exactly what you'd expect from someone with her history? Also, even if someone did say she could beat an active top 10, well, they'd be right. She wouldn't be the favourite, obviously, but she beat Carlsen in a casual blitz game only a couple of months ago, so the idea that any top 10 would just destroy her is absurd. Sounds like you need a reality check, not the ghosts you're arguing with.

Most people would only be expecting to see male GM's (since there were just more of them and they were better at the game, all things considered, there were only titans in that era). Maybe it was just a way of letting everybody know that she was a Woman GM, since, like I said, there weren't that many of them, especially at the top level. Judith is an inspiration not just to many women but also to some men like me. She demolished common belief system that women were inferior players. She defeated every single male champion of her time. And she laughed in face of adversity. She proves that nothing is impossible to achieve and you don’t have to buy into society’s standards

    • @TheChzoronzon
      @TheChzoronzon Год назад

      What she demonstrated in that every rule has an exception, not that men and women are the same at chess, lol
      In fact, she is the only woman that has ever been among the top 10 players. And only 3 women has ever been among the top 100 chess players of all time, if I remember it right
      Society standards has something to do, but much more has to do the gender differences in the Gaussian distribution of skills between males and female
      Reality is: if you train 1 million kids to play chess, half girls and half boys, exactly the same way and in a perfectly egalitarian society...still of the best 1000, 950 will be boys and 50 girls. If a fact of biology in most mammals, Darwin already noticed
      Or course, it also happens the same in the opposite sector of the curve... of the 1000 worst, 950 will be also boys.
      Of course, stating a fact of biology nowadays can signal you as a ciscum bigot blablabla, even in cases like this that doesn't even say anything negative about any group... *yawn

      Not really a killer. Nothing special honestly. Shirov blundered many times and she just played obvious moves i easily found every move she played to punish his mistakes. She was number 8 for only a month or a bit longer, but she doesn't have the consistency and potential that men have to hold that rank even tho she completely dedicated her youth to chess more than many male players. That's the difference between us. Chess is the man's game and nobody can change that. But compared to the rest of female players Judit really is a killer. Compared to men she is the average male grandmaster. Nothing too "ingenious" because it's not real potential. It's just a speculation on your part.

    „Castle early“. Simple rule, one of the first you learn! But still true!

    The FIDE ranking list is a major blunder.
    I think that, at the time she did it, Judit was the youngest Person to become a grand master.
    She should be listed as a GM.
    Her older sister, Susan, was the first female player to become a grand master, in her early twenties.
