No, hybrids still suck and always will.
Me, hi Scotty
Hybrids will always suck

Correction not powering a Clutch and Drive Shaft reduces friction and thus saves power 90 or more percent at least of fuel consumption is wasted in friction roughly 9 percent of fuel consumption moves the car with less than 1 percent being used to move the driver
So a Gas/Electric is far more efficient and easier to maintain over a Fuel Car or True EV
Based off the reliability of the current Camry hybrid, I’d see no issue buying a 25. I worried about having the cvt transmission until I actually researched it. Their ecvt will outlast any conventional automatic. No bands or chains in it. Has a planetary gear style system. Simply amazing.
If you drive both the hybrid and the non-hybrid 2.5L NA for 15 years the hybrid will have more repairs and higher maintenance costs that will outweigh the fuel economy savings if you don’t drive a lot. Dropping the regular 4-cyl engine was a mistake as it already has the best in class mpg (35-41 mpg).
@@andrewgus8763how? There’s no belts, alternators, starters and few other things. The brakes also last almost 100k miles. If you don’t replace the battery it’s actually way cheaper and you save on gas. Not to mention hybrids are more fun to drive
Im in the market for a new USED car to replace my Mustang. And I want a 2003-2017 Honda Accord WITH the J series V6 and MANUAL transmission knowing the autos in Accords from around that time weren't that good. But gotta sell the Stang first.
@@DAN007thefoxx1id keep the Stang!
@@mitchaser5159he is correct. There is a belt on a hybrid for the engine and it's a big one on my 2020 Hyundai Ioniq hybrid. Also I have 2 coolants to replace. Also a clutch actuator to change the fluid in. Not to mention cleaning and balancing the battery. The motor/generator which is also the alternator costs a small fortune to replace. There is actually MORE maintenance for a hybrid than regular gas engine. It's just that people don't do it and/or don't know about it.
How can anyone not love Camry? My parents had one when I was born in 87. Still driving a new Camry today. Best cars for the money you can get.
Work for the Toyota plant in KY. New Camry is even sharper in person. Also, I don’t know any inside stuff, but just my professional opinion, we’ll go all hybrid before all electric.
Toyota will be the first successful automaker to launch solid state batteries but they have a diversified approach in the auto industry. They cover all their bases and in time companies like Tesla will be blown out of the water. Watch and learn folks.
NOPE, big mistake of getting rid of the V6! I told Toyota to keep the V6, but just improve it. I also told them to make a faster version of the Camry and Avalon (supercharged or twin turbo). They did listen to my advice, but did not make a big improvement. 300 hp or TQ is not enough, especially with the TRD version.
Scotty, Ask any good locksmith about WD-40. They will tell you not to use it on lock assemblies because it's made from petroleum distillate and/or silicone which will attract dust and will wear out the lock quicker and/or gum up the mechanism. It's better to use graphite powder to lubricate a lock when putting a lock together and to free up an assembled lock use Tri-Flow or another brand of T.P.F.E.(commonly referred to as brand-name Teflon) spray without petroleum distillates.
He was talking about getting the lock going, which graphite wont .
Can you flush the lock with break cleaner then use graphite? If you were to free it up first with WD-40 first?
I have found PB Blaster to work the best, and last the longest, and dust collection not a problem, since all of my daily drivers are 25 to 35 years old with 250 thousand to 500 thousand miles on them, and the locks all work flawlessly.
Exactly they suggest Silicone Spray over Graphite but both are great and never Traditional Oil Based Lubricant as dirt gets stuck to it over time and accrues causing it to damage and jam up parts
I have worked in a Hardware store for 10 years including key cutting and tool sections
I once had a door knob lock on an external door and it was dry. I had trouble getting the key and turning the key once I got it in. Used a liquid spray graphite lube made for locks. It worked great for a while but later it seemed to actually make the lock worse until I used a non-graphite lube.
I read this last week and made the decision that I will replace my wife's 2015 Camry with a 2024. I will start driving her 2015 and hopefully it will be the last car that I ever have to buy, because I really don't want to have to buy a hybrid or an all out electric.
It's funny, Toyota has been building and selling hybrids for over 25 years but there are still people who call them unproven and unreliable 😂

