    This issue has been happening on my 2018 F-150 for months and the wipers were finally stuck on intermittent…look at the moron in 108 degree heat in Texas, no rain for weeks and the wipers are on 🤣 I just fixed it with your help and a $30 part from Amazon. I am no mechanic. The hardest part was fitting the plastic cover back on and getting the screws back and aligned on the bottom. If I can do this, you’ve got this 👊

    I'm gonna need to do this very soon, SOOOOOO annoying dealing with this and embarrassing at a stop light. I've started hitting the windshield sprayers just to make it look like I'm doing it on purpose. Thanks for the video, but the music was a distraction from what you were saying.

    Thanks for a very helpful fix. I too experienced wipers that wouldn’t turn off without some finagling. Before that occurred I lost my auto functionality for the wipers.
    My stalk is slightly different as is my assembly. My auto tilt steering wheel control module is mated to the bottom of the turn/wiper control stalk. Everything came apart just as you mentioned but I had one extra screw to loosen off and then I had to pair both controls by simply lining them up before repositioning them in place. A little different but no big deal.
    It’s kind of nice to know I can replace the auto/manual steering wheel tilt module as well if needed as it is a separate control module/part. Thanks again.

    When this first started, I found that using the turn signal in each direction or turning wipers to high the off would stop it. Then that wouldn't work anymore. Now if I hit the top of the steering column with my knuckles a few times it will then turn off. When that doesn't work anymore, I'm taking it out and taking it apart to see if there is something inside it that can be cleaned or tightened. My 98 Sable many years ago had a buildup in the contacts that, just giving it a good cleaning fixed its problems.

    • @ResurrectionMotorsports
      @ResurrectionMotorsports  2 года назад

      That makes sense, I did research to see if this was able to be cleaned or repaired and most responses were it's internet to the chip, and at the price and time to replace it, it's just more efficient to go ahead and replace it. But I totally understand wanting to identify the root cause, being an old IT guy I 100%, get it 😂

      Took mine apart, cleaned the hell out of it, and nothing seems to fix it. I've replaced it with another, but I'll be tearing the old one apart even further now that I don't need it in case I break it.lol..but I'd like to know why a $43K truck has a simple problem that has never been an issue in other cars, ever! POS Ford outsourcing. Never buying another.

    Wonder what would cause this other than the switch as I replaced the switch and I’m still having the same problem. My windshield wipers are essentially stuck in the lowest mode. When it’s actually raining I can turn the switch and they go faster through all the setting seem to work except the off position. I’m guessing I just bought a bad switch. I really don’t know what else it could be. There isn’t anything else on the circuit as it just runs to a fuse and no relays. Idk I’m stumped guess I’ll try and order another switch

    • @ResurrectionMotorsports
      @ResurrectionMotorsports  8 месяцев назад

      Yeah it sounds like you possibly got a bad switch, and completely agree with you, doesn't make sense because there isn't much there to actually break other than the little electrical switch in the housing. Let me know if another switch fixes the problem, I'm curious now!

      @@ResurrectionMotorsports well after more digging I learned there is a park switch in the wiper motor itself. This switch tells the wipers where to park/stop. Unfortunately doesn’t look like you can replace just the switch on the explorer which is only a couple dollars. You gotta replace the whole motor which is upwards of $100 depending on bra d

      @@ResurrectionMotorsports ; Ok. This is how my ordeal went... Ordered Motorcraft part number SW7917 (2017, F150) (5 local Ford dealers listed it as backordered, no estimate on when it would be available) from AutoZone (2 stores within a 2 hour drive had 1 each). $78.10 shipped (free, no extra pay for possibly 1 day sooner) to the house (ordered Sunday evening, arrived Wednesday afternoon). 3 screws under dash were 7mm (guess who didn't have 7mm). Drove to O'Reilly's to get socket (bad storms coming tonight, tomorrow, needed to get this done). We started with 5 mm and worked up to 7. Screws out, turn wheel to left 90 degrees, release 1 tab, turn wheel to right 90 degrees, release 2nd tab. Push down steering wheel tilt. Opened plastic covers exposing switch mounting. 2x T10 bolts out. Switch pulled out with no effort. Checked both parts for part numbers. Leave the grease on there (I saw videos where they cleaned the grease off). Slid new part into place (effortless). Put 2x T10 back in place. Replaced fuse as I was ready to eat the steering wheel on the way to work Monday (pulled that fuse out at work). Cranked pickup. Waited 2 minutes for it to do something (figured it was trolling me). Then I tried inter/slow/fast, everything worked as expected. Truck off. Putting the plastic shell back together was the worst part. Felt a little like putting an IKEA birdhouse together. 3x 7mm screws back in place in the bottom (I didn't want to over tighten so it seems a little loose, not sure how tight it should go. I went back in the O'Reilly's and thanked them excessively. They said they were glad to help out. Now then, I get to thank Resurrection Motorsports excessively as well.
