Super Mario Bros. (NES) "Turtle Tipping" Infinite Lives (Real Hardware)

This was my first time doing this trick since I called the Nintendo hotline back in 1992 or 1993 to find out how to do it. Once I was told how by the Nintendo "game counselor", it was fairly easy to do; I did it after only a few tries. I recently decided to try it again, but I first had to refresh my memory by watching a RUclips video of someone else doing this old trick. It isn't hard to do, you just need to keep the jumps going by tapping the jump button at the right speed, which is a matter of trial and error (tap faster or slower until you find a speed that works).
Since this is only my second time doing this trick over a period of 20 years, I haven't had much practice, so I'm not very good at keeping the jumps going, but I was still able to get quite a few extra lives before the time ran out.
Also, you can't really get "infinite" lives doing this. I believe that 99 lives is the maximum for this game, and unless you're really good at keeping the jumps going, you'd probably have to repeat this trick a few/several times to reach 99 lives.

I used this as a reference and thank you. I own SMB, SM Galaxy, SMB 3-D Land, SMB 2 and I'm 50 a year old veteran. So don't mind Trolls like aptsys, all he probably plays with is himself while getting off ruining fun for others.

This is the best game ever. I always would do this and get tons of lives. They were just like jewels or something like that.

If you happen to get 128 or more lives, it's Game Over the next time you lose. If so, just press A+Start on the title screen to return to World 3-1.

FYI you can definitely get more than 99 lives doing this. It starts going to letters and symbols after you run out of numbers.

@@MaximRecoil wonderful! Thank you so much I tried it and it worked! I've been trying to do that forever I just didn't know what key to push and I was pushing the over key and messing up! My sister and I are in a debate right now. .. I think that after you get 99 lives it starts doing the picture symbolism and she thinks after you get like 20 lives or so... I guess we'll have to keep dying a bunch until we know... of course I think I'm right :)