Toyota's V6 is underrated! My stock XLE Camry has out performed a lot of so-called faster cars. I think Toyota is one of a couple of Automakers that keep their performance stats low. Most Automakers claim (lie) higher performance stats.
Disagree
Sucks gas. Had the V6 and Rav prime. Same guts, way better mpg.
Maybe apples to oranges
@alexanderkennedy2969 True! Despite all that, it is still underrated. I have a stock 2009 V6 XLE Camry that has outperformed camaros, chargers, challengers, mustangs, motorcycles, and other vehicles that are listed as faster/better. If they all were shocked, this shows how underrated this engine is because in their eyes, this shouldn't have happened.
@@davevolz6138 My Camry V6 has been amazing all around besides a few model hiccups.
@alexanderkennedy2969 Those were Mazda engines when Mazda and Toyota worked together.
@alexanderkennedy2969 I almost got an Avalon too. You might think that engine is good, but a lot of people don't because they are unaware of how good it is. With a few more tweaks, the engine can be GREAT!
I used to work at honda in the 80s, and we used to use heli-coils or keenserts. It was less expensive to do it that way.
8:20 sometimes it is enough to slightly turn your steering wheel, like 1 degree, and the key will pop in. Happened to me a few times.

I would like to see a return of small, gas fired but very fuel efficient vehicles like the Tercel/echo/yaris or Honda fit. There is a huge opportunity for smaller pickups too
Yes, where are those $10,000 pickup trucks like the Nissan Hardbody. I don't need a living room stuffed in a truck. I want single cab, 4-banger, 6-speed manual transmission and a long bed to haul crap.
They just aren't profitable. Ford doesn't even want to make the Maverick.

You missed the best one, the Chevy Cruse diesel, my brother has one and it gets over 60 mpg, twice as good as his wife's Prius, nobody buys the best cars.
They're not getting rid of the V-6's by choice, and it's no just the fuel economy. It's the emission standards they have to comply with. At least Toyota is focusing on hybrid and not all electric!
Love that Triumph decal up on your wall, as in the 70's my dad use to have and work on many of them during that era. Great Bikes
Toyota should’ve kept the regular 4 cylinder option without the hybrid.
It would be way too slow for the American market

Yeh, that regular option with the 2.5 with the normal automatic transmission is what I used to call 'the perfect car'......not anymore.
Maybe Mazda makes 'the perfect car' now 🤔
That’s what Honda did with the Accord; buy one of those.
Still think Toyota should keep the four cylinder without the hybrid option available

Scotty, just on a side note; All the Camry's I've driven in the past 20 years also have a steering wheel lock that will prevent you from turning the key when it's activated. After you turn the key to lock you can turn the steering wheel until it clicks, and when it does you won't be able to turn the steering wheel or key without pulling some on the steering wheel; usually to the left.
Scotty doesn't understand those kind of complexities.
Not just the Camry, my Tacoma has that feature also just fyi
2007 Volkswagen Jetta has it too. Dunno about my Tundra
That's every single car foreign and domestic built for many decades now. 😂
Like who doesn't know this?
When the column is locked the steering wheel will only rotate in one direction. To the right on my Honda. YMMV it may be to the left on some cars. Cars have pretty universally been equipped with steering column locks since the 1970s. For example GM first introduced it in 1969.
Turn the key to the off position and remove it. Rotate the wheel in the direction that it locks. The column is now locked and will only rotate in that direction not the other. And the ignition will not turn with the key in it. To unlock rotate the wheel further in the direction it locks qland turn the key and it's unlocked. I can't think of any car foreign or domestic that hasn't worked this way in the last 50 years. At least ones that still have an keyed ignition switch in them, as opposed to push the start without a physical keyed ignition cylinder to turn.
Steering column locks are also why cars pretty universally have the ignition switch on the column from the late 60s early 70s onward as opposed to the ignition switch being on the dash like many cars from the 60s and older.
With the engine running a generator that charges a battery that powers electric motors at the wheels I think that they will be more efficient because the gas motor can be of smaller displacement and all it is going to do is sit there and idle to run that generator just topping off the batteries whether starting off from a red light or going up hills or through snow etc. That is where the efficiency comes in and it will run for hours on a tank of gas when it is idling. Plus there will be regenerative braking to help the batteries as well. So I think you might be wrong about this type of set up Scotty!
When that little gas engine is finally flipped to Hydrogen in the not too distant future, you will have the best of everything in range and significant environmental improvement. Ultimately a large ICE running on Hydrogen will be the outcome (batteries are not the final solution) and the luxury big car or truck is back.
@@TwentyEyes-ud9iuI agree and buying stock on hydrogen companies..... it will revolutionize all power production
That said, gas will be around for a long time :-)
Since the Camry is hybrid-only now, the starting price will be a lot more expensive… I don’t care about the V6 because I’m too stingy about gas mileage but I’d like to still have the gas-only 4 cylinder option. I’m not saying hybrids are bad, because they’re just as reliable as the regular gas version, but I can totally see sales going down dramatically
I totally agree! The upgrade engines are optional but it’d would be a burden when the price of a new battery exceeds the value of the vehicle in the future. Fingers crossed that drivetrain batteries will be affordable in the future.
Damn the late Gas Camrys are just gonna skyrocket in price
@@EsteOeste-vw7ps I got a 2017 Camry LE for $17,000 OTD 2 months ago.

