Not that random people would care but today I started playing the drums.
You got a long journey ahead of you, best of luck!
I care (: make some music and change the world
That means you are officially better than me at drums, do good
Don't stop
I care, the drummer is the key of every band
By the way he pronounces "trve", we can see that he did not join the "kvlt"
not... yet
He should start a band with Stevie T. They look related.
I actually mistook him as an older Stevie T initially.
Stevie t bad
Do the diarrhea blast twice as fast for the real effect. Triplet 16ths instead of 8ths. It's easy to gallop at those slower speeds but faster tends to funny enough clean itself up a bit.
I've found that too. Fast sixteenth note sixtuplets and ninetuplets come out fairly easy on the feet if you don't try and play it too slow
I found when you let go of right wrong and have a good internal feel metal is fucking so much fun.
Kyle! I'm a huge fan of your drumming!!!
"Gallop=herta, not triplets" as per 66samus lol
As a metal drummer I can say this is a very accurate description of the first time you try any of these
Last time I came this early, my girlfriend cheated on me
lmao!
@Rob Boss o_o
Oof
@Nick does Quad drumming trying to poach a sub or two, lol
Well, maybe it's because you came early.
Yes, you should practice these, 40 hours a day!
Only then you will become... bang bang!
@Imstillwest G r/woooosh
Aye, fellow Twosetter! How's your day going? (oh gosh, I haven't practiced and my dad's asleep)
Thanks for asking, it is great over here! TwoSet is how I discovered this channel because Eric did a reply on their percussion roast!
TwoSet!
I feel like Terrence Fletcher here screaming, "FASTER! DOUBLE TIME!!!"
😭😭😂
What an original joke! A true curve-ball, might I say. Ever considered pursuing a career in stand-up comedy?
@@jamesdevine02 come on man, there's no room down here for toxicity
@@DeMariThompson is there no room for differing opinions either? Just a bit of banter but I do find this joke extremely stale.
@@jamesdevine02 wdym!?!?!?!! whiplash jokes are as wet as my wap!!!! Just kidding and i agree with you. Whiplash jokes are kinda overused nowadays.
EMC: Should I practice?
TwoSetters: *just start giggling*
Definitely especially your foot technique
[stares in Ling Ling]
Two Set sucks.
As 66Samus would say, “OH YUR!”
It's Hoglan blast, not Hogan. It's invented by Gene Hoglan, one of the greatest drummers to ever live :v
@Machai Folk He made this mistake at least twice, so seems like he doesn't know Gene, that's why I corrected him
Love the picture of the Spike Jones children's kit ad. Good find!
Right?!
@AcePitcher 6 when I was a kid, I laughed so hard at old Spike Jones footage that I could barely breathe and my abs would hurt. Absolutely nothing else made me laugh that hard.
Do some work with Samus he is a great person
Oooohhhhhh yuuuuuuur
IT’S GREAT!
Oh yurrr bahee, i love 66samus
That would be a really interesting and epic colab
TWENTY TUUUUUU
While playing this thru my PA, my wife came running down stairs yelling
"get the washing machine its banging again" LOL!!
We need a full i dont know what the heck i'm Doing Cadence
What video was that in again? I tried finding it but I can't lol
@@daunteescalera282 idk
Complete with blast beats
@@daunteescalera282 his 5 audition horror stories video
I HAVE NEVER CLICKED ON A VIDEO SO FAST
haha me neither

12:00 “wow its really difficult to do this one this fast. what if i make it even choppier so its easier?”
Swiss army triplet is actually easier than flam tap (even at slower tempos), because it doesn't alternate...
"What if I do Swiss armies?"
*coffee spit all over phone*
literally what I do half the time lmao
which are easier than flam taps as they don't alternate...
The faster he goes, the more uncomfortable he looks.
That is typically how it works.
Yes blast beats and beats in general tend to do that
That's called drum face. All drummers suffer from it, even if they don't admit it.
The longer the icon of sin is on earth, the stronger it becomes.
