Thanks very much for this easy guide! Mine had began do the same. Ford Dealer wanted 450.00 for a job that took me fifteen minutes and cost less than 35.00 for the part! I appreciate you!
He's not lying about how easy it is. Watched this video 3 times back to back so I could memorize what to do. Literally took 8 minutes to replace the part.
2012 with same issue...ordered new one from amazon and installed today. Took about 20 minutes and back to working properly again. Thanks for the video.
Brother CAN'T THANK YOU ENOUGH FOR POSTING THIS! I just finished mine today took about 1 hour pretty easy, there were a few differences! But never the less I couldn't have done this without your video! My f150 is a 2013 SXT standard cab pretty basic. What I forgot to do was turn the steering wheel so the 2 screws that hold the unit, let's just say struggle bus. Just took alittle extra time, if I would have turned the steering wheel this would have been a cake walk! AGAIN THANK YOU SO MUCH! I'd by you a beer but I'm in Michigan!💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Great vid and this did fix the problem. 15 minute install on my 2012 Ford F-150 Platinum. You don't need to take that cover off the pedal adjuster either. I was able to find that 5.5mm socket at Home Depot it was like $2.50 and is 1/4" drive.
Thank you for the help ! My mechanic was just trying to charge me $370 plus part for the same job ! He thought he could get that much since I am a female ! Joke is on him !
Good information. The part was under $30 and it took 10 minutes start to finish! For quick reference, the part is held by torque (star) screws, T-10 to be exact.
Thanks for making the video. I just replaced mine after finally finding one. The local Ford dealership was out and said they have replaced 4 in the last week and expecting a recall.
I can't thank you enough for uploading this video, the stealership wanted $565 to replace the wiper switch. I paid $56 and about 20 minutes of my time. 😆
DUDE, thank you very much. Took me about 30 minutes from start to finish on my 2018 F150. Most difficult part was to fit my belly below the stearing wheel to release the bottom screws. I had to use a 7/32.
Had the same issue and thanks to your well organized video I was able to replace it easily by myself and save a few needed bucks! Thanks for posting this...👍🏻
Thanks for doing this, super helpful! One tip for others... when installing the pedal switch cover, there are two guides, male and female, line those up and she clicks right into place.
Thanks for the video!! Mine started doing this right after a rainstorm. I got the part from Napa Auto parts took me less than 10 minutes to change it out it works like a charm
Thanks @Great Dane ! Google Fu and your little video helped me immensely. Fixed this little ghost in the machine in quick time. Only setback when I got to start was NO 5.5MM socket or a closest SAE equivalent at 7/32 to remove the steering wheel shroud. Most combo ratchet sets or at least the ones I own go down to 8mm /3/16 SAE(Damn you Ford somehow I know this was part of your evil plan.) Quick run to Advance and a cheap 20$ SAE/Metric set with... lo and behold... metric sockets down to 4mm with the needed 5.5MM. Woo hoo ! That an a DL7540 Multi function Switch from NAPA for my 2013 STX and all is good. Time for a beer !
Great video, thank you. Just a couple suggestions. When prying on plastic panels, I always use a plastic prying tool - you can get a set for about $12 at any parts store, and you'll be surprised how often they come in handy, with much less risk of scratching and scarring your interior. You mentioned a 5.5mm socket - 7/32" is the same size and probably a little more common than 5.5mm. And releasing the tabs on the back of the switch - it looks like either a much smaller screwdriver or a small right-angle pick would be better there, but using your key was ridiculously effective. Well done. 😎
Same white build up, looked like when a battery goes bad or something. Glad you mentioned the air, I used a bottle of compressed electronics cleaner. Works fine now
The white gunk is just a antioxidation compound found all over electrical connectors, they are non conductive and are used to prevent corrosion. Thank you for the video, pretty sure that switch is just bad, not the connection.
Good vid. Note - there are two variations of the multifunction switch. NAPA model DL7563 is the model that has the Auto Rain Sense feature. The version WITHOUT Rain Sense is NAPA model DL7540. For some reason, the DL7540 (without rain sense feature) is pricing out about $10 more than the DL7563.
I guess not many people worked with electronics. Many in here think by wiping the grease they solved the problem, but no one bothered to ask why it was there in the first place.
Thank you, made it easy to know this could be a DIY repair and it was. My son's 2014 didn't have the pedal switch so only had to remove the 2 torx screws and slid right off and also had the white corrosion. New switch in and working great.
Great video for replacing the arm however I ended up with another problem… the signals and wipers are working but now when I push the button at the end (for washer fluid) my high beams turn on and there isn’t any washer fluid spray. I checked the fuses and they are fine; no noise coming from washer fluid pump motor so that may need to be replaced but that won’t fix the high beam issue. Suggestions?
sounds like you might have received or purchased the wrong part based on what you are saying. I'd double check with NAPA auto on your model and the part you should be using.
Wiper delay stopped working on my 2013. Thought I'd replace this switch, see if that takes care of that problem. Just have low speed and high. Nothing inbetween . Pain in the ass when its hardly raining. Thanks for the video
Thanks, man! Mine was a 2017 with fewer options, so it was even easier. Just the three screws for the clamshell, then the two torx and the switch fell out. Great video and I did need the tools you listed. Shame on Ford, this has been going on for 15 years.
Hey man my truck is missing those 3 screws on the plastic cover. The 5.5 mm bolts? Do you know the exact size? They were missing when i bought the truck.. The 3 small screws under the column?????

I tried to replace mine since the wipers would only operate in fast mode, however after installing the new part, the same issue arises. Any tips? I read somewhere that something in the computer may need to be reset