They don’t care about gas mileage as much as emissions
I agree my v6 Camry is a monster when it needs to be. That extra power is all I wanted. Still wish they had a turbo option for the v6.
Some have said they do not see any advantage of the hybrid models because they only have maybe 35 to 40 miles range on electric only. As a method to go to the grocery store and a few errands that might make sense but the vehicle costs more than a gas only car. The USA needs their Government regulated, especially California !
Just got 2025 XSE camry, getting 45mpg. Full tank 13 gallons does around 550 miles, but i have heavy foot so i get 500mile on tank.
Dornan makes a programmable key replacement system. Follow the procedure and program it to your current key. No need to pay a huge fee to a locksmith. Also, many vehicles have a programming sequence so you can just have a key cut and program it yourself. Search the Internet for your vehicle make and model.
Non plug in hybrid is definitely a more feasible future over full EV. If every car today was hybrid, it would more than half emissions pretty much killing the emission issues today.

My 2024 Camry TRD is a beast. Shame I can't look forward to buying another five years from now.
Scotty I totally agree, tipping is out of control in this country these days. Even in sit down restaurants the servers are now getting around $15.00 an hour and still want a tip. Here is my tip "go get a better job".
There are some people in Canada who made an electric logging truck with a c9 cat generator with an acclaimed 1200 mile range. It's an actual company that made the design and they're trying to make conversions for other trucks as well, they call themselves Edison. I bet this kind of thing is going to pop up a whole lot more in the near future.
I really like the new look of the new 2025 Camry. They fixed the front end. 50 Mpg combined is pretty nice as well.
You may have turned your steering wheel and locked the ignition switch. Try moving the steering wheel back and forth until you can use the key.
it is a stupid mechanism and the reason The Club was a massive success when introduced in 1988. Before The Club anyone with a decent car was afraid of auto theft. Early 1980s car theft was out of control.
Scotty your assertion that Hybrid energy is less efficient than ICE seems like it’s not too accurate. Hybrid Sienna gets 36 mpg everywhere, compared to 17-20 for regular ICE. So it’s more efficient by far
He was talking about a hybrid that the gas engine is not connected to the wheels in any way. Just to generate electricity, your vehicle the engine drives the wheels.
I’m disappointed with hybrid only. I’m going to look at other car brands now.
I have an ice Camry and I get 41 mpg on the highway.
Not sure why have to switch all to hybrid

exactly, it's automatic. i''m pretty sure every car has it, and has for a couple decades. I don't understand how it is a surprise for anyone. automatic transmission has an interlock with the ignition key too. AAGH! Demons!!!!
Sometimes (most of the time) this is true, but I've had several older GM cars' keys stuck and wouldn't turn and other times when it would turn but would not be able to get the key out.