DIARRHEA BLAST
7:31 sounds like the great locomotive chase
Samus uploads blast beat video today? Emcproductions uploads blast beat video? Coincidence? I think not
I'm not surprised that the dirk blast was the cleanest he did. Awesome job!
4:52 - There has never been a more metal drummer thing ever said in the history of metal drumming. Great video, Eric!
Dirk Blast: *exists*
Military Drummers: “So you have chosen...
Death.”
“Turvuh” XD lol! EMC you’re so pure and innocent
If you don't regularly play with a double pedal, this is pretty impressive man. Good job!
It's awesome that you tried this. I'd love to see you practice these and do it again in 6 months.
The dirk blast is definitely your style, bro! Love seeing music teachers doing their most to become the best!
Now we just need a collaboration between you and Samus66 🤔
And please do make a follow up!
66Samus with only his feet.
Maybe compose some original blast beats inspired by drum corps playing? That'd be a pretty cool video. 👀
It would take you drummer’s handwork and raise the bar quite a bit you think? I mean you guys almost have to have a professional level athlete physique to pull off what’s deemed mainstream these days. I play guitar and there’s absolutely no comparison between what you guys do compared to what we have to do except keep up. I also do vocals for my band and pulling that double duty nowhere nears the physicality my drummer plays at. You guys are machines now. That’s a high compliment.
Most of those weren't too bad. Then the DIRK BLAST. Literally open mouth gasped and was simultaneously shocked and appalled at how insane that was just now lol
You all seem surprised he's good at playing rudiments...
Word of advice, set your pedals to the highest tension, and make the foot boards parallel, back your throne up so your legs are at a 90 degree angle, and raise your throne so you get more power on your kicks.
Totally do dis next year. Would love to do a drum battle with you!!!
Totally agreed. Just wouldn't dare to battle you. Ill watch while munchin popcorn.
@@Amadea27 I’m in a metalcore band. I know blast beats. 😏😏😏
@@thebasementfighter2978 uh oh.😲😁 You are going to smash him First row tickets for me, please!.
@@Amadea27 I can do both single and double pedal. His challenge: no metronome. 😈😈😈
@@thebasementfighter2978 wwoahaha evil 👽 Now I really want to see a battle between you two. You'll make the marine sweat. Btw: do you have any videos of you drumming or your band? I'd love to see you play. Metal drumming is fascinating to me (as a classically trained person)
"Sixty six samus" 😂
Great job with the Dirk blast though! Interesting variation on it too!
it's stevie t on drums.
Thank you @EMCproductions
You have know idea how much my dumb brain needed this breakdown of 66samus' video. GOD BLESS🙏
Sam Paulicelli (66samus) is IMO one of the best metal drummers around! If anyone here is into metal drums I would highly recommend giving him a watch! It's mind blowing! Thanks so much for a metal related video. I enjoyed it very much! Always love your content! Keep it up buddy! 👍😍💯😁
"sixty six samus" lol adorable tbh
When he tells you to play these beats but you're pianist: guess I'll die
You need the press those keys like a starcraft pro^^
Lmao
when he tells you to play moonlight sonata but you’re a drummer
Great job that was awesome. I loved how the backing tracks were a nice breath of fresh air from dissonant guitar all the time lol. I'd love to hear you cover an entire song :)
Happy Birthday Marine and congrats on your recent promotion to Sergeant!
Constructive criticism: the gravity blast can be held in the down and the up position if you loosen your grip. There are a ton of tutorials on youtube. That dirk blast was sick tho
This guy just started playing with his feet and he’s busting out 200bpm singles with solid timing, even dynamics and no balance issues? Either he’s a wizard or he’s understating his experience with the feet. I accept that theres a lot of advantage to having the kind of training he’s had in precise rhythm and posture from corps. Either way mad props man. I am a few months into my drum journey, having a blast (hah) but I have a long way to go!
Impressive. But can you play "Caravan" without bleeding on the kit?"
Or tackling someone?
