Martian Manhunter needs more love!
I DID MY BEST TO LOVE HIM HAHA
@@TBATB yes you did!
Problem with MMH is, he's a legit Superman clone with some extra powers. Unfortunately that's always gonna be his downfall. It'll be better if they just took the powers similar to Superman away from him. That's how I like to envision MMH.
He’s my favorite superhero.
if only martian manhunter was in marvel, the X-men would gladly welcome him into their society.
I am a big Aquaman fan.
I think Geoff Johns' run is the most iconic run given the influence on the films. And its great. Jeff Parker's run right after his was also good. Dan Abnett's run is particularly great. Peter David's run was classic 90s.
One of my favorites is Will Pfeifer's run followed immediately by John Arcudi's run. This is the Sub Diego story and it's a great Aquaman story. It's got the feel of a Superman story in some ways. The way Aquaman relates to the common man but is also their protector. It shows how he is seen by those within his domain (the sea). It's awesome.
I think Hawkman is a missing candidate in your league. Hes my second favorite and his most recent series by Robert Vendetti is the best jumping on point for the character imo. For me the original 7, plus GA and Hawkman are the ultimate league I prefer. Then Canary, Hawkwoman, Atom, Red Tornado and Zatanna. As added weight. I like Captain Marvel but I also would rather see Hawkman.
Thank you for sharing some awesome books for me. I hope they reprint the Hawkman Omnibus someday.
Love the concept man! Great video
Coming from the king of awesome video ideas this is high praise!
@@TBATB way Too kind on that one haha but thanks buddy.
Also your text choice in the thumbnail I feel like is perfect 💯
Great video! I’m so grateful to have found you on RUclips! I’m a new omnibus collector and I’ve been watching you for the last 2 months. Your videos are extremely informative and I’ve guided me tremendously in navigating this new hobby of mine. Thank you Jake and Jordan!
Dude thank you so much! We try to put as much love as possible into our videos and we really hope it shows!
Love the video friend each one shows your growth as a host and editor! Especially the colors of this video look amazing!
Thank you! Cheers!
Just finished reading dead earth as soon as it arrived today. That was good. It deserves an absolute.
Crazy how wild the story was. I’d pay big money for the absolute!
Justice League Dark's John Constantine best story is Dangerous Habits by Garth Ennis, and Justice League's Superman's best story is the Death and Rebirth of Superman by Louise Simonson, Dan Jurgans, Roger Sterns, and Jerry Ordway. Another great Superman story is even though it has the Justice League is Kingdom Come by Mark Waid & Alex Ross.
Did you watch my top 10 Superman comics?
I wish they would collect Greg Rucka’s Wonder Woman run in the Rebirth era in an omnibus. That is my favorite Wonder Woman origin story. Wonder Woman Dead Earth is phenomenal and is how I discovered Daniel Warren Johnson as a creator.
Wally West is my Flash so the Mark Waid and the Geoff Johns runs are phenomenal.
For Aquaman, I love Johns run, but also love the Peter David run, which I believe is getting an omnibus soon.
Green Lantern is my favorite superhero, and totally agree that the Johns run is the definitive run on the character.
I can’t wait for the David Aquaman Omni! The rebirth era was so good! I haven’t read WW yet but I bet it was amazing!
Great video. I'm working through the 52 Omnibus right now. Once that's done, I'll dive into Geoff Johns' Green Lantern volume one. Stoked to read this!
52 is an amazing read!! A fun short book ti read after 52 is Booster Gold: 52 Pick Up which ties up a few loose ends! But I absolutely adore 52!
I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on GL vol 1!!
@@TBATB I'm loving 52 so far. I can see why it's got the hype. It's so well written. I'm only in Week Four but it's a great read. Booster Gold is becoming a favorite pretty quick.
And I'll absolutely let you know!
@@drummingninja1065just finished that one myself for the first time! Loved 52 👏
@@TheComicBookReport Hey, it's that Dominick guy from that awesome The Comic Book Report channel!
@@bunkmastab 😁
For Shazam I really liked the new52 stuff by Geoff Johns, the movie felt like it was inspired heavily from that also.
I’m really excited to read the new mark Waid stuff soon!