Gas stations do the same thing when you swipe your card at the pump. They run your card for $100 before you pump and return the difference in a few days. They’ve been doing this forever.
They do this because they have no idea how much gasoline you are going to pump, and people were pumping more fuel than they had funds available.
You can avoid this by going into the store and purchasing the exact amount you want. Never swipe your card at the pump
I gave my Highlander to my wife and bought a Camry. My 31-35 mpg for my XSE is awesome. One tank goes for 520-560 miles! I drive 200-250 miles per week and I only pump my tank every two weeks. Awesome!
I wanted to buy a Corolla or Elantra but they are just too small. I don't like Accord cos I don't like CVT.
While I agree with you on series hybrids possibly not being a great idea, diesel locomotives are massively efficient especially considering there is no other way to get the train to move with all of that weight. Imagine the size of the transmission if they tried to drive a locomotive like a tractor trailer? LOL!
I just solved everybody's problems. I'm going to use Scotty's hand motions to power my engine 😂

Yep. I own a Lexus IS-F and I wish I had a 5.0 liter sedan. It's so noisy and bumpy. Before that I had BMW (yeah yeah) 2001 740 IL and it was super quiet. Even when the engine started having issues, it was loud but I could barely hear the problem in the vehicle. Whatever happened to quiet strength?
Interesting that the Ram is going to use a system like a diesel electric locomotive. I'm not sure it will work in that application. It works for locomotives for one big reason. Those machines need torque to pull the loads and electric motors give you 100% torque the instant you give it power. Besides a mechanical transmission to handle that amount of torque would be a nightmare. The diesel/electric system is actually very efficient under the size of loads trains carry.
I've driven for a few decades, and have owned nothing but Toyotas all of my driving life. I currently own a Camry v6 XLE, and I love this car. I've recently heard that the 2025, v6 Camry's are gone, and are being replaced with the four cylinder Hybrid... Guess what, hell will freeze before I buy a four cylinder Hybrid...
I love V6’s. I just grabbed a nice 2019 Avalon. I plan on driving this car for a long time, I want a V6!
Also the locomotives use ac directly from the generator to the motors so there is no inverter (heat loss) converting dc to ac like in a battery hybrid

Camrys went downhill fast in 2018. I wanted one, but I really didn't like it. I kept my 2016 and bought a used 2014. In great shape and I love it. Great car.
What made them go downhill?
I’ve owned 4 Camrys. A 2005 4 cylinder - drove 200k in 10 years. 2 - 2015s since the first one got wrecked. Then I gave the 2nd to my gf. I have a 2019 now. I like the 2015 to 2017s with the 6 speed transmission which was really good. The 2019 8 speed transmission is definitely quirky. Toyota reprogrammed the transmission which made it better. The 2019 needs to be driven like the old 2 stroke dirt bikes. 😂