Or without a chair getting thrown at them
Or getting asked for pictures of spiderman lol
@@Jaketheaxman I would link the gif of him laughing but I’m too lazy lol
@@jwaj ruclips.net/video/lpvT-Fciu-4/видео.html
A lot of deathcore and death metal drummers do doubles with their feet. I'd love to see you attempt that at tempos like this!
As someone who loves blast beats I'm finally happy that you did this video
Good luck my friend. And always remember, don’t matter how good you are, there is always someone better.
Quite genuinely you could branch out your content more since you’re starting to practice blast beats and such. Have you considered doing music covers of songs? Maybe even adding a Drumline twist to a music cover. Plus you adding metal to your already enjoyable content might be a nice addition!
Good video man . I’ve watched a lot of your drum line videos and you’re friggin unbelievable. It’s cool to see you step out of your comfort zone and throw caution to the wind . And just have fun with it
As someone who “plays” or attempts to play, I don’t like saying I’m good at it, either way, as someone who has some experience in what you’re doing, I’m honestly impressed that you had both traditional, single foot and double bass at the same speed
Definitely have some chops on the hands my dude, however the essence to a blast beat is locking in your feet. That's where I see you need a little work. Cool video and keep up the good work!
nice video! never think on swiss armies triplet to do this and now i gona practice this on my blasts, that was a great alternative ideia for the flam accent
As a metal drummer of many years, this is something I've wondered many many times. Thank you man
Honestly how do you think he did?
@@maldenfoster I think he did pretty well, better than I anticipated. I had assumed his feet wouldn't be able to keep up with his well trained hands. With some time on an actual kit and double pedals, develop some foot technique, he could join most death metal bands. Also, I do not like his gravity attempt, ahah
This did show me that people most likely assume metal drumming is focused on speed and BPM numbers. However, technique, efficiency and placement are much more important (in my opinion anyway)
For a non-drummer, that sounded and looked tough. Nice job!
I feel like there was a missed opportunity for a lil’ Peanut appearance in this video
He probably wanted this video to be more "normal" because it's directed towards a different audience than the usual weird crowd.
When he used Swiss Army triplet to play dirk blast i died from laughing 🤣🤣
happy to see a blast beat treat released on our birthday. yut yut!
Change playback speed to 2x then he is really good at it
I kinda hope 66samus sees this video and reacts to it
Since you're used to marching already, just think of the footwork required for blast beats as marching... at 666mph. ;-)
Ah since you know of 66Samus you should cover "Hey Al" by him lol
Awesome stick control and balance.
you can doubletime on the bass drums for slower tempos...also do doubles heel toe OR heel heel toe toe. try the jojo mayer push-pull as u transition into the 250+ range. tighten ur grip for gravity blast at slow tempos and youll feel it lock in
Now I want to see Eric marching at 200bpm 😆
That hand speed and coordination ...woowww
Dope video! I was in marching band and I'm in a metal band now so this is super cool to see! I want to see more videos! Also try a Pataflafla just like the flam accents! I saw Alex rundinger use it and fell in love with the sound and flow! Good shit bro!
Yeah do a follow up video so we can see the improvement
The dirk blast was actually very good
which comes as no surprise since the dirk blast is based on a rudiment and he is a rudimental drummer...
Tip for gravity blasting, angle the stick outward with your knuckles facing forward and pivot on the rim
Happy Birthday, USMC!
i feel the struggle so badly :D - thank you for sharing these honest playing!
Excellent cymbal/hi-hat skills on the dirk blast.
Firstly, 66Samus tends to say his channel name as six-six-Samus
Secondly, if you're looking to improve foot speed, there's a few techniques I've seen people use. The most common ones seem to be learning faster double foot-strokes (and there are a bunch of different techniques to try, the three most common being slide/toe-heel, heel-toe and swivel) and using different muscle groups to generate the single-strokes. Samus and the extreme metal drum teacher Marthyn Jovanovic recommend ankle-motion technique as a simple but effective way to gain speed. The idea is to, as the name suggests, use more of a rolling of the ankle, using the weight and momentum of the pedal to your advantage. You can use the weight better by shifting your foot back to around halfway up the footboard (where the 9 on your DW 9000s would be). That way, you're using a stronger muscle group, your calves, which also allow you to keep better balance rather than using your hip flexors (which is what I think you were using as you were continuing to use whole-leg motion on the faster stuff), and the momentum of the pedal means you're still hitting hard.