@@TBATB I’ll be definitely checking it out when the collected edition drops!
It's a shame Martian Manhunter doesn't get enough love, because he's my all time favourite DC comics character.
Yeah it was hard that I couldn’t find a single story in print! I still am happy with my choice tho!
Great video. This made me really excited for Williamson’s Flash omnibus.
It’s really great!!
well done
Thank you so much!
Wow, this is a wonderful birthday surprise ! Now, to check out the up-load;... And, Happy Valentine's Day to the both of you 😊
Happy birthday my friend! Can’t wait to hear your thoughts!
Love that Captain Marvel/Shazam! and Martian Manhunter made the cut ! Was hoping The Spectre would be in there, too, but maybe we get a part two some day !
To each their own with a lot of these type things. I personally am not into dark, 'realistic, and gritty anymore, but that does seem to be an important part of the comic book journey for many of us. Regarding The Big Red Cheese, Superman/Shazam! First Thunder had me doing some ugly crying at the end. But, interestingly enough, not until after the 3rd time I read it. I also love, and fully endorse, Shazam! The Monster Society of Evil by Jeff Smith.
@@TBATB And thanks, my age is now squarely in the middle of Larry's (Larry's Library) and Jess' !
Love the concept of the video! Some great picks. I’d throw Return of Barry Allen or The Human Race for Flash, both do a fantastic job of showing why Wally is the greatest to ever do it
Man, I'm a huge fan of Shazam: Monster Society of Evil by Jeff Smith but that World's Best Superheroes Captain Marvel story sounds fantastic. Got to put that on my list
I’ll def check out the other Shazam book!
Ironically, Aqua man is one of my favorite superhero's. I'm glad you talked about his new 52 run, it's one of the best parts of the era. The same thing can be said about Shazam New 52. Also, an amazing Martian Manhunter by Rob Williams was an amazing run on the character. He is my favorite superhero of all time. However, it's very short, only 2 volumes. Definitely worth reading.
For a long time I’ve been snooty and only read books physically but now that I’m starting to realize there’s so much out there that’s only available digitally for me. I’m excited to dive in and read that Martian Manhunter series.
Have to say the books that I have read are on your list... granted I haven't read great amount of DC. But you list does sound solid to me.
Thanks for always supporting me friend!
Great video Jake.
I'm going to have to grab the WW by GS. I've heard it's excellent. On the Dead Earth, is that an Absolute or a HC?
TIA 👊
Hey friend, I was just thinking about you. I hope that you’re feeling much better! It was a black label book so it’s a specialized that’s larger than a hardcover but not as large as a absolute I believe it’s called magazine size
Green arrow by Jeff lemire and Andrea sorrentino is epic. Great story and some of the most epic splash pages ever.
Didn’t they recently come out with the deluxe for this? I need to pick that up
@@TBATB dang I don't know. I'm a singles guy. :)
I'm currently reading Geoff Johns' Flash run from thr early 2000s. Then I'm going to read Geoff Johns' Aquaman run.
I currently have Scott Snyder's New 52 Batman run, Tom King's DC Rebirth Batman run, Mark Waid's Flash run, Goerge Perez's Wonder Woman run, Peter David's Aquaman, Grant Morrison's Flash run, Greg Rucka's Wonder Woman, John Bryne's Superman run & Brian Azzerello's Wondef Run.
Wow friend it sounds like you’ve cultivated an awesome library! Cheers, mate!
Aquaman nu52 Geoff Johns is top tier. They teased war of the seven seas and we never got it.. hope he comes back to do it at some point:(
It was absolutely amazing writing, and absolutely incredible art
I’m agree with most of your picks but i have a question, when you talk about the flash you picked Williamson’s run because of Barry right? Because putting aside Geoff Johns and Mark Waid runs of Wally West should be illegal 😅😅😅
Yes! I was basing off Barry haha
Thank you for the ARROW mention. Most people crap on cause The Flash and others were better. And I´m sorry.. The Flash had MANY mistak8Ronnie)es.
I would you also mentioned Firestorm (Ronnie), Captain Atom, The Atom, The Creeper and Zauriel.
I loved arrow!
