They got married. 10/21/2022 Now I am back again because my daughter also got married May 31 2023 and I have time now to do this wonderful beautiful things you've creative. thank you so much..
Great job!! I can pull 20 of them without an issue, then the next 10 will break every single time. I always think of my chocolate making as therapeutic so I don’t get upset when they continue to break. The first one I made, 10 years ago before the molds even came out, was beautiful & they didn’t have the convex molds. It was an actual silicone baking “pan” & the smash hearts were born, lol.
Hi Brittnee, thanks so much for the video! I didn't realize that this was something that anyone could make and I think I might have to give it a try! I thought the chocolate heart looked great to begin with and I like the gold you added, however, it might have looked even cooler on the marbled strawberries :) Thanks again for sharing!
I love this one! I don’t know what I’d put inside because I’m not sure I’d want to break my heart. 😂 However, I would do it in a “heartbeat” for a necklace like that.
You're welcome!! For this video I didn't, I just used compound chocolate that is already stable just to make things easy. But you can definitely use tempered chocolate for better quality!
Hi Brittnee, thanks for making such a detailed tutorial! Love it! I have several questions, hope you can help me out. 1. What solution did you add into the gold glitter dust to make it runny? 2. Why do the heart i did sweat after bringing out from fridge? Your's look flawless 😅 Hopefully i can do better next time🤞 Thanks in advance ya
Thank you!! :) So to paint the gold you'll need to add alcohol because it evaporates quickly and just leaves the powder. I prefer lemon extract because it smells delicious! You can also use vodka. And then 2. the chocolate can get condensation due to moisture in the fridge or freezer. This is hard to control in a regular fridge or freezer with other items in it. Once you fill the mold it can help to cover it with plastic wrap to protect the chocolate! Or try placing the whole thing in a covered container! Hope it helps!! Thanks for the comment :)
If you don't have vodka you'll be ok to just wash with hot water and milk dish soap. You just want to avoid water spots when the water dries so I like to shake it until most water drops fly off (cause they dry really fast) or you can even use a hair dryer. If you have a clean towel that doesn't leave fuzzies you can also use that, but I find that fibers like to cling to the silicone a lot. Hope that helps!
I would store the strawberries in the fridge but not the chocolate heart. If you store it in the fridge and it gets too cold you do run the risk of your chocolate blooming or streaking. It should be perfectly fine at room temperature! :)
I'm not sure the exact brush because I've had them forever but I know that they are synthetic Utrecht round tip brushes. Not exactly sure on the size, but something very fine!
How did you make the gold paint so gold? (If that makes sense). I’ve used dark chocolate, and I have edible dust, and edible glitter but I have to paint over it a million times, and still it doesn’t paint as gold as yours. Any help???
So, the gold paint that I use is VERY metallic. In fact, on the bottle it says that it isn't edible. I think it's hard to truly get a food safe gold dust. But it is made by a pastry company so it is kind of confusing to me! So I don't really use it on things I would sell, but I do use it on personal projects or pastry projects that I don't eat, or I'll eat around it. I'm still on the hunt for an edible product that has the same level of metallic! Depending on what you want to use it for, you may want to check it out. Because it says on the bottle "inedible" I feel I need to make that clear to you here as well. But here is the link if you're interested in checking it out: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DCZ17CH/ref=as_li_qf_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=brittneekay0c-20&creative=9325&linkCode=as2&creativeASIN=B07DCZ17CH&linkId=b1c02e989b6df81d8b2eac6a59fe3f6f
You can use any brand you like! Just make sure that it is a compound chocolate or candy melt if you don't want to temper it. That would be a brand like Wilton candy melts. Couverture chocolate you would need to temper or it will not work. But if you go to a craft store the chocolate you find there should be stabilized and ready to go, just melt it carefully and slowly! :)
@@sebalejandro5996 Oh good question! I totally left out chocolate chips. I would not use chocolate chips! That is the number one rule with chocolate making. They are very different than both couverture and candy coatings. You can sometimes get away with using them in molds like plastic or silicone, but they just aren't made for projects like these, they are made for baking. I would definitely recommend that you go to Walmart or Michaels and just grab some Wilton candy melts. Those will be easy and work great for chocolate making like this! :)
How do we get edible Metallica paint? I’m assuming edible luster and I’ve seen suggestions that say mix with everclear but idk how true that is .. seeking other options🙂
Yep! You can use any edible gold luster dust and mix with vodka or lemon extract. I use lemon extract because it works really great, smells good, and tastes good too! The paint I'm using here is for decorations only (I didn't eat the heart), that is why it is sooo metallic. One brand I've heard good things about is Edible Art Cake Paint. And funny you should ask this question because over the weekend I purchased over 10 different gold luster dusts and will be making a comparison video in a couple of weeks on which edible metallic gold is the best! So keep an eye out for that! :)
Yeah! If you make two of them you can glue them together by carefully melting them with a warm sheet tray. See my giant Easter egg video to see how to put them together!
Yes, I think I have experienced that before. My best guess is that it happens when the chocolate goes out of temper. The layers don't stick together because the chocolate structures aren't the same. Try it again, you will get it to work! The most important thing is to always make sure you never get your chocolate too hot when you are melting it and that you are using the correct chocolate to begin with. Stabilized chocolate is easiest to work with to get familiar. Hope this helps!
Check out the description now, I just added them for you! Just note that the gold I used in this video is non-toxic, but also technically inedible. I use it for demonstration and on decorations that aren't consumed, FYI. I can't find the exact same brush set, but this one is very similar and should work the same. I just use one of the smallest round brushes. Hope this helps!! :)