I'm likely missing out a few key things here, but there are videos on RUclips that can help you break down ankle motion/double strokes etc. Marthyn Jovanovic's channel might be a good place to start. I believe Wanja "Nechtan" Groger also has a few videos on his own technique for fast double-bass playing, so you can find them as well, compare techniques, and see what works best for you.
David Diepold's foot technique is interesting, he does an interview where he breaks it down. I think he's got the fastest feet I've seen as far tech death drummers are concerned
My biggest tip to anyone trying to get better at this style of drumming is to just relax. If you’re tensing up your muscles when trying to play faster, you’re gonna have a bad time. Take it slow at first and get comfortable before cranking up the met.
Lol the gravity blast is usually used as a half time feel. Count 4s on the hats and blast on the snare
Yeah, bet you are regretting all that sass on us Metal Drummers :P
Seriously though, Blasting is a skill all on its own - there's a lot of subtlety (ironically) in getting a Blast to sound like a Blast. I thought you did pretty good.
Your Swiss Triplet blast was pretty fucking cool, I've not seen anyone play it that way before, if you aren't careful you might end up with a Blast named after you....
I'm new to the channel so I haven't seen the sass, now I feel like I should look for it in his older videos hahaha. Many Metal drummers are insanely talented, guys like Mike Caputo and Alex Rüdinger are almost inhumanly good.
@@sahamal_savu one of his characters that he plays in the little skits has long hair and is a stereotype of a Rock/Metal drummer, which is hilarious.
It's good natured ribbing
That last one was epic. I'm not really a metal player, although I suppose you aren't either, so I suck at blasts but would be great fun to try
I knew 66Samus would be the reason why you started blast beats, the man is a blast beat machine.
This was dope and I’m gonna watch this and try to practice along next time I’m on my drum set.
Good morning and happy birthday Marine!
Dude, you should definitely review/critique my high schools marching band. They have a youtube channel where they post all of their stuff. There's one or two videos that is just drumline its called "we want drumline" I believe. The channel is called "Olentangy Orange High School Marching Band". We are (as I have been told by many people) that Orange High Schools band is the biggest high school marching band in Ohio. Not the best (though we are up there). The biggest. This year we have 250-300 members.
Nice stuff! Really enjoyed it! Great job on the Dirk Blast!
What a legend! Love it mate.
12:08 Did he just invent THE SWISS BLAST?!
Good work! You could chwck out Nils Dominator Fjellström drumcam for some speed technique and Tomas Haake in Meshugga drumcam song Bleed for some foot technique:)
It's not impossible to play more than 250. My teacher had this exact metronome and he taught me to do 16th notes at half tempo to mock 8th notes. So if you want to go to 260, 16th notes at 130 bpm will work.
those swiss army's where hilariously sick! comedic looking and Impressive at the same time
As painful as this was to watch, it is understandable as you're a beginner in the metal genre for hand/foot speed/coordination. Keep it up man! Working on minimalizing movement and utilizing ankle heel up and French grip will make massive impact on progression for speed and coordination.
Corpse paint is a must when attempting blast beats sir!
You nailed Dirk Blast!!
The Dirk blast beat was created by Dirk Verbeuren from Megadeth

Brooo..i feel your struggle! that shit is hard as f$$ck!
I'm subbed to 66samus and he just made a new one for advanced drumming
Happy Marine Birthday EMC.
Really excited to see you cover bleed for the memes. Fr though, I'm excited to see a 1yr progress video (and you should then totally cover bleed by meshuggah because it's a dope track but also a meme among the metal community so it'd do well in the algorithm...)
Man I’d kill for those cymbals
Dude you are going to get good at blast keep practicing. Only real honest men show raw footage of struggling practice. No one just becomes amazing at blast beating in a year. Unless you are Luke Holland, but other mortals have to put the work in like you are.