Scotty every gas station does what is called a"pre auth' when you pay at the pump which puts anywhere between a $75 and $150 hold on your account. In most states, that hold amount has to be posted on the dispenser. After you complete your fill up, the charge settles for tde actual amount, but that $100 hold will usually not come off until the next day. the same thing applies to EV Stations unless you have a membership or are on some sort of loyalty program. I will never go into a Five Guys again. They made six orders after mine ahead of me because I didn't tip. It's a sad world.
Don't worry 5 Guys won't be around much longer. You could actually buy a real steak with the 5 Guys pricing 👎
...at a gas station.@@waleyefish9026
I worked at an Esso full serve gas station in Calgary in the early 80s, made 5 bucks an hour, pumping gas, cleaning windshields and checking oil. Not one tip in two years..even when it was -35 plus wind chill.
Many Five Guys locations are closing down and are getting replaced with Shawarma and Afghan/Indian restaurants here in Southern Ontario
Scott have you heard about the large Honda recall?
I am driving an 2011 Avalon and I just bought a 2019 Avalon because I like a big sedan and its dyeing breed.
I will keep my 2002 f150 fx4 5.4 with 270,000 original miles. Was a firemarshalls personal truck
Big mistake Toyota. Mazda will get some extra sales from this. A lot of people want regular non turbo/hybrid models
Problem is Mazdas have cylinder-deactivation, so that’s bad if you keep your vehicle for a long time.
lol Mazda is going hybrid. The CX50 built in the USA WILL have the same 4 cylinder hybrid from Toyota....all Toyota powertrain
Mazdas leak and consume oil. Google it . I had two it happen to me
One great thing about the engine generator to electric motor power is the battery does not weigh 2,000 pounds.
How about the Toyota Crown, seems like a good alternative to Camery.
💰
Who else is tired of food places asking for tips when you order from the counter?
I agree with scotty with the tips. Tipping has gotten insane
Yeah, I agree too. I also agree. It’s because of your lovely president. Everybody’s looking for extra money so they can pay their bills.
I got 42 mpg on my 2018 Camry SE with a 4 cylinder
Oh wow !!!!!! The industry is SHOCKED AGAIN😂😂😂😂😂
I was at a hockey game. Two beers for $35.00 and they wanted a tip.......
Triple IPA's or what?
I love sedans! I drive a 2018 Subaru Legacy. I've had it 5 years and like having an ICE, but I'd consider a hybrid in the future. Camrys and Accords are both very nice, but for the price, I couldn't beat the Legacy. Do you think sedans will make a comeback, or will the automotive industry keep pushing these crossovers and SUVs on us?
The RAV4 plug in hybrid is super interesting and practical. It can go 42 miles on battery alone, but still get 400+ miles as a hybrid. Too bad our Government doesn’t have the sense to fill a thimble. What better why to transition to electric and get people & infrastructure to keep up with the change. I would love to see a Camry plug in hybrid too. 42 miles and you could probably just change at home once a night. Plus battery replacement smaller and less costly!
I’d be happy with a 2 seater car to get me back and forth to work in
Have fun towing with a hybrid.
how many people tow? buy a Tacoma, Tundra or even a 4runner
6k for a mechanic to repair a hybrid battery hybrids suck too
Love my 2006 Lexus RX400h . 233,000 miles and doing fine.
I'm glad I bought my 2023 non-hybrid Camry. It'll be a collectors item someday. jk 😂😉
Just urn the wheel. It's just the steering wheel lock
Only GM and FORD think everybody in America wants to drive pick up trucks and electric Hummers that cost over $100K. Every commercial advertises pickups driving in the desert or through a river or a snow storm. Is it me, or do most Americans live near the Grand Canyon or Death Valley Cali..
the thing about EVs is they have a practical use case. If you live in the suburbs and commute to and from work everyday an EV is a perfect fit for that. But if you do any hauling or need to drive any significant distance then gas or hybrid is the best choice for that. The problem is the stupid push to make everything an EV when the technology is not ready for prime time who knows if it ever will be ready.
I like my 2015 camry with the 6 speed automatic transmission. At least no more 8 speed automatic transmission Camry's. The eCVT is better than the 8 speed automatic transmission.
Yes, but I’d rather have the six speed transmission. I had an eight speed transmission in my 21 Sonata and it was very weird. Did not like it at all gas mileage with the two extra gears, but it still sucked. I’ll never buy another Hyundai product again, but my 2016 Camry Has the six speed transmission decent gas mileage. I wouldn’t say it’s the best but it’s OK for what it is. Still a hell of a lot better than Hyundai.
Can't you pull the battery out of an old hybrid and install an alternator? Suddenly you have a gas only "hybrid" which is lighter.
You tip for take out because usually the server/bartender has to take time from people who they ae waiting on to get your order ready. Some like me makes sure the order is correct so you are not wasting your trip to restaurant only to get wrong order. Some don't make sure the order is correct because they are in the weeds with customers who are in the building eating and tipping. When people pick up food and don't tip the waitstaff, making only $2.83/hr+ tip don't give a hoot about your takeout. One night during a snow storm all I did was $1000 of take out I made $40 if I did $1000 in sit down business I would have made around $400. So you tell me if you were in customer service where your only $ comes from tips who would you put more effort into? To go customers? Or sit down? Both take time and effort to get correct.
get a real job.
@@mikej238 I have had real jobs before. I like putting in half effort and making $50/hr. Waiting/bartender is physically easy and is way more $ than manual labor. I have been injury free for over 10 years now. My 20s and 30s were spent riddled with injury.
Bwahahaha ~ one night ..... okay so in 4 hours you made $40
Sounds like you need a different career field because that is like what a kid can make at McDonald's
Do NOT use a “heli-coil. Only use a Time-Sert on something like a spark plug hole.
You can use a tap and dye set did it for my Honda Civic back in the day it was a 94 with a 1.5 L four-cylinder had the same problem watch my dad pull out his set. New threads spark plug went right in. Never had a problem again I miss my dad.
Can't wait to buy one.
Kinda disappointing how the 2025 Camry will only come with the I4 Hybrid configuration instead of perfecting the current configurations they have as of today. I would be far more happier buying a 2024 Camry with the V6 Engine and not have to worry about certain problems that the future models may or may not have.
Cars are lower to the ground, which gives way to dignified entrances and exits
whoever puts the pics in upper right is the hero we need
